“The weather was nice today. Sun was out, the sunroof was open. Went for a drive with my niece and stopped in to Sweet Parlor Ice Cream Shop in Hilllsborough for some sweet treats. I had not been through Hillsborough in a while and decided to check out was was new in town to me. This place was great! They had some unique offerings that I took an interest in immediately. We decided to try the U-Be My Bae Sundae and the Sweet Tea Bubble Waffle Sundae. They looked great, and more importantly tasted even better! Not overly sweet and the different textures of crunch, creamy, and soft bites were all present and quite pleasant. I will definitely be back to try the other items on the menu. He told us about growing up in Italy and how he worked to renovate the restaurant himself.Everything we had was delicious. “Now that I don't work here anymore... I can be honest....kidding!Best staff ever and the ice cream is really good. My go-to is either the Lost in the Woods, Boro Blast, or H.E.S Mess fusion. But I do also LOVE the pumpkin cheesecake fusion in the fall! My favorite flavor has to be Lil Blue Panda so yummy so good. “My wife and I have come to fresh tiki bar several times now. I have had their soft serve vanilla which is out of this world. As well as their Italian cookie which if you like Italian rainbow cookies you owe it to yourself to try at least once. The place is fairly small inside but it does have outdoor seating. The menu is a good size for an ice cream place, they don't have 5 million flavors but when the number gets that high they often get real weird. The fun flavors they do have seam limited and on a rotation, but I think this allows them to provide a higher quality product from what I've had. I'm fairly certain this is a husband and wife team and I have only dealt with the wife, but she is always very friendly and has a general chipper demeanor.This is a great place for a small date night treat or to take the kids and get a little ice cream.“

“I've been in here a twice since they opened and this place is great. They have a wide selection of bubble tea options as well as ice cream (rolled) and other snacks. The first time I came, I got the lychee slushie with tapioca boba, which was really good. Next I got the chocolate chip rolled ice cream with m&m's, which was pretty good too. The owner is very friendly and actually remembered me when I came in the second time (maybe a month in between visits). They have a loyalty punch card for ice cream and drinks and several games in their retro seating area. There are some old school games and a little plastic axe throwing area which would be fun for kids. If you're looking for a yummy treat, give this place a try. It's their second location and the owner is very friendly, serving up tasty treats.“

“Best soft serve I have ever had!!! Honestly... I can't say enough good things about this place. To say I was pleasantly surprised I'd an understatement. I got a soft serve swirl with cookie dough bites and it was delicious. The ice cream is perfectly creamy, and the vanilla had an almost marshmallow-y taste to it. It also sort of reminded me of the cream inside an Oreo. Perfectly balanced between creamy and cold- it didn't taste watered down or too "Icy". My mom and my 16 month old also agreed. (Ok, my mom agreed. My son was a fan but he doesn't quite understand just how good it was yet.) My son didn't finish his, so we brought it back with us to upstate NY. Yes, it was good enough to save in the freezer at our hotel and then to shlep back home so I could enjoy one more time. And also so my husband could try it since I couldn't stop raving about it. Also worth noting- I'm very impressed at their variety. They have lots of soft serve and hard ice cream flavors. “Never one to leave a review but I felt this was necessary. My mother is unfortunately not doing well with her battle with stage 3 cancer. Right now, it’s the little things that mean the world to her and for right now, it seems to be the same for me as well. Tonight my mother was craving one of her favorites, Rita’s! When I got to the window and gave my order to the woman working (large vanilla custard with chocolate sprinkles and a cone on the side) she asked me very politely, if the order was for me? I replied saying no, it was for my mother. She then asked me if I was sure I didn’t want anything and even though it was very hard to say no “on a diet” I did and told her nope, just the custard! She proceeded to put 2 cones and 2 spoons in the bag, packed it so nicely and then told me that I am a good son and that my mom is lucky to have me. I don’t need any recognition for what I do for my mom, but let me tell you when you are at your lowest and a complete stranger shows genuine kindness and compassion it hits different! “This is a cite place. Didn't know about it. You can be served inside or out. There is a decent size seating area to eat. They have a great selection of ice cream and toppings. I'm usually a sprinkle guy but decided to try the cotton candy and simple soft serve vanilla. It was really good. I do plan on going back for the hard serve ice cream, seeing as there are flavors there I have not seen and would like to try.“

“Rita’s is a great ice cream shop which also serves Italian ice! My favorite thing to get here is a cotton candy Italian ice with cotton candy custard on top. The ice cream itself tastes like it's bought from a supplier - not made in house, so it doesn't taste special. What you see is what you get here; there aren't any hidden gems, but if you're looking for ice cream in the area, this will do. I rated it slightly higher because as of the time of this post the prices are reasonable. Tip: some years they close shop during the colder seasons.“

“I was seen very quickly by the staff and they answered all of my questions about sizes and specials. Kyle happened to be the gentleman who helped me. He was quick and polite. A real pleasure. I felt really bad that I was unable to tip him or the great staff there using my card. Knowing that most don’t carry cash after Covid-19 (because let’s be honest, money was dirty before the pandemic) it seems unfair that the staff is unable to get tips via another method. People who work customer service jobs deserve to be able to receive tips for making sure the customers are taken care of.
