“I live in the area and attend college out of town so getting to the library on my off days is tough. I've been looking for a place with a chill ambiance, wifi, good tea, and coffee. Well, look no more for me. I thoroughly enjoyed my time here. Great rustic look, comfy seating with back support, loads of outlets for laptops, and the second-floor space are super cute and cozy too. Oh and there's a small little outside area that's pretty cool as well. Shaquille (hope I spelled it right) was AMAZING! So down-to-earth, friendly, polite, and easy to talk to. She made me the Tumeric latte for me and I all but licked the cup clean. I had the hummus & cucumber on sourdough toast and it was divine. Also, a great option for vegans. I totally recommend this place if you have similar needs or just want to hang out with some friends. I will surely be going back.“

“Wow! I’m so happy I found this place when I was searching for breakfast near my mom’s doctor appointment! I was going to go to McDonald’s but feeling SO lucky like I hit the jackpot with a yummy breakfast spot. I ordered the trippin’ on shrooms - SO DELICIOUS! I also ordered the dulce de leche and it was tasty!“

The vibe is cozy without even trying, it feels lived in, like someone actually thought about how people would feel sitting there, not just how it would look. I went in for coffee with my service dog and ended up staying way longer than I planned. The energy is just so welcoming and unpretentious. No rush, no noise, just good music at the right volume and a space that makes you want to open your notes app and write something. The food and drinks? genuinely obsessed. “So happy we have a Hidden Grounds in JC! Their chai is incredible, probably my favorite I've had anywhere in the JC/NYC area. Their pastries are so good and sometimes there are seasonal ones! It is a tucked away spot but once you know where they are it is a super convenient short walk from Journal Square Transportation Center and many amenities. “Found this not-so-hidden gem inside Hudson Mall, and I’m really glad I stopped by. The mall doesn’t get much attention these days, but this coffee shop, The Coffee Beanery, definitely deserves it.

Ordered the mocha and the white chocolate mocha (both iced), and they were so good. The guy who served us was super kind and just really cool to talk to.

If you’re a coffee lover or just want to try something new, I definitely recommend giving this place a try. Happy to support a small business that truly deserves it.“

“This place gets 5 stars across the board for the vibes, service, and the food. I had the Peanut Butter Latte with an extra shot of espresso and oat milk. Even with the extra shot it was very balanced and smooth. Then I tried their signature breakfast sandwich called “The Lafayette” and it comes with hot honey on the side. It was FIREEE definitely recommend it to anyone who can eat it.

I know they serve other things like ramen and more food besides breakfast, so I will definitely be back if I am in the area. The owner Pat was great to talk to online and the staff in the shop were very kind as well. The spot also has a lot of space and is tucked into a cool nook of Jersey City.

“I usually order the ancho potato burrito with avocado (if you know, you know 😌), but this time I tried some of Alfalfa’s new breakfast items and was really impressed.

The Avocado Tartine is simple but done so well — great sourdough, perfectly ripe avocado, and the crispy shallots and superseed crunch add just the right texture and subtle heat. The Organic Yogurt & Homemade Granola was a standout too: thick, tangy yogurt with cardamom-forward granola, fresh strawberries, and a touch of sweetness from the jam and honey.

Everything tasted fresh, balanced, and thoughtfully made. An easy go-to for a solid breakfast or brunch in JC.“
