“I run The Bayonne Chess Society & Club. We have events all over Bayonne, different venues. I approached the owner, Ed, and he immediately said, "Yes" He's a chess lover, and had been waiting forever for chess to come to Bayonne. We have almost 300 adult members, no idea how many children. We also have a Boardgame Division. We did this in THREE MONTHS.We have two locations on members meet at on Fridays nights. Chubby's for a more mature atmosphere. People can go grab a beer, eat, and chill, while playing chess. If there are children, members meet at Joe's Pizza...4 blocks away. So, far I've had the cheesesteak sandwich and spicy fries. It was delicious. We meet at BOTH locations at 7 pm. No experience necessary. We have all levels of players young and old.We also meet at Cafe 26 on Saturday afternoons. We have a boardgame Event night on Thursday nights, at Bayown's Vendor Mart from 6 pm to 10 pm. Members bring whatever game they're looking to play. The venue has a few of their own. It's crazy fun. We've also had events at Houlihans. We have other venues in the pipeline, as we continue to grow, as we're now getting members from other towns, like Hoboken, Jersey City, Hoboken, Oldbridge, and Paramus.FINALLY, we have Free group chess lessons on Sundays at Chubby's. We're there from 2 pm until 5 pm. It's RSVP only, as space is limited. As we get more students we may go to another day for chess. But, all in all, Chubby's is a chill place to go, eat, chill, socialize, and PLAY CHESS !! They also have a video game night !!! How did I not know this ???For those interested in getting involved in a group that's growing like crazy, were on Facebook. Look us up. The Bayonne Chess Society & Club.Remember, the chess is free. The venue isn't. Please patronize whatever venue hosts us.“
“Hosted a birthday party for about 28 people including kids. The service staff was attentive and responsive to emails and to my calls when I had questions. Here are pictures. The food that we ordered from the party package #2 was terrific. We brought our sound bar to play music from my own playlist. There is an option to have music provided by the bar/restaurant if you want. I would return to host another party. Much recommended.“
“I recently visited Otaiko Hibachi & Sushi Lounge in Bayonne, NJ, and had an amazing time! The hibachi experience was so much fun, with a talented chef performing tricks and stunts while cooking our meal (especially the saki saki part haha). The food was delicious, with fresh and flavorful ingredients. I especially loved the steamed dumplings as appetizer. I love the fact that every time I come here, I never wait to be seated. Their margaritas patron are the best in town. The atmosphere was lively and modern, with a chic decor. Overall, I highly recommend Otaiko for a fun and memorable dining experience!“
“I still think about my Jimmy's experience when I was last in New York. This place is one of the safest, kindest and entertaining spaces I've ever been to. Shout-out to all the amazing bar staff and all the amazing people we met there! Only time I've ever been at a bar and stayed for 5hrs+. Also can't beat the cheap prices! So much heart and soul in this place and I can't recommend it enough.“
“This was my wife and I first visit to NYC. We decided to pick this place to watch the football game. Our bartender, James, was excellent. He made sure are food orders were well-prepared and our drinks were on point!!! Thanks James and TapHaus for a great ?? evening.“
“This is a great place for an afterwork beer in FiDi and it's super close to the 9/11 Memorial. What I love about this place is all the patches from first responders and military personnel. As a US Navy veteran who served with Marine Corps helicopter squadrons, I love seeing the patches from units I served with.“
“We were walking through Central Park and decided to stop at a random place for a beer and restroom and found this gem. The beer was great, the cocktails were great, the sangria was great, and the service was phenomenal- warm, welcoming, and generous. We'll definitely be back for rhe food later, everything passing by us looked delicious“
“Recently hosted the BEST private party at Tampico! Joe was great to work with - super quick with responses and very helpful in getting me all the information I needed. The bartenders amazing and very friendly all throughout the night. Overall Tampico was very spacious and the perfect vibe. Would HIGHLY recommend for any size group to host your next event here!“
“This is one of the best sports bars I’ve been to in NYC. Met up for one of my friends birthdays and went bar hopping and ended up here. They have TV’s at every angle, and plenty of spacing for standing or seating. The have many options for drinks, and the food options are very strong as well. It was my first time here, but I’ll definitely be returning. I would recommend this to any group of friends looking to catch some games and enjoy and solid hue.“
“Awesome spot to watch philly sports. We went for a birds game and it was packed, but we were still able to get seated and enjoy one of the many screens. Buffalo cauli bites were awesome, and came with a honey dipping sauce. A pitcher of their ale for 22 is a steal in NYC. My only knock on food is their cheesesteak could use more meat, but as someone from Philly, I thought the meat was well seasoned. If you can't get the real deal (aka be in Philly) Olde City is a very solid option“
“I went here for the first time on Saturday at 1pm and it was, unexpectedly, one of the best bars I've been to so far in NYC! Rudy is the main contributing factor to my review; he was amazing! We ordered the Totchos (tater tot nachos) which were delicious and had drinks flowing. Nikki, another bartender, arrived before we left and she was also so wonderful. The vibes were amazing - a lot of 20 somethings there to watch sports games. We ended up staying way longer than intended and I'm planning to come back here frequently!“
“Greatest family restaurant in the world. I’ve recently moved to NJ and the place and people and food that my wife and I miss the most is Jody’s .. we were every other Thursday lunch people before we moved and now we need or “ Jodys Fix “ whenever we hit the North Shore of our Island….Today was terrific. Anyone who hasn’t experienced The Gobbler at Jodys is missing one of the best sandwiches anywhere. Thanks to Terence and the entire Jody’s Team who never fail to take care of us like Family !!!!!“
“Had a great time watching Rangers at Leafs here. Great mix of people and a group of beer league players rolled in for 3rd period with their equipment! Didn’t try the food but the vibe was awesome.Prolly the best hockey sports bar I’ve been to in the US.“
“Excellent service, delicious food. This restaurant is 5 minutes away from the World Trade Center in New York City. My friends and my family were satisfied with the Happy Hour spicy wings and the Smoke Show. These two choices were fantastic for 5 people. This place is recommended with 5 stars.“
“We came down to watch the game and were welcomed and had a great morning. We did not have any food but what we saw looked good, the beer was delicious and the service excellent though. A great place to visit if you want an LFC game while in New York.“
“Nayum (nayeem) was our server and it was such an exceptional time. This man had our foods and drinks made with such care, the food was amazing and so we’re the drinks. Nayum really knows how to make you comfortable and also goes above and beyond in regards to your time here. 10/10, don’t over think it, just come in and ask for Nayum!!!“
“This was my first visit to this restaurant and we were happy with our choice to stop here before a concert. Everything was great! The food, drinks, atmosphere, and the impeccable service that we experienced with our waiter Daniel. He was very attentive, friendly, and fast. The staff should follow his work ethics. We will definitely be back asap ??“
“10/10 This is my favorite spot to get wings and a burger in this area.Food: It has great buffalo wings, and the burger and fries are absolutely delicious. They have Pat LaFrieda patties and it hits every time. My friend had the Chicken Bites and loved them too. I need to try other things on the menu. Will report back Atmosphere: Cozy, classic pub vibe, but feels newer and super clean. It gets pretty busy for all sorts of sports game, and they have great outdoor seating in the summer.Service: The wait staff has always been super friendly whether it’s busy or not. They also make great suggestions on the menu.Wheelchair accessibility: Main entrance is a ramp, but I’m not sure about how accessible the bathroom is.“
“I attended the Prime Latino Media Award Ceremony for a nomination I won for best Pop Artist 2023 but aside from celebrating this wonderful night I found Judy Z's service, friendly ambiance and food was outstanding ? ?️Recording Artist - Edwin Vazquez “
“The perfect pub if you are in the desperate need of a quick pint. It's the definition of "fast drink" instead of "fast food" because sadly this place is lacking of food or at least snacks but I think it's the concept of this place to only serve drinks and I have to say they are doing that on the best level.“
“My favorite neighborhood wine bar in Kips Bay/Murray Hill. The staff are soooo friendly, service is quick and the decorations/ambiance of the inside is adorable. They have oyster/wine flight happy hour that is 100% worth it. The dry red wine flight (cote de Rhône especially) and the dozen oysters for under $35. Have been and will be back!!“
“A new favorite local spot! I actually did a comedy show here last night and my boyfriend, my friends and I are already talking about how it's such a great place for comedy. Drinks are great, burgers really are the best in Hudson county, great onion rings too. And of course the owners / staff are super nice and create a welcoming atmosphere. We will be back!!!“
“Steven the bartender is very cool!!! We got the calamari and the wings - SO GOOD. Calamari batter was delicious and properly seasoned - not overwhelming but amazing smell. The wings are crunchy and juicy, and the sauce clings to the wings so its not a complete mess to eat. Flavorful and easy to eat. My friend is a weirdo who only ate the veggies that came on the side and even he had good things to say. We also got the $20 Merlot - MAN THAT IS SOME BANG FOR YOUR BUCK!! It's tasty(I have a good palate). Definitely come here with big groups or people you love, you can sit comfortably and the music is just loud enough to have fun but still talk. I will say - if they played shawn mendes one more time I was going to lose it. A DJ or just anybody with better taste would go a long way. I volunteer as tribute!! I will be coming back. Thanks for the amazing time, I wasn't expecting to enjoy myself this much :)“
“Welcome to to Germany!!! well sort of...Great place great atmosphere! German Bierhall right off 3rd Ave in heart of Midtown East. The place is beautifully decorated with staff donning the silly outfits. Authentic Hofbrau beer on draft is super deliious. The food is also under the radar delicious. Both chicken samdwiches, the burger and curry wurst are my faves. Great place to watch a game. So many TV's with spacious large tables. Lastly they have an amazing balcony overlooking 3rd ave.“
“Good Vibe and Good People. Always positive energy while staying true to its personality over time. You get a true glimmer of local culture within the heart of 'true" South Brooklyn when you enter. That local sense of cool you can't describe in words.“
“THIS IS A BAR!!! Don't come here expecting an amazing meal that'll blow your socks off. Come here for a drink and to watch a game, then you'll have a good time! The decor of this place is insane. There is a basketball shooter game in one corner, and along the walls it's old vintage athletic posters or memorabilia or tickets. They have tickets from the Olympic Games several decades ago. It's really cool! I like the music. I like the staff. I loved the vibe. I highly recommend watching a game here and having a drink. Just be aware it's not going to have the sound of the game. I think them serving food is a plus but wouldn't expect it to taste amazing.“
“Discovered this place after seeing a show. I got the garlic aioli cheesesteak and Italian fries. The fries were $8 which I felt were pretty overpriced for the amount we received. I loved my cheesesteak - glad I didn't have to travel all the way to Philly for it! (I've driven to Philly just for cheesesteaks!) It was empty being that it was a Wednesday night but our food came out quickly. The decor was Philly themed highlighting their teams. They get their bread from Philly which makes the cheesesteak taste more authentic!“
“Good local bar. I wouldn't travel far to come here, but my friend lives down the block on 40th and this is my favorite spot in the area. Good prices, got just what you need. People are always cool around here. Saw a fight once outside. Pool tables you can play. Bathroom is far away downstairs. I come here whenever I'm in the neighborhood!“
“The food leaves something to be desired. I ordered the sticky cauliflower wings and they had no flavor so I’m sitting there with a plate of cauliflower smelling like a fart during the playoffs lmaooooo —- The bar itself it’s chill and really nice! The bartenders were attentive. I’ll definitely be back.“
“I hosted my birthday open bar here and it was an amazing experience!! Joe, the manager, was very accommodating and helpful when organizing the event. The open bar package was a great price for 3 hours with a semi private area and appetizers included. They even let me use my own playlist. The staff was so sweet on the day off, letting me control the volume and told me they just wanted me to have the best day. Highly recommend hosting at GST!!“
“I went after the Ice Ball at Bryant Park skating rink, on the coldest night so far in NYC!I had their Mulled Wine And it was absolutely delicious!.... I have to go back there just to have that again!..... I also had the sweet potato fries and I have to say they were perfect.“
“O'Hanlon's is pub meets basement rec room meets one of the oddest cuts of locals you'll find in Manhattan. Probably best known for its soccer showing which draws in weekend crowds, you might be surprised to learn it also opens at 9am, apparently to cater to night shift workers like those at the firehouse across the street. Because of that, I can never quite tell if O'Hanlon's is weathering bumpy times (it isn't always the cleanest and sometimes is low on stock) or if that's simply the reality of being open nearly 24-hours a day. Either way, that weirdness and its rougher edges do lend it an odd kind of charm that's hard to replicate, which is made all the more charming by great staff who are often more than happy to chat when it's not crazy busy.Edit: In response to the reply from the owners, for me it'd be 5 stars probably if there was a bit more stock of bottles on the back bar. For bourbon for example, these days I don't see much besides Maker's but I remember there used to be a bit more variety? But if the strategy is to keep a simpler inventory, that's totally fair! Just have been surprised since it's a large bar“
“We ordered wings and they were very good. We also ordered steak & cheese sandwiches that could have been good except they were heavily, over salted. Nikki was the bartender, and she was great. It is definitely a dive bar....but a good one if you like that kind of thing.“
“Spent a decade visiting this local dive. Made friends here and it became like Cheers to me. A place where everybody knows your name. No frills, cash only, sports on the screen and jukebox at night. Darts, laughs and fun. How I love this bar. Miss you Shorty. You are sorely missed. I am happy your family legacy lives on as does Dillons. RIP. One love!!!“
“Good Food and Strong DrinksI must say, I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food. Not only was it better than I expected, but it was also well-prepared and served in a timely manner. The portions were generous, and the flavors were on point. The drinks – they're huge and pack a punch! You're guaranteed to leave feeling buzzed. While the service could be a tad better, with room for improvement in attentiveness and friendliness, it didn't detract too much from the overall experience. One thing I appreciated was the presence of security at the door, which added an extra layer of comfort and safety to the atmosphere.Overall, Ringside offers great food, strong drinks, and a decent atmosphere. It's definitely worth a visit if you're in the mood for a lively night out.“
“My daughter and I are in NYC visiting. We placed an online order and went to pick it up. They could not find the order. The employees found it and made the order fast and gave us a couple drinks on the house while we waited. Employees were so nice and the best part was the food was great! My daughter said it was one of the best burgers she has ever had. Thanks for a great experience and meal:)“
“If you want to end your night after experiencing times square, this is the place. Just a minute walk. This pub is lit. Made some good friends and the live music makes you go round twoParking: Parking anywhere in NYC is difficult. Plan ahead or wait to get lucky finding a spot“
“I did not try their food, but their variety in drinks is great and the vibe is the best part. Soooo many games to choose from. I spent two nights in a row there for 5 hours straight playing games and having a good time! Shout out to the amazing bartenders ?“
“I love this place, and I am sure to visit pre or post Broadway show! The friendly, attentive and fast service at the bar and the awesome beer selection something I always look forward to here. And it is always this way the many times I've been here no matter what time or day of the week it is! The bar is tucked away where there is a good mix of locals and some tourists. There is a good, friendly, energy to this bar, not over the top energy, and it's not too quiet either. Menu is a broad selection and good for sharing too. Enjoy a beer here for sure!“
“4 years ago: If you want light Asian food or something filling, this place has both! Great place to chat and just relax. Good vibes, free water that is self serving fill up which is always a plus in my book!2024 update: Since then it’s still good quality fried chicken. Sit down atmosphere in the bottom. Need to use the app or phone to order which was confusing at first.“
“Food is always excellent. When ordering for delivery people taking the order are always extremely polite and helpful. Delivery always takes less time than expected. The delivery people are very polite also. Same wonderful experience whether we dine in or get take out. Would give 10 Stars !!!“
“Food was great. Staff super friendly. Just a bummer that they clumped the 3 different parties at back to back tables. I realize this is common with restaurants during slow hours, but this was overkill. Too close, like we were all sharing the same conversation.“
“Came here for the first time a few days ago to watch a football game. It's very small, but cozy. There are plenty of TVs if you're looking to watch a game. Their beer list is pretty impressive for its size and the food we had (nachos and wings), was very good. The only waiter/bartender we interacted with was beyond friendly. I'd go here again, either to watch sports or just to have some quality beer.“
“Came here early morning for an Everton match. We’re both vegan and they did us beans on toast which wasn’t on the menu, cleaned all the grill down and made sure we had something suitable to eat. Great service and a great atmosphere for the match. Thank you ☺️“
“The place was very nice, the fish and chicken wings were very delicious, the drinks too, the place was quite hygienic but the tables were a little dirty, they serve you very well and they don't take long with the food, it only took about 4 minutes to deliver it to me , the truth is very good. ?“
“This place is amazing not your average dive, upscale, drinks, and some really amazing bites!I absolutely love the wings and the bang bang shrimp so saucy and delicious! And then cheesesteak is a must order! To end it all you must get the jumbo cannoli trust me!“
“I love this place. I spent a couple nights over NFL Wildcard weekend this year watching the games. Great small town bar vibes, excellent for watching the games (especially on the Monday night, when it was much quieter than Saturday). Great barmen, no music and friendly clientele. You can order in your own food too.“
“We had a great experience at Hurley's a couple of weeks ago. So very friendly, great service and the food was delicious! I highly recommend Hurley's and will definitely revisit when we are in New York again. There was a good choice of different meals and catered for all tastes. We were so pleased we found this gem of a place and are looking forward to going back!Kid-friendliness: Our party was 2 adults and 2 children, ages 16 and 11. They couldn't have been more welcome. The great service extended to them as well as us! Brilliant!“
“Wednesday night karaoke was some of the most fun I've had in a while. The Mc will join in as back up vocals or haramanoize vocals with you. The crowd is talented and shows off some great voices. The crowd alone is a free show. BUY DRINKS AND SUPPORT! ALSO BURGER WAS DELISH! Drinks are decently priced come hang!“
“I went to the location to donate blood for Red Cross and was greeted kindly by the man I believe was in charge of the place. The location was clean and seemed very organized compared to other locations I have been to. The man in charge at the place was accommodating to every single person in there. He offered water bottles and snacks to everyone who came in to donate blood and after the donation They even offered a chicken pasta dish to everyone as well.“
