We came from NC and after visiting Puerto Rico several times I was so excited for this experience! She was so patient with us! Answered all our questions with a very helpful and cheerful attitude even tho she was drowning in drink orders! With only one other helper, she never showed any frustration and provided excellent above and beyond customer service! The cashier with her was brand new and super sweet as well! Camilla even gave me a hug when we left! She made my whole morning! And gave us the absolute best breakfast recommendation as well! Thank u so much Camilla for your grace and kindness this morning. “I was in the Penn Station area today and had a craving for fried chicken. Initially, I was thinking about going to a certain Filipino fried chicken chain, but after checking the ratings, Pollo Camino came out on top. They’ve recently opened a new branch near Penn Station, but I ended up visiting their 8th Ave location instead — a small, single-storefront shop with a simple interior.

I ordered the fried chicken set for $9.99, which came with two pieces of chicken, a piece of bread, one side, and a drink for an extra $1.
• Drink: I went with their Horchata, made with peanuts and vanilla ,milk, without the cinnamon and rice I’m used to. It had a nice aroma, refreshing, and a bit different — in a good way.
• Side: I chose yuca fries, served in large sticks. The inside was dense than potato, with a lightly crisp exterior. Personally, I wasn’t a fan — I’d say skip this and go for another side.
• Fried Chicken: Lightly battered with a noticeable blend of spices and herbs. The meat was tender, while the skin wasn’t the super-crispy kind you’d get from those well-known Louisiana or Kentucky-style chains. Flavor was solid, but here’s an important tip — just like with many fried chicken places, don’t let it sit too long. Once it cools, the saltiness becomes much more pronounced.

Service gets a full 5 stars in the fast-food category — no self-service pick-up here, they bring your food right to the table.

Overall, Pollo Camino is worth trying if you’re around Penn Station. The price is fair, the chicken is flavorful, but choose your side wisely and eat it while it’s hot. Next time I’ll try a competitor for comparison, but for now, my top spot still belongs to Louisiana chain.“

“Just had a serious Venezuelan feast at Empanadas Mix 🇻🇪 and I’m still recovering like a champ. 💪
Walked in hungry… walked out questioning my life choices (in the best way). The Pepito Mix sandwich loaded with beef and chicken was basically a heavyweight champion between two pieces of bread. Then came the arepas—thick fried cornmeal shells stuffed with carne asada, pork belly, sweet plantains, special sauce, and a mountain of shredded queso. That’s not a snack… that’s a strategy for survival. 😅
Washed it down with fresh passion fruit juice and a cold Maltín Polar like a true gentleman of culture.
Shoutout to my waitress Paola, who patiently guided me through the menu while I pointed at everything like a kid in a candy store. The place is small, cozy, full of Venezuelan music, and the staff are incredibly kind.
Moral of the story:
Came for empanadas… stayed for the Venezuelan flavor knockout. 🥊🔥

They sell a variety of things, but let me be clear—the empanadas are the star of the show. Oh. My. Gosh. They are packed with flavor, perfectly seasoned, and BIG. You can literally get full off just one.
