On our second trip to Boone, we pulled up to the café and were struck by that déjà vu sense of comfort an immediate excitement that confirmed we’d found one of the High Country’s true gems. This was our second visit, and once again Hatchet proved itself to be among the best coffee purveyors in the region. The line was long, but the anticipation only added to the ritual; after all, we had a 45-minute drive ahead to Grandfather Mountain, and good coffee was non-negotiable. At the counter, the staff embodied the kind of hospitality that makes a place unforgettable. The cashier was warm and attentive, quick to ask questions when she didn’t have an answer, and genuinely excited to help. I had come to swap ground beans for whole, and while the exchange wasn’t possible, they graciously sent me home with a bag of Brazilian beans instead a gesture that spoke volumes about their passion and care. Despite the bustle, the wait was brief, and the atmosphere remained convivial. One of the baristas even struck up a conversation with me about my jacket, a small but meaningful interaction that elevated the experience beyond the cup. Hatchet Coffee is more than a café it’s a community hub, a place where quality and connection meet. With its exceptional brews, thoughtful staff, and welcoming spirit, it’s the kind of spot you’ll find yourself returning to again and again.“

“My son was screaming while I was ordering, the young girl taking my order ran to go grab him the milk I ordered and waited for me to pour it in his sippy and took the cup back to throw away. She obviously did not have to do any of that and I am so grateful she did because the line was long and it allowed me to wait in line without a screaming baby. Every time I’ve gone to the Wichita Falls location I’ve always had above and beyond customer service.“

“There's a reason everyone goes here. It's an excellent coffee shop and a great hangout. Also perfect for studying. There's enough ambiance for both. Coffee/study date? You got it. Need to relax? It's an awesome lounge (although I prefer the solarium across the hall). Getting together for a coffee meeting? Everyone at App State, and I mean everyone, will recommend Crossroads. It's also a popular area to write, read, work, and study. Things that could be improved include open hours on weekends, music variety (I get that you're going for a "coffee shop" aesthetic, but there are plenty of kinds of music that can create that. For example, the time you played the Mos Eisley Cantina Theme was a welcome surprise.), more live piano music, and even more menu items like café con leche, horchata, etc.. I'd also like it if you restocked the display cabinet for pastries more than daily since it always seems to run out by mid-afternoon, but I understand that could be a financial issue.“

“I love this library so much ♥️ It's been a haven for 4 years now and I'll always hold it in high esteem! They're really good about ensuring there is a quiet place for people to work and the school provides many resources through the library. Also I've always had an easy time reaching the librarians through the website and receive a quick response. I really appreciate the work App has put in to make the library a great place to study and focus. I always feel safe here even when I'm doing an all night homework sesh. There are security guards who check for student IDs at the door over night and there are guards who walk the floor checking for IDs periodically.“

“🌺Noble Kava in Boone is definitely a warm and cozy spot to hang out. Kava and Kava bars in general are perfect for when you want to unwind but don’t want to make bad decisions or get plastered out of your mind. The drinks are made quickly and are actually quite palatable considering how bitter and gross kava can be in its drinkable root form. You can come in and play music with friends, have some drinks, chat and just have a good time without any of the downsides you would get from drinking/going to an alcohol bar. Everything was priced fairly cheap as well in comparison to what most bars outside of the pacific typically charge. They also have kratom drinks and the much lesser known akuamma tree, its seeds have very similar alkaloids to kratom. The staff were very nice to us when we stopped by, and I never felt judged or uneasy. Super cool people, super cool place, highly recommend if you’re stopping by or live in Boone!🌺“

“My husband and I happened to come across Ambrosia Kafeneio today for lunch and oh my goodness we are SO happy we found this place! The food is incredible! everything is fresh, made to order and there are huge portions. The lamb gyro and the Falafel gyro were amazing. The hummus is fresh and a gorgeous compliment to the falafel. My husband loved the lamb. The staff that own and run the restaurant are wonderful and kind. We got some of the amazing baklava to bring home (we were so full after lunch) and the baklava is equally wonderful. We will definitely be back!!“
