Drove past and wasn't sure I wanted to go in as the area around was very seedy, and the tavern had no sign out front and was really run down looking. However, I decided to go in with my boyfriend. The food was awesome and the service was great!! A must try, but bring Cash, it's a cash only place. Chili and Pastrami were great too!“

“I had a private event in the Parlor Room and it was fabulous. Food and drinks were spot on and the service was dynamite. There were 21 of us all together and everyone was well cared for by server Lily and the rest of the awesome staff. I really love the unique atmosphere of the place -warm, classy and comfortable all at once. No boring old chain restaurant vibes here. Everyone had a great time. “The people are great. The staff are a lot of fun. It was my first time here, and I'll definitely be going back. Bay Ridge is pretty dead these days, but this "little find" is like a beacon in the dark shadow of what we now call Bay Ridge. The prices were very reasonable. It's a bit of a tight space, but there are some booths aside from the bar stools.

“I had a really excellent and extremely fresh Greek salad. One of the owners Megan, who I actually happened to know said that the vegetables are cut fresh to order. You could really tell that was the case and the feta cheese was amazing too. I really enjoyed it. My friend had a chicken shish kebab with a side salad and she loved her food as well. Will definitely go back. It was nice because the doors were open to the outside. However, the restaurant is a little dark. I think it could use a little bit of brightness. Just my opinion.“

“Used to be a regular when this lace was Duffys. Went this evening after dinner. The bartender was awesome. I am not a fan of beers but my husband is and was always n heaven. Very dog friendly. Very clean. Laid back and just a fun place to be. Will definitely be back.“

“I like this bar a lot, but for a while now, it randomly closes hours early. For example, last Thursday the bartender had already done last call before 11:15pm. And tonight, the place is lights out before 10:15pm. It makes it tough to count on this place to be a go to bar, because it’s frustrating to walk to a place that says it’ll be open, and then it’s closed.“

Other bars right down the block plays music just as loud and stays open just as late. Besides the one incident last year, there aren’t any brawls or fights that happen there. Most ppl that go there are regulars and know each other. To the ppl complaint about it being loud in open late, you have the power to move to another place you knew where you were moving to when you moved there tankys has been there my whole lifeThe drinks are strong and cheap, the vibe is chill, older crowd, when they have a DJ the music is good, u can bring food in, and they have a lil pool table and a parking lot. I been going to tankys for year and never had a bad experience. Occasionally the bartenders be too busy to get to me and I’ll get tired of waiting and leave but that’s all rare.“

“Great food. Tiny place and if you go late on certain days you may not get a table. Staff is hit or miss. One day I witnessed three young girls working there standing behind the bar talking to each other and on their phones rather then tending to the customers. I do have to give support to the one young lady who eventually had to run the whole place herself till someone came to cover the bar. They should always have more than one person working the main dining area. If you want a good bar pie come here.“

“I celebrated my friend’s birthday at this cute hidden speakeasy bar in Jersey City. This candlelit lounge is dark and moody with art deco vibes.

The food was good, we ordered the Jerk Lamb Dumplings, Wagyu Sliders, Wings and Truffle Fries. We also had a couple of drink’s the Number Forty-one, Number Thirty-Four, and Number Thirty-six were strong, tasty, and had custom ice blocks.

My only reason for giving this bar a 4 star rating is the cocktails are expensive starting at $20.00 per drink?. The fact that Jersey City is charging NYC prices is ridiculous.

Overall, I definitely would recommend this speakeasy for girls night out + date night to grab one cocktail and take cute pictures.“
