About Bread of Heaven Soul Food Restaurant

Bread of Heaven Soul Food Restaurant offers a warm and inviting atmosphere filled with old southern charm. Located in a historic area, it can be a little hard to find due to small signage, but visitors find the effort worthwhile. The restaurant is housed in what used to be a tavern and features a clean, charming setting with staff dressed in a way that enhances the Southern vibe.

The food is highly praised, with many reviewers calling it the best soul food they have had in several states. Signature dishes include the smoked meatloaf cooked in a cast iron skillet, which is described as "off the chart," along with classic sides like collards, pinto beans, candy yams, fried okra and rice, mashed potatoes with gravy, and cornbread that melts in your mouth. The portions are large, and the prices are considered reasonable given the generous servings.

Desserts like apple pie cheesecake and banana pudding cake are favorites, described as "little pieces of heaven." Service is attentive and friendly, with staff making guests feel like family. Recent improvements in staff training and management have enhanced the overall experience, making the restaurant a top choice for many. Customers leave satisfied, eager to return and recommend the restaurant to friends and family.

By far the most amazing food we have ever had. Don’t sleep on this place. The portion sizes were huge and everything was delicious. The cornbread melts in your mouth and the apple pie cheesecake and banana pudding cake are like eating a little piece of heaven. The staff were super friendly and accommodating and made sure we wanted for nothing. We can’t wait to go back.
The food is really good and full of flavor and the waiter jazz she was very nice and helpful
I felt compelled to write this review based on the fact that this was the best omelet and hash browns i've ever had
