Drove past and wasn't sure I wanted to go in as the area around was very seedy, and the tavern had no sign out front and was really run down looking. However, I decided to go in with my boyfriend. The food was awesome and the service was great!! A must try, but bring Cash, it's a cash only place. Chili and Pastrami were great too!“

“I had a private event in the Parlor Room and it was fabulous. Food and drinks were spot on and the service was dynamite. There were 21 of us all together and everyone was well cared for by server Lily and the rest of the awesome staff. I really love the unique atmosphere of the place -warm, classy and comfortable all at once. No boring old chain restaurant vibes here. Everyone had a great time. We hosted my dad’s birthday at Schmitty’s and it was perfect. We rented out the indoor and outdoor space privately for a few hours, which gave us plenty of room to celebrate with family and friends in a relaxed, fun setting.

The staff at Schmitty’s were incredible—friendly, professional, and truly went above and beyond to help make the event special. They even recommended a fantastic musician for live music, who we ended up hiring, and it brought such a great energy to the night.

“I had a really excellent and extremely fresh Greek salad. One of the owners Megan, who I actually happened to know said that the vegetables are cut fresh to order. You could really tell that was the case and the feta cheese was amazing too. I really enjoyed it. My friend had a chicken shish kebab with a side salad and she loved her food as well. Will definitely go back. It was nice because the doors were open to the outside. However, the restaurant is a little dark. I think it could use a little bit of brightness. Just my opinion.“

“Tankys is the spot! These people in the comments below complaining about it being unsafe just have nothing better to do. Other bars right down the block plays music just as loud and stays open just as late. Besides the one incident last year, there aren’t any brawls or fights that happen there. Most ppl that go there are regulars and know each other. To the ppl complaint about it being loud in open late, you have the power to move to another place you knew where you were moving to when you moved there tankys has been there my whole lifeThe drinks are strong and cheap, the vibe is chill, older crowd, when they have a DJ the music is good, u can bring food in, and they have a lil pool table and a parking lot. I been going to tankys for year and never had a bad experience. Occasionally the bartenders be too busy to get to me and I’ll get tired of waiting and leave but that’s all rare.“
