I had not been through Hillsborough in a while and decided to check out was was new in town to me. This place was great! They had some unique offerings that I took an interest in immediately. We decided to try the U-Be My Bae Sundae and the Sweet Tea Bubble Waffle Sundae. They looked great, and more importantly tasted even better! Not overly sweet and the different textures of crunch, creamy, and soft bites were all present and quite pleasant. I will definitely be back to try the other items on the menu. “Now that I don't work here anymore... I can be honest....kidding!Best staff ever and the ice cream is really good. My go-to is either the Lost in the Woods, Boro Blast, or H.E.S Mess fusion. But I do also LOVE the pumpkin cheesecake fusion in the fall! My favorite flavor has to be Lil Blue Panda so yummy so good. I love hole in the wall type shops that produce good product and provide friendly service at reasonable prices, and that's exactly what you'll find here.We went with the Viking Vanilla and Strawberry Fields. Both were rich and creamy, and were a delicious treat. While the Viking Vanilla was more of your typical vanilla ice cream, the Strawberry Fields really stood out as high quality as it contained pieces of actual strawberry inside...probably the best strawberry ice cream in the area. Although it's cash only, the prices are reasonable with generous portions, with a kids or regular size more than ample size to satisfy any sweet tooth craving. I'm happy to support small businesses like Gil & Bert's, and recommend them to others.“
“This was my first time having a mochinut and it was absolutely delightful!!! Their taro mochinut has been my favorite flavor so far. The texture is sooo good. It's both chewy like mochi and doughy like a donut, the perfect mixture of both! Not too heavy and not too sweet. And their variety of flavors is amazing and unique! “My wife and I have come to fresh tiki bar several times now. I have had their soft serve vanilla which is out of this world. As well as their Italian cookie which if you like Italian rainbow cookies you owe it to yourself to try at least once. The place is fairly small inside but it does have outdoor seating. The menu is a good size for an ice cream place, they don't have 5 million flavors but when the number gets that high they often get real weird. The fun flavors they do have seam limited and on a rotation, but I think this allows them to provide a higher quality product from what I've had. I'm fairly certain this is a husband and wife team and I have only dealt with the wife, but she is always very friendly and has a general chipper demeanor.This is a great place for a small date night treat or to take the kids and get a little ice cream.“

“I've been in here a twice since they opened and this place is great. They have a wide selection of bubble tea options as well as ice cream (rolled) and other snacks. The first time I came, I got the lychee slushie with tapioca boba, which was really good. Next I got the chocolate chip rolled ice cream with m&m's, which was pretty good too. The owner is very friendly and actually remembered me when I came in the second time (maybe a month in between visits). They have a loyalty punch card for ice cream and drinks and several games in their retro seating area. There are some old school games and a little plastic axe throwing area which would be fun for kids. If you're looking for a yummy treat, give this place a try. It's their second location and the owner is very friendly, serving up tasty treats.“

“Best soft serve I have ever had!!! Honestly... I can't say enough good things about this place. To say I was pleasantly surprised I'd an understatement. I got a soft serve swirl with cookie dough bites and it was delicious. The ice cream is perfectly creamy, and the vanilla had an almost marshmallow-y taste to it. It also sort of reminded me of the cream inside an Oreo. Perfectly balanced between creamy and cold- it didn't taste watered down or too "Icy". My mom and my 16 month old also agreed. (Ok, my mom agreed. My son was a fan but he doesn't quite understand just how good it was yet.) My son didn't finish his, so we brought it back with us to upstate NY. Yes, it was good enough to save in the freezer at our hotel and then to shlep back home so I could enjoy one more time. And also so my husband could try it since I couldn't stop raving about it. “Never one to leave a review but I felt this was necessary. My mother is unfortunately not doing well with her battle with stage 3 cancer. Right now, it’s the little things that mean the world to her and for right now, it seems to be the same for me as well. Tonight my mother was craving one of her favorites, Rita’s! When I got to the window and gave my order to the woman working (large vanilla custard with chocolate sprinkles and a cone on the side) she asked me very politely, if the order was for me? I replied saying no, it was for my mother. She then asked me if I was sure I didn’t want anything and even though it was very hard to say no “on a diet” I did and told her nope, just the custard! She proceeded to put 2 cones and 2 spoons in the bag, packed it so nicely and then told me that I am a good son and that my mom is lucky to have me. I don’t need any recognition for what I do for my mom, but let me tell you when you are at your lowest and a complete stranger shows genuine kindness and compassion it hits different! “This is a cite place. Didn't know about it. You can be served inside or out. There is a decent size seating area to eat. They have a great selection of ice cream and toppings. I'm usually a sprinkle guy but decided to try the cotton candy and simple soft serve vanilla. It was really good. I do plan on going back for the hard serve ice cream, seeing as there are flavors there I have not seen and would like to try.“

The ice cream itself tastes like it's bought from a supplier - not made in house, so it doesn't taste special. I got a scoop of coffee ice cream and my boyfriend got a scoop of chocolate ice cream with chocolate sprinkles. The scoops were decent sizes, but for the price I think that they were smaller than I would have liked. However, the ice cream met my expectations and was nicely creamy. The icy can be very sweet depending on the flavor you choose. My favorite is a Swedish fish with vanilla gelati. Probably the best combination known to mankind. This is the best ice-cream hands down.
