“Too difficult to buy a cup of coffee here, the coffee ordering set up should be in the front, not the back and why is it so dark in the back? I want to like this place but it has no vibe…just the sight of staffers running around. The Hostess always looks bored and the back is like a madhouse. It’s one of the only places to get a cup of coffee ☕ near to Rittenhouse Park but where it’s well lit, it’s a quiet upscale grocery shop but the back feels like you’ve entered a subway station at rush hour!

Not sure what the remedy is but I’d suggest that you open up the front space, remove the annoying velvet rope and stop putting “reserved” signs on all of the tables (just sit people there who want to enjoy a cup of coffee for 15 minutes). This is a beautiful spot, but boy does it stress me out once you walk in the back.

Put on Italian music and hire some drop dead gorgeous guy or gal who knows how to convey ITALIAN WARMTH to customers!!! Every time I walk in the hostess is shy. She should be greeting guests and be IN FRONT, not planted at the podium.

“I’ve been here before but wanted to treat myself to a bag of beans! The barista was so kind and warned that the bag I grabbed was on the high end price wise. Their words: “this bag is roasted by the godfather of specialty coffee”. I used to be a quality control manager for a local shop in Philly so thankfully I knew what I was getting myself into! I ground the coffee beans using my baratza burr grinder and brewed it using my chemex. WOW! The coffee roasted in Norway is maybe the best at home coffee I’ve ever had. It’s very tea like and sweet with such a nice acidity. Perfect for this rainy Monday 😊. If you like specialty coffee and baristas with great attention to detail, give this place a visit. They know what they’re doing!“

“my favorite coffee shop in philly. used to be my go to neighborhood coffee shop because i just live right around the corner. i now live in a different neighborhood but i still come here because the coffee is so good & i guess the cherry on top is the baristas are consistently very nice & friendly as well. every time i come here, its always a nice litte treat. the vibe is always right. theres some seating inside, but theres seating outside too which is nice. & the neighborhood is nice & quiet. could just sit, sip my coffee, disassociate or people watch haha“

“Yet another hidden gem in Philly. I came in for the first time today by chance and immediately felt so so so welcomed into the space. It is much smaller of a space than Madis Coffee Roasters (Twisted Grounds has only a few small tables to sit), but the staff is equally as kind, friendly, talkative, and enjoyable to be around. You can quickly tell that the team here has a great rapport with each other, and it makes the atmosphere comfortable and fun to be in. They have super cute merch and engaging conversations. I'm excited for this to be one of my regular haunts in Philly. The manager runs this place like a well-oiled machine.“

“I took my mom out to brunch and just randomly decided to walk across the street and see some vendor shops set up outside. I was informed that this is the best coffee around by the owner (who also passionately raved about his wife who runs the business). I wasn't skeptical but told him, EVERYBODY says that but I was happy to indulge. I ended up grabbing a coffee and well, it did not disappoint. The taste was amazing, the experience was personable, and the impact will ensure anytime I travel to Philly I will come back to grab my coffee here. “I’ve walked by this spot so many times, and it seemed every time I was hungry they were closed (closed on weekends) but today I finally stepped in. I ordered 2 bánh mìs and a Vietnamese coffee. Pete, the owner/operator of the spot was the only one there and we instantly jumped into great conversation about the music scene in Philly back in the late 90s. We ended up knowing a lot of the same people. Philly is a tight knit group. So even before eating the food I was already a fan of this spot. Pete served me his special take on Vietnamese coffee while we talked and he made the sandwiches. The iced coffee was excellent, but different and less sweet than Vietnamese coffee I’ve had in the past. He also used ice cubes made of coffee which was an added bonus for a coffee junkie like myself. After we talked for nearly 20 min, I walked home with my sandwich and WOW! Such a solid bánh mì! I told him to make it like he would make it for himself (spicy) and he knocked it out of the park. I’ll be back and I’ll be bringing all my music friends here when they are in the neighborhood. I highly encourage Olde City residents as well as Philly locals to give this place a try!“

For those familiar with the scene in Houston, their pandan foam coffee is similar to Le'DRIP, but with richer coffee notes and their lychee matcha is similar to that of Kohiko's (though nothing will beat Kohiko in my heart!). “This la colombe is exceptional. The coffee is delicious its flavourful but not too bitter and their milk to coffee ratio is so correct. I love their iced brewed teas. The interior is so big and lots of seating. Music is played at a perfect level where you could enjoy it or tune it out. I haven't had much of their food but I did have their lasagna soup last year and it was superb. The sandwiches and other items look delicious , they have a brick oven for toasting their bread which is so extra i love it.“
