“Small and absolutely perfect. Make reservations! Also open for lunch on some days and there is a sushi bar available. The sushi is unique in that each piece is individually wrapped in sustainable plastic so the nori retains its crunchiness. Have you ever noticed that nori on typical sushi is soggy? I didn't either, until I tried the crunchy nori at Nami Nori. So good! The whole table was raving about it. We had a business lunch here with 6 guests from NYC and LA. Everyone thought it was spectacular. It was a wonderful way to show off the amazing restaurant scene in Montclair. Beautiful minimalist space. Pretty expensive so date night or special occassion appropriate. Will be back!Vegetarian options: They are good about veg options. Several on the menu.Dietary restrictions: They ask up front and seem very diligent. Top notch.Parking: Street or garage only.Kid-friendliness: Not super kid friendly but could work for sushi-loving adventurous kids who can handle fine dining.“

“Staff is super friendly and attentive. First time, and they treated us like we've been coming here for years. Rolls are delicious! Above par. Ramen hit the spot on a cold day but certainly not the best in the area. Ani Ramen still retains that title. However, if you're looking for great service, a solid asian fusion selection, and tasty rolls, it's hard to go wrong here. ? They even have some Korean dishes like bulgogi and bibimbap. Overall, happy customer. ?“

“My sister and I decided last minute to go out to dinner and we landed at Toro Sushi. I actually used Google assistant to call the restaurant for me and reserve a table 15 minutes before our arrival. Toro was half full when we arrived at 7pm on a Saturday but, by 8pm it was full so, our timing was perfect. Everything we ordered was excellent... edamame, tuna avocado salad, Congo roll, New York roll, tuna roll and salmon roll. Service was wonderful. We weren't rushed and food came out quickly. I'm definitely bringing my husband here the next time we visit my sister.“

“This is probably one of the best sushi places I've been too. They have lots of vegetarian options! The place has a nice Japanese feel. It also has ample parking in the back. It's byob and there's a wine store literally 1 block away. As for what we got. Unfortunately they don't have the lunch menu on the weekends but that is no where written in there menu. We got the vegetarian tempura. It came with different fried vegetables like broccoli, mushroom and onion. It was ok. We ordered 4 rolls and I will present them in order of my favorite. The mango potato was the best. I loved the sauce and the texture of the fried sweet potato. Next was the pineapple. I loved the sweetness without any needed added sauce to top it. Then was the bugs bunny. It has lots of veggies and a nice Chipotle sauce on top. My least favorite was the Nori jade. I felt the Avocado was too mushy. The service was good but I felt it could have been a little better being that there were only 2 other tables being served.Vegetarian options: Lots of vegetarian sushi options“

“Aozora is a lovely fusion restaurant in Montclair. The decor is simple and clean. The sushi was fresh and delicious. The Tuna Tataki Roll and the Aozora Roll were yummy. But be sure to order the cod with sautéed veggies was perfect and light. The crème brûlée cheesecake was amazing!“

“[Longer Detailed General Review: Repeat Customer, Not Compensated] ?TL:DR 5/5: I haven't had the pleasure of visiting the family-run and owned small business Takara Asian Bistro in Montclair for a long time, but I remember meeting Alan and the staff and always having a lovely, low-key, price-fair, gourmet night. Every tongue's palate is unique, but for what it's worth, without a recent photo, I review many seafood restaurants and try to leave 5-Stars as a Google Reviewer for specific features, so I need to be clear and direct here: Takara Bistro has some of the freshest sashimi in North Jersey. Gemstone. Like a sunny day in February. ? You can taste the difference.-----[More Experiences] One of my family members had eaten at Nobu in Manhattan and remarked that Takara could match them with the quality of some of the choice cuts of the fish. "Different. But good. Better." - was the summary of what we'd say together every night. Any business that serves fish faces the challenges of keeping it fresh and preparing it intentionally, and Takara generally plans for a complete experience every time possible. Some places are overhyped and have 4.9 reviews because it's trendy or unaffordably expensive in another state's city of three million residents or look like a nightclub, but the sushi is only okay. Takara is a local place that wants to make sure you leave full and happier.I've taken childhood friends here after work. I've ordered delivery on the apps multiple times, and if I didn't feel like waiting, I called the store directly or ordered takeout and drove to Montclair from Clifton. I'm not qualified to write for Michelin or anything fancy, but I will say if you taste the food here two separate times, you can't un-taste it by comparison if another restaurant isn't doing it as well.Health and happiness to the quiet and hardworking chefs behind the bar. It is a regular-sized interior and BYOB, so if you drink, I suggest sparkling or white wine from one of the stores in town. Some more extensive and expensive sushi venues in Montclair have lines out of the door on weekends. If you have someone you care for on an idle Saturday night, you can dine in or order out without breaking the bank.Vegetarian options: ? This lengthier review is meant to be a reference to try their sushi and sashimi.Still, locals know they are a fusion restaurant and can make you everything from General Tso's Chicken to Vegan Seaweed Salad and Hot Tea when you want to come in on a weeknight or for Sunday lunch and feel happier for an hour or two with your friends who eat meat or seafood.Dietary restrictions: ?? Yeah, you're good. How this makes me sound as a random Google User to another; I've taken a date who was dieting actively here. While I did not enter a relationship with her, we still think about the dinner when we say hi as good friends. That year, I picked her up from Newark Penn Station in person and drove back north to get to Montclair for a first date. I sat in extra parkway traffic (?) after she took a train because I was a young guy who didn't want to make a wrong impression. We didn't have a gigantic budget that year for her neighborhood in NYC, so I picked Takara on a night she'd be in Jersey. We still laugh that I thought traffic was romantic, but the sashimi is a core memory. ?????So, one TMI embarrassing story for, I guess, food science later: if you're a guy and your girlfriend or date likes Japanese food, impress her by showing her you can taste high-quality and know the difference between super expensive and what is tasty. You don't have to be Anthony Bourdain or Eric Ripert. If your boyfriend, girlfriend, partner, or first date doesn't know much about the different varieties of sashimi or even eat sushi because he's a carnivore or vegan, get him everything else. It's fusion. You can have duck or tofu or seaweed salad. If he loves you and the food is the night's creative fun“

“This place was so cozy and lovely, with such tasty food and delightful service! It was so kind of the owner to give us so many free samples with our food! We ordered the (very well priced) sushi combos, which were two special rolls with miso soup (and I got a boba and some kani salad) and it was delicious. The owner also gave us a pot of green tea, veggie gyoza, the house salad, and some blueberries at the end. She came over often to ask how we were doing. We ended up with leftovers because there was so much food. It was also a very cute atmosphere with doodles from the customers all over the walls. I would definitely come back!Vegetarian options: There seemed to be at least one vegetarian option in all the sections.Parking: It was relatively quiet when we went so the lot might fill up if there are more customers but I had no problems.Kid-friendliness: There were markers, notepads and a sheet to doodle on, if any customers came with kids. I didn’t but I doodled anyway lol.“
