“No frills Japanese restaurant that I have been completely & truly enjoying since BEFORE 9/11.
The ambience has never changed & I take great comfort in walking in and ordering the steaming miso soup, a side salad, tempura veggies & my most favored dish. It's akin to visiting an old friend you haven't seen in awhile, and you pick up right where you left off!
Service is very prompt, courteous and always helpful if you're interested in trying a dish or side you've never tasted before.

All emphasis is on the cuisine(succulent, & truly authentic) and the ever stellar service. No matter if I sit at the sushi bar, dine in, or take out, the food is always what I seem to need & ever delectable!”

You can definitely see the difference with the new team—they genuinely care, and it shows in the service and overall experience. The food is really good; some of my favorites are the Bold & Tangy Burger, Bourbon Street Pasta, and the Roast Beef Cheddar Melt. Shout out to the owners as well—I’ve seen them step in and help when needed, which says a lot. Overall, I highly recommend this place.”

“Fresh, Fresh, Fresh! I just stopped for a late lunch and ordered the Heirloom tomato and steak salad weekly special. Everything including basil, buratta and the local heirloom tomatoes were so flavorful and the steak was perfectly cooked. The chimichurri was the perfect combination to this seasonal salad. It’s so nice to enjoy such amazing food right here in Downtown Elizabeth City where I live-Hoppin John’s is always the greatest place for southern food and hospitality!! “My husband & I have been traveling to Elizabeth city mon-fri for 13weeks for work. We have eaten at City grille every single week we have been down there. We have loved most of the food we have tried. Some of my favorites would have to be the Ham, turkey, bacon club sandwich , the city grille burger, the slaw, fried okra & Mac n chz & the carrot cake is the best I've ever had. My husband doesn't even like carrot cake & he loves it. We usually do take out but the staff has been absolutely amazing. So nice, thoughtful, & accommodating.”

“I highly recommend Andy's Pancake & Steakhouse! If you haven't eaten here yet, you are truly missing out on both the food and the service. I had the Sausage Dandy Omelette (sausage, bell peppers, and onions), and it was cooked to perfection. The French toast was also absolutely delicious—it soaked up the syrup perfectly and was just "melt-in-your-mouth" good. The service was fantastic; the staff is so friendly and attentive. I was checked on constantly and never had a moment where I wasn't able to enjoy my coffee or tea. The atmosphere is calm and wonderfully old-fashioned—it reminds me of "yesterday" in the best way possible. A 5-star experience all around!”

We ordered multiple different things and they all were perfect. Placing the order over the phone was easy. For this whole play I paid $22 so it was not worth it for the quality of food that I got. It was a lot of food I was stuffed by the end”

“Been living here since 2010.The BEST food in Hertford to date. Great customer service. When placing orders over the phone, they never rush and make you feel as if youre family. All fresh food, hand made to order and from scratch. No frozen or false adverisement, as has been the case in this area. By far surpasses expectation. 10/10 with every single menu item ordered. In fact, it is now my goal to try every single item on the menu across the board! Im not done with one day's items without thinking about what I'll order the next time. “You can’t deny the food is good here. I’ve walked-in and order here 4 separate times and I can’t deny the food is amazing the sides can use more seasoning. The cornbread taste more like gingerbread unless the host mixed the breads up. The wait time for the fried chicken is very long but once you get it - it will be hot out the grease. “Tonight my father ordered food on an online order around 5:46pm we got to the building to pick up the food just past 6pm. Me & my son waited outside in the car since I am 35 weeks pregnant & my son is autistic. My father went into the building to pick up the food. We did NOT receive our food until 6:41pm. I understand dinner rush & I understand & know how long it takes to cook food to order as I used to work at 2 different fast food establishments as a cashier & a manager. This is absolutely unacceptable! 😤”

My wife had the biscuits and gravy and she really enjoyed it. She loves her biscuits and gravy. We just had a home less person begging for money in the restaurant that took away from my quiet breakfast with my wife, but I don't blame him. He was cold and needed help. It's hard not to feel sorry for people, but they shouldn't be in a business where people just want to shop or eat. Thank you.”

“This place is the bomb! Every single time I come here … I AM GREETED WITH WARM WELCOMES & conversation! Its my go to stop everyday, sometimes twice a day. My favorites are Morgan and Alexis. However, everybody there is amazing, I just see them the most! Ive seen some rude customers here too and I just dont get why people cant go about their day trying to at least be nice and show kindness! Youre not the only customer !!! So yes you might have to wait every now and then but usually theyre very kind and talk to you while you wait and try to get your order delivered to you in a timely manner. I have nothing but great things to say here. Its not what the situation is, its how its handled. Thats why they are my favorite store. I hope this helps someone’s day and be a deciding factor to come here vs the negative comments!”
