Drove past and wasn't sure I wanted to go in as the area around was very seedy, and the tavern had no sign out front and was really run down looking. However, I decided to go in with my boyfriend. The food was awesome and the service was great!! A must try, but bring Cash, it's a cash only place. Chili and Pastrami were great too!“

“I had a private event in the Parlor Room and it was fabulous. Food and drinks were spot on and the service was dynamite. There were 21 of us all together and everyone was well cared for by server Lily and the rest of the awesome staff. We hosted my dad’s birthday at Schmitty’s and it was perfect. We rented out the indoor and outdoor space privately for a few hours, which gave us plenty of room to celebrate with family and friends in a relaxed, fun setting.

The staff at Schmitty’s were incredible—friendly, professional, and truly went above and beyond to help make the event special. They even recommended a fantastic musician for live music, who we ended up hiring, and it brought such a great energy to the night.

“I had a really excellent and extremely fresh Greek salad. One of the owners Megan, who I actually happened to know said that the vegetables are cut fresh to order. You could really tell that was the case and the feta cheese was amazing too. I really enjoyed it. My friend had a chicken shish kebab with a side salad and she loved her food as well. Will definitely go back. It was nice because the doors were open to the outside. However, the restaurant is a little dark. I think it could use a little bit of brightness. Just my opinion.“

“Fox & Crow is the premiere Listening Venue in Jersey City. The music room is small, like a local jazz club from back in the day (think Coltrane or Monk at the 5 Spot), but that gives it a focused vibe and electric intimacy that you can't get anywhere else in JC at this time.“

The drinks were very well made, with nice presentation. My wife, Patricia, had a Coconut Mojito and I had two Lemon Martinis (well blended) refreshing and tasty. Order the Calamari as an appetizer. “Tankys is the spot! These people in the comments below complaining about it being unsafe just have nothing better to do. Other bars right down the block plays music just as loud and stays open just as late. Besides the one incident last year, there aren’t any brawls or fights that happen there. Most ppl that go there are regulars and know each other. To the ppl complaint about it being loud in open late, you have the power to move to another place you knew where you were moving to when you moved there tankys has been there my whole lifeThe drinks are strong and cheap, the vibe is chill, older crowd, when they have a DJ the music is good, u can bring food in, and they have a lil pool table and a parking lot. I been going to tankys for year and never had a bad experience. Occasionally the bartenders be too busy to get to me and I’ll get tired of waiting and leave but that’s all rare.“

“Could not believe there is a small town bar in the middle of Hoboken. Loved everything about it, from the bartender Daniel, who was not only professional, but friendly and fun to chat with, to the juke box you can play your music.

I loved that it was very quiet in the middle of the week, and you could interact comfortably with other peole“

I also had Ceasar Salad & Shrimp Ceviche which was also good with lychee martinis 🥂.“

“Great food. Tiny place and if you go late on certain days you may not get a table. Staff is hit or miss. One day I witnessed three young girls working there standing behind the bar talking to each other and on their phones rather then tending to the customers. I do have to give support to the one young lady who eventually had to run the whole place herself till someone came to cover the bar. They should always have more than one person working the main dining area. If you want a good bar pie come here.“
