Not all baristas are necessarily the same, but pretty much all of the ones I've had make my cortado perfectly, and they started remembering me and my order after just 2 or 3 visits. Also the children's play area, which is free to use, is great--my son loves it. This has become my go-to coffee shop.“

We came from NC and after visiting Puerto Rico several times I was so excited for this experience! She was so patient with us! Answered all our questions with a very helpful and cheerful attitude even tho she was drowning in drink orders! With only one other helper, she never showed any frustration and provided excellent above and beyond customer service! The cashier with her was brand new and super sweet as well! Camilla even gave me a hug when we left! She made my whole morning! And gave us the absolute best breakfast recommendation as well! Thank u so much Camilla for your grace and kindness this morning. U had no idea that my Morning started out so crappy, and your sweet personality and loving spirit really turned my day around and the tres leches latte was AMAZING 🙌🏼🩷💯 yall go see them and be patient …..it’s worth the wait ❤️ side note… the whole place is decorated beautifully! “From the moment we walked in, we felt genuinely cared for. This was my first time visiting, and the experience completely exceeded my expectations. The food and drinks were absolutely amazing, but what truly stood out was the level of attention and thoughtfulness we received. Being noticed and having the spelling of my name acknowledged made me feel seen and valued as a guest.

Ariana deserves special recognition—she went above and beyond by customizing both coquito lattes to accommodate my sister’s and my health issues, *without sacrificing flavor at all*. “Great coffee, We stopped at Roast’d coffee shop before heading to NYC, great experience; the pour over coffee was fantastic. Johan was quite friendly explaining different coffee beans as he roasted them and brews the coffee. I tried the espresso as well brewed from 3 different beans, very tasty. Now this is our favorite place to have coffee when traveling to NYC. We talked with local customers, so good vibes and recommendations. Awesome place if you love good coffee.“

“Im not a review-leaver but I have to for this coffee shop. This was my second time in and the staff is so genuine and kind. The coffee is excellent and I keep eyeing the pastries (which I learned are made in-house) but I come in after a run so it never feels like the right time. “The taste was good, and I enjoyed my drink. However, if you prefer unsweetened coffee or tea, be aware that the menu is very limited in that regard. They didn’t have regular iced coffee or plain unsweetened tea when we visited—most of the drinks were on the sweeter, more specialty side. If you’re looking for simple, less sweet options, it’s something to keep in mind before you go.“

“The coffee rocks. You have to have coffee black with NO Sugar to catch all the flavors. The Guatamala medium roast is the star in my eyes. I usually like a dark roast but this has such nice undertones the lushness of a dark roast is not missed. There is a nice, sneaky, dark chocolate taste on first touch with your tongue, then a vanilla aroma in your nose with a bit of dark berry. It has a smooth and lower acid texture, which I love. The final hit is of a citrus zest. Like oil squeezed from the lemon skin, not a micro-planing of the skin. I received two 12oz bags of the Guatamala: one drip grind, one whole bean. I tried it hot with the drop grind and it was shocking good, as noted above. The beans I ground for cold brew. The cold brew had a stronger chocolate back end but while the fruit flavor disappeared, the lemon oil remained. I like cold brew better in general because of the lower acidity but the difference between the hot and cold brew versions did not have a substantial difference in the amount of acid. Excellent and recommended. Would love it if they tried a dark or even espresso roast. It might lose some of the nuance, but I bet the chocolate would stand out further. I was also given a bag of Curiosity blend. This was medium roast and very smooth. My partner loved this more than the Guatamala, especially the cold brew, and could drink it all the time. They called it a very clean, smooth coffee with no bite. I found it a very good coffee but with no standout flavors. I also thought it had a slightly rough aftertaste on the back of the tongue. Time to run to the Brooklyn Navy Yard for another bag. 😋😋😂😋😋“

“We visited the place last Saturday. The cheese bread is fresh but not really the bagels we got. We waited so long ; we found out that my daughter’s order was given to someone else but they did not care to replace it at once. When we asked about our order, that’s the time they rushed to prepare it , in less than five minutes, the sandwich was handed to us. When we were in the car since we’re already late for our next appointment, my daughter found out that the replacement was wrong. She paid for plain bagel with double eggs, bacon, and cheese but she was given with plain bagel with cheese only. They asked for our phone number but did not initiate the call. I hope they will do better in their team work.“

I want to thank Kaleena again for her patience, thoughtfulness, resourcefulness and passion for all-things-coffee. “Solid State Coffee is my secret go-to after the American Museum of Natural History with kids. It can get crowded, but the line moves fast, which matters a lot when you’re operating on museum-level child energy.

What keeps me coming back is that both the coffee and the food are genuinely very good. This is not just a “parents in survival mode” stop. The menu has real range: solid savory options for adults, including lighter choices like avocado toast and a super grain bowl, plus easy kid fuel like tomato soup, grilled cheese, buns, and hot cocoa. Their syrniki are my personal favorite — baked farmer’s cheese patties served with strawberry jam and whipped labneh — and they manage to feel both comforting and protein-packed. 

The café is on West 71st Street and is open daily from 7 AM to 4 PM, which makes it especially convenient for a breakfast, lunch, or post-museum reset. The company also roasts thoughtfully curated, ethically sourced coffee in small batches, which tracks with how carefully everything tastes.

“Excellent chocolate chip cookie. The cherry vanilla latte was good, a little bit artificial tasting but not too sweet. They use Minor Figures oat milk which is great. The service (woman who served us) was not polite, and didn’t give us the cookie we paid for until I went back up (and didn’t apologize either). The barista was polite at least. Prices are a bit higher than average here for coffee. Seating was mostly full but we found a seat, which was cleaned but still wet, so I had to wipe it down. Overall I’d come back but with the price and service it wouldn’t be my first choice.“

Also grabbed a croissant square filled with Nutella (didn't catch the exact name, but honestly, you can't go wrong with Nutella). “Directions for semi trucks Off the 95 take 495 ( towards Lincoln tunnel !!!don't go in tunnel) take last exit to Hoboken steep down hill on to s marginal hwy take a right onto jfk Blvd take that down to 19th St and make a right ( before the Exxon gas station) once you take that right take the next left at the light down Willow Ave. Take that small overpass to 15th Street and make a right . Then take 15th St to Jefferson St which is another right turn to 16th Street which is a one way you will have to go backwards towards the docks. Ppl are nice clean building professional once you back into the dock you'll have to disconnect and hand over your license and park down the street“

“Coffee addict visiting from Portland, Oregon. This sweet place was down the street from where we’re staying. I visited just after opening and was greeted warmly by the owner. Got a drip coffee, an oat milk latte, a blueberry scone and a morning roll. Everything was delicious, and I left with a smile. I’ll be back!

Update: I went for my morning coffee every morning while in Brooklyn. The owner (Kent) was always unfailingly friendly. I can add the vegan banana nut muffin to the list of excellent baked goods I tasted. I also bought a bag of House Coffee Blend beans (roasted in-house) to remind me of those Brooklyn mornings. I’ll definitely be back once we’re visiting Brooklyn again.“
