“We threw a drop-in Buffet dinner for family and friends at Houlihans for 30 to 35 people. The room is spacious and accommodated everyone comfortably. Our server Eileen was excellent and the food was delicious. Michelle who assisted with the catering was very detail oriented and help me plan a great event. “We had a quiet, comfortable stay while heading south through New York and New Jersey. Room was clean and comfortable. Everything worked with the exception of one lightbulb, which was quickly replaced. The front desk staff and the maintenance engineer were very friendly and helpful. Beds were comfortable. Our one “complaint” was with the height of the toilet seat. For old folks with old knees, it’s much too low and there was nothing to grab onto. It also would have been helpful to have a listing of the tv channels. There was no channel guide on the remote. We had to surf through the channels to see what was on. We had a very good dinner in The Koi Lounge. Food was good! Price was reasonable! Server/bartender was very pleasant, but service was slow because she was working alone. The kitchen is not adjacent to the lounge, so she had to do lots of running back and forth. The main restaurant was closed because the hotel was not busy enough to warrant opening it in the middle of this week. The breakfast buffet @ $18 was very good. It featured a good variety of hot and cold items + eggs/omelettes cooked to order. Good coffee! We would stop here again when passing through.“

The staff were so welcoming and child-friendly. I have never been anywhere as child-friendly in Bergen County. Their outside seating area is perfect for families with young children in tow. Let's get to the food.....was unforgettable. My son and daughter in law had the spinach/artichoke dip and burrata. My husband and I split one of the best wedge salads we've ever had. Dinner entrees were prime rib with loaded baked potato and the pork chop. All of us enjoyed every bit. Dessert was a 4 way split of oreo cheesecake, tiramisu and key lime pie. What a delicious end to a most enjoyable evening. We will DEFINITELY be back. Thank you Fire and Oak for a memorable night.“

“The dining experience was excellent. However, do not bring your own birthday cake. Because the restaurant will charge you $2.75 per person to slice it. I find this obnoxious and unnecessary as a charge to their customers. The manager, I spoke to, “Junior“ was most disagreeable and clearly did not know how to work with customers who were having a large party for an event. I paid a lot of money for that birthday cake and we spent quite a bit of money there as well, but he would not budge which I was very put off by. So, in the future, understand that they will charge you 275 per person per slice. Maybe not the best place to go for a birthday celebration. I know I will not be returning for that kind of event again.“
