“I was at first excited when Dao Madison moved into town and even more excited when I was told they can accommodate gluten free as I have celiac. After several miss steps with mixed up orders, Dao is now cooking on all cylinders. We recently were there with friends and everyone loved it. Moreover, they have successfully accommodated my need to eat gluten free (I have celiac) several times, and have been pro active in suggesting what is easier and safer to make gluten free. “My family and I come here all the time for large family gatherings. The food is absolutely phenomenal here, especially the pecking duck buns and sweet and sour pork. We also love the soy sea bass, crispy chicken, ginger scallion lobster, pork chops and corn egg drop soup. One time we brought them king crab legs to cook and they cooked all of our king crab legs to perfection!! I don’t usually write google reviews but this place is so special to me and my family and adore this spot. Just order pick up and don’t go to pricy places if u want to avoid being disappointed. I’ve bought from Madison Wok for 15 years now and never had a late order when ordering pick up here (usually 15 mins). The food tastes exactly as my local restaurant when I was a kid, so I can’t complain. For the price, consider how little you are paying for the amount of work and manpower going into it •• esp since it’s done so fast. Dao nearby has slightly less oil and flavor for a lot more money. I wanted to like it but just poor value since your deliver or pick up order price needs to support the wait staff. No American style Chinese food is healthy for you so stop thinking you’re doing something good by paying someone extra to do less oil, msg, etc. in summary, this is an old school place that gives you the standards for the least amount of money you’ll pay in this zip code. Not something to eat everyday, but when you need your fix for this kind of stuff. I recommend the pork dumplings, fried wings, curry chicken, wonton soup and any fried rice, plus the chow fun and generals chicken. My 3 kids never complain and no one has ever been sick. Sometimes I’m not crazy about the amount of meat but remember that I’m not paying $15 or $20 for a pint here, and the low prices are supporting a skeleton crew.“

The flavor of the food is excellent, the pork fried rice was on point and freshly made, the orange chicken was a bit mushy more on the softer side. I ordered sesame chicken combo and the Mongolian beef. They were both super good. I don’t normally like my sesame chicken a little spicy and they made it just right for me.
The customer service is also great. I had accidentally ordered white rice with the Mongolian beef and when I picked up my order they switched it to fried rice right away with no extra charge. Everyone there is super nice. Definitely recommend if you are in the area in search of a good Chinese spot.“

However, I was displeased to see that we were charged for six portions of rice when we ordered four dishes totaling $90. I believe that one rice portion should have been included per dish, making a charge for two extra portions fair. Given that our four dishes combined for $90, it felt a bit like a hidden $1.50 per dish to pay for rice that really should have been complementary.

“I don’t understand the negative reviews. I live in The Pleasantdale section of WO and for 40 years I’ve tried every Chinese restaurant between WO and Verona.

Over the previous years all of my “go to” places have been stinking it up. Small portions, less flavor and egg rolls have become a joke.

Peking House has nailed it. Egg rolls are old school large, steamed dumplings are fantastic, general Tao chicken, egg foo young, and house special Lo mein packed with flavor and large portions.
