“This restaurant is in a strip mall that completely misleads the quality of this food. I just ordered some to be delivered, it was brought in a paper bag. Think of your seafood cooked in a flavorful soup, then ladled into a plastic bag, then into another plastic bag, then the bags are placed in a paper bag. Seems sketch, right? Probably the best seafood I've had in Durham. Never judge a book by the cover. This food was EXCEPTIONAL. It's tasty, it's messy, and it's worth it.“

“20250204 The Piney Point Grill is inside the Hilton Doubletree restaurant. So it was convenient in that I was staying at the hotel.
For dinner, I had a salad and grilled salmon with rice pilaf, all of which was good.
For breakfast, I had scrambled eggs with cheddar cheese, bacon, sausage, coffee, and orange juice off the buffet. The buffet may have been a bit overpriced for what I had; nevertheless, everything was warm/hot without being overcooked.“

“I have ordered several custom cakes for special occasions and they have all been delicious! I have a gluten and dairy intolerance and they do an amazing job accommodating both and taking the time to discuss with me my options for cake, frosting and filling flavors. The rest of my family (who can eat gluten and dairy) even LOVE these cakes. They say that they can't tell the difference! The chocolate cake is our favorite.“

“Mixed feelings. Ordering on line was easy. Ordered 3 plates of French toast with eggs and sausage. Arrived and only had to wait a few minutes for my food. I asked for butter and was told they are all out after she looked in the fridge. I was disappointed because I like my French toast with butter. It’s a rare treat. When I asked how could a breakfast establishment be out of butter she then stated “we only include it if you ask”. Sooooo...I’m asking now? Also, there was no option to request butter on line. Every restaurant where I’ve ordered waffles, pancakes or French toast has just included butter. On the positive, the portions were large and the French toast was good. I did not like the way the eggs were made - scrambled with cheese just placed on top instead of mixed in.“

“We love this place, the service and the food excellent ! It's like going down the rabbit hole and coming out on the other side in Wonderland! Don't let the age or location of this building fool you. It's definitely worth a visit. This place has the best traditional tacos in all of Durham! The pineapple water is to die for, and each plate of tacos is served with pickled carrots and onions that will drive anyone mad! The staff is always so friendly and our food is always prepared promptly. This really is a family favorite and a must-have at least once or twice a month! I wish they would sell the pickled carrots by the gallon. LOL, they're that good!“

“My dad used to take us as kids to this Captain D's when we lived in Durham (2000s). He moved to Graham, NC two years ago but he still travels to this restaurant at least once a month. Today, he invited my siblings and I to join him. This time we did not use one table like the old days, we needed three because we each have children of our own! It is always a pleasure dining in because the staff is always extra nice and caring. Today we felt extra loved and cared for, not only by our parents, but by every staff member of Captain D's. I didn't catch everyone's name, but I wanted to give a huge shout out to each and every member that was working today. We were there around 11:47 a.m. and we look forward to going back soon. After all, we enjoy that 40 minute drive, too!“

“I pass this restaurant frequently and just decided to stop by. My first time ordering takeout from here, I ordered Spicy Pepper Fried Fish. Their customer service is attentive from the time you walk in the door. What I ordered took 17 minutes to complete at best. The meal was still hot by the time I got to my destination. When you order from here I will recommend to order non-spicy or ask that the peppers be removed due to the amount of spicy peppers that were added to the meal; unless you like a lot of spice. Outside of the level of spicy, the food was very good.“

“The food here was genuinely really good, and we were greeted and seated quickly, which set the visit off on the right foot. The only thing that threw us off a bit was our waitress. Every time we ordered, she repeated it back to us in a way that felt more like she was questioning whether we really wanted it. At first we thought it might’ve been a language barrier—just a couple of white guys eating at a Mexican restaurant—but I speak Spanish too, and it was the same experience.

She wasn’t a bad waitress by any means, just not very attentive and a little unsure with everything. The biggest issue came when it was time to pay. When the tip options popped up on the handheld card reader, she actually pointed to the percentage she wanted and asked, “This one is ok for you?” My friend said she did the same thing to him.

Great food and fast seating, but the service needs a little polishing to match the quality of the kitchen.“
