“Updating my review because I have since eaten at Masa several times for lunch and dinner, including the omakase course! My original review is included below. Masa is some of the best sushi you can get in the area, and at a reasonable price. The omakase course is sooo good, and at $90 it's much cheaper than other omakase options in the area and in NYC. It is definitely worth the price, and make sure you come hungry! The omakase course is perfect for a nice date night or to celebrate something, especially since you can bring your own champagne or other alcoholic beverages since the restaurant is BYOB. I can't recommend Masa enough if you're in the mood for sushi!

“I’ve been coming to Sushi Story since the day it opened, and it continues to impress every single time. The first thing that stood out to me was the service—warm, immediate, and sincere. The moment you walk in, you’re greeted and made to feel welcome. The waitresses are consistently polite, attentive, and always carry a genuine smile. In particular, the waitress with the slicked-back hair has a way of elevating every visit; she’s made several special occasions truly memorable. The restaurant is almost always busy, and for good reason. Because seating can be difficult to secure, I strongly recommend making an RSVP ahead of time. Even with the constant flow of guests, the experience never feels rushed. The master sushi chef is actively engaged with diners, adding an extra touch of authenticity and hospitality to the meal. As for the food—exceptional. The salmon and tuna are always fresh, vibrant, and prepared perfectly. It’s easily one of the best places to enjoy a great evening out with family or friends. “After a very long day, I came in get a bite to eat before I went back to traveling. The food is delicious. The staff is incredible. They will go the extra mile for you (literally). After ordering and eating entirely too much delicious food the couple who owns the restaurant gave me a ride to the bus station. The woman who served me was kind and kept me company while I was alone. Really one of the best experiences I have had in the entire state of New Jersey. Thankful for people like you.“

“New City Sushi is a small tradition style Sushi bar/restaurant with an inviting atmosphere and service. A family run establishment with a single sushi chef that shows dedication in the meals he creates. Passing through the area I stopped in and requested an Omakase at the bar and was given a wonderful experience! The multi course Omakase featured some unique dishes such as Chuka Idako, fried Shishamo, Madai, Hotategai, Chutoro, Maine Uni and Chawanmushi. Overall this was a pleasant experience with a good atmosphere and tradition dishes you may not find at your typical sushi restaurant 6.7/10.“

We always ordered lunch Bento box came with many combinations like Miso soup, salad, california rolls are great. The salmon teriyaki, chicken tonkatsu, shrimp teriyaki and shrimp tempura for the other time were yummy, everything was tasty—truly reflecting professional, high-quality preparation. The best Japanese food in North Jersey, guaranteed.

The location is very clean, the little lady and her partner were very friendly, they made us feel like eating at home with family. Highly recommend!“

“We had dinner at Matsu on Friday......its a little gem in Hillsdale. We were pleasantly surprised, by the quality and quantity of the food. The Staff went out of their way to accommodate us. They very friendly and warm. It was a most enjoyable dinner. We have ordered food to takeout but hadn't been inside the restaurant since the pandemic.... We will definitely go again soon. It was a great experience and we both recommend you give it a try!“

“Had an amazing dinner experience at Morgan Steakhouse and Sushi. The music was on point and the atmosphere made the whole night even better. I tried the filet mignon flatbread pizza topped with shrimp and cherry red peppers—absolutely delicious and packed with flavor. Definitely a spot worth checking out!“

“The food is top notch. From the soup to the sushi. Even the ice cream is delicious. What really bothers me though is the service. There is a 90 minute time limit which I get but when you are rushed to get out by an hour that’s not right. Also when you’re hounding tables waiting to literally take a plate because you have nothing else to do that’s a problem. Finally when you’re coming up to tables and asking them for platters back because you don’t have enough supposedly that’s not good either. Last night I was hounded constantly. Twice I had people tell me to move my sushi to my paper plate because they needed the platter. May I suggest buying more platters. Love the food and yes I know I’ll be back but the service was ridiculous in your face. Don’t come here for date night because they don’t leave you alone“

“The food was delicious, loved the miso soup and the shrimp tempura especially. The salad was also really good, it had some ginger paste and normally, i’m not a fan of ginger but this was so good!

The service was amazing. The staff were super attentive and friendly. We came for my sister’s birthday and they sang so well.

“If you get an urge for some sushi and want to go, pick it up and head home, this is the place for you. The sushi is pretty much restaurant quality and nothing like the sushi you get from any of the supermarkets. The place is shinny and new and the staff are all great. Good local spot for lunch.“

“Is it a crazy idea that this place is best in NJ? No. It’s the best!! Good fresh fish is hard to come by, even places in Ridgewood that are fancier rarely have such good fish. Been coming for 15 years even when I lived far away. It’s fairly priced. That means some will find it more expensive compared to what they experienced elsewhere. It’s well worth it! I see all people here who are regulars. Coming for years. That’s because the quality here never fails!“

“Wow! The fish is so fresh, and buttery, comparable to omakase without the price tag.

I usually don’t order sushi in the summer considering the heat, but this spot has such high quality fish that I’ve ordered 4 times this week in 98 degree weather.

The salmon pieces melt in your mouth, I dream of them.
The tamago is perfectly done, tender, and not too sweet.

The Triple Alliance roll was my favorite. The salmon was perfectly balanced with a bit of spice, sweet eel sauce, & refreshing mango.

Saddle River roll and spicy salmon rolls were also delightful, but a bit too much crunch for my taste.

In my opinion, the dressing that came with the garden salad, not that anyone gets sushi for the salad, needed a bit more ginger and sweetness.

So excited to have found my new go to sushi spot.“
