“I really love this restaurant. It has been open here
for over ten years and has always been run by the same owner. I especially enjoy their Chinese dishes and sushi. The style of the place is fantastic, and the atmosphere is incredibly comfortable and pleasant. I always bring my husband and children along, and they love it just as much.“

“If you love sushi and want a dining experience, I highly recommend trying Genki Omakase. They have two branches, both highly rated, and my husband and I had such an amazing dinner here.
It’s a 15-course omakase, where the chefs curate each dish for you and every single bite was exceptional. Sitting at the counter and watching the chefs expertly prepare everything right in front of you made the experience feel so immersive and special. The pacing and flow between each course was seamless and the service was impressively fast without ever feeling rushed.
They also have some standout à la carte options (especially the Kissing roll with wagyu, toro, caviar and foie gras). Absolutely unforgettable. My personal favorite from the omakase was the O’Toro topped with caviar and a delicate dusting of gold, but honestly, every bite was memorable.
They only seat a small number of guests, so I’d definitely recommend making a reservation in advance. Such a beautiful dining experience from start to finish.“

“We had an absolutely fantastic experience at Fushimi Restaurant! The food was delicious, from the appetizers we ordered to our main course. Each dish was expertly prepared and bursting with flavor. We also enjoyed a couple of drinks, which perfectly complemented our meal. What truly made our visit exceptional was the incredible service provided by our waitress, Ohmie. She was attentive, friendly, and made sure we had everything we needed throughout the evening. Her warm demeanor and professionalism truly elevated our dining experience. We strongly recommend Fushimi Restaurant, especially because of the outstanding service we received from Ohmie. We’ll definitely be back!“

“Nice atmosphere and music, perfect for pleasant conversation, fresh ingredients, nice flavorful pairings. The sushi was very fresh. My only criticism was that the hand rolls are served with the seaweed in plastic wrappers, which makes eating the rolls a bit clumsy as you wrestle with the roll to pull off the plastic wrap. Otherwise was a great meal and would recommend.“

“Pros: Good spot, good food, good sushi selection for being a small space. Cons: Place was very busy when we went (6/13/21) and service was slow. Took 20 minutes to get dessert. Some of our plates and soy dishes were not well cleaned from previous use. Ordered and was charged for two dishes to go, but only one was actually packed. Overall 3 stars due to the cons we experienced, but hoping that was just catching them at a bad time.“

“On the Frequency of a Grain of Rice
We just had a lovely evening at Sushi Nakazawa in Los Angeles
You go in the way you go underwater. The door shuts on Robertson Boulevard and the ceiling rolls overhead in slow waves of concrete, blue and gold, and you sit looking up the way you look up from the bottom of a pool. My father was an architect. He said big ideas only happen under tall roofs. I thought of him the second I walked in, which does not usually happen to me over sushi. I paint, I make films and books, I cast bronze. I know what a poured surface costs. Somebody felt every wave of that ceiling. It is tasteful, not obvious, but the waves are there. You can almost taste the salt.
Behind the stone is Daisuke Nakazawa, Jiro’s old apprentice, the one who cooked the same egg two hundred times before it was good enough. I believe the story, because I have lived the other end of it. I lost twenty years of work to a fire once and started the counting over. The slow work is never about the egg. It is about the years, and what the years do to your hands.
The rice is the whole nomenclature here, the grain the old gods kept for the living. Warm as skin, every grain loose and standing alone, the vinegar so nuanced you feel it only as a ghost. I trust smell over memory, and that warm rice hit an old frequency in me I could not name.
We do the same thing with corn in Mexico, where the maize is an ancestor and a god. One seed, a whole cosmos. Both of them, for a minute, at the counter with me.
Then you eat, and silence. I do not know how they did it, but the volume is perfect. The room is alive and you can still have a conversation. Otoro like smoke. Eel soft as an offering. Each piece gone. Seven hundred years ago the monk Muqi painted six persimmons and then had the nerve to paint almost nothing else, and the nothing is the masterpiece. That is the grandfather of this food. Musashi said that from one thing you can know ten thousand. He could have meant a single piece of these beauties.
A place is only its people. Dean guards the biggest sake list in California like a shaman who knows he will convert you. Anthony works the floor like your night is the only thing that matters, and means it.
Alessandro, Vito, and Nakazawa spent years finding these exact humans, because you cannot fake grace, you find it one person at a time.
Every one of them is seriously warm. They are a little obsessed, the good kind. I know that obsession from the inside. I looked at them and saw my own people.
A confession. I go back further with this place than tonight, further than Los Angeles. My paintings hang on the walls of the private New York room. It started the way the best New York things do, with a bet nobody expected anyone to keep. Somebody kept it. I painted, the work went up, and a restaurant became a place with my own hand on its walls.
I came to New York young, out of Mexico, by way of London, with not much, and I learned there are three cities wearing the same disasters. One sells the postcards. Another the tacos and The other keeps you alive, through a kindness nobody photographs, the kind that wants nothing back. Alessandro and Nakazawa gave me that kindness and never took it back. Now they have carried it across the whole country to Los Angeles, and walking into this blue cave and finding it already there, waiting for me, made me feel welcomed again. It made me feel human. That, more than any single piece of fish, is the best part of being here now.
Do not wait. Figure out how to see that kindness, because it manifests in every morsel and every glass.

“Always Craveable 🥂🍣🍞
A special Sunday brunch at the sushi counter where the entire experience was effortless. From the attentive service and finesse of the fresh sushi to the spectacular talent across the kitchen, the passion here makes the quality truly superb.
A highlight of the Mother’s Day brunch was the special Matcha French Toast—a beautiful treat for the palate and a total standout. The touches of Pommery bubbles and fresh flowers made the celebration feel truly memorable.
Happy 1st Anniversary! 🥂
Cheers to Oliver & the kitchen, Joseph, Nick & team for an incredible first year. The care that goes into every plate is unmistakable. In a city filled with endless options, the heart and creativity here are exactly what make this spot a true nabe gem.
Relish and enjoy the moment—navigating year one is a remarkable accomplishment. Keep inspiring everyone, because the best is yet to come.
Thanks for making our month & see you all soon! 🥂✨

10/10 All Around! 🥂✨
Unwinding with a little Friday sparkle and some indulgent nibbles… fabulous as always. The chu-toro tartare with truffle dashi & caviar is always a must-have—paired with Pommery bubbles.
Nick is such a fabulous host! He seamlessly accommodated a last-minute request to pair wines with the tasting menu and expertly guided our move from the bubbles to white wine, sake, and finishing with a perfect red, sharing great insights on each pour, which we all absolutely loved. He was so thoughtful and even provided small tastings for our non-drinking friend so she could experience the flavors!
The Chef’s Tasting Menu was exceptional again, with a great variety of sashimi and sushi. I also couldn’t resist adding some of my favorites: the uni sashimi, seared scallop with uni, and the seared toro—the latter has a fabulous new twist too.
Huge thanks to Nick, all the chefs and kitchen team, the bartender, and the staff for the usual incredible care!
See you all soon!
Prior Review - April 2026
Back at this neighborhood gem—as Nick so perfectly puts it, my little reprieve from the hustle & bustle of NYC. I just found out my review is still stuck in the OpenTable moderation queue since 3/22, so I’m resorting to Google Reviews! (Honestly, this platform is much more seamless and faster.)
During a hectic night, Joseph went above and beyond—from walking us through the tasting menu to ensuring the butter lettuce was paired with the chicken dish! Costas kept everything running smoothly.
The tasting menu is fabulous—kudos to Oliver and the kitchen for the elegant presentation on every dish. The broccolini with caramelized hazelnuts is a standout, with no leftovers to spare. Sitting at the sushi counter watching Andy meticulously craft a full sea bream was a surprise highlight, and Dong provided such amazing and skillful sushi preparation throughout the night. The add-ons for the Chu-toro tartare and seared toro with foie gras and uni are absolute must-haves every time—the uni is such high quality (AAA grade) and incredibly fresh.
Those thoughtful touches made our night the perfect start to the weekend.
Looking forward to the next visit!“

“I thought I liked sushi before, I had no idea how much I loved authentic sushi until DomoDomo. The salmon tataki is delicious, the Spicy Tuna Cones are an absolute must (you’ll thank me) and the desserts are a fusion of tastes I haven’t before had but now must have again. Leo is the best server, these dishes were his idea. Thank you for an amazing night DomoDomo!“

“Blue Ribbon Sushi & Sake is a go-to spot for high-quality sushi in a lively, polished setting. The fish is fresh and expertly prepared, with a menu that balances classic and creative options. The atmosphere feels energetic yet refined. It’s a reliable choice for a satisfying, elevated sushi experience.“
“This place just opened 6 months ago but the omakase is incredible. 75$ for 13 courses with the different combinations and flavors they put together with the freshest ingredients is hard to come by. If you are going to a Broadway show or are near time square and want a memorable omakase experience to round out your night you can’t go wrong here. I highly recommend it. The cost and location for the incredible experience can’t be beat. Our favorite bites were the shrimp and foie gras and the lean tuna with truffle mushroom. On top of that the environment is an intimate sushi bar setting with just 20 seats so you can see the sushi artist in action from any seat you’re in. 10/10 will definitely be back as soon as we can.“

“I have been going to Sushi by Sea regularly since discovering it in 2023. “Chef Yee was an absolutely amazing artist and story teller. The omakase experience was incredible, I highly recommend this curated tasting menu to anyone. It is not only affordable but had such fresh and delicious quality to the seafood. Everything was prepared with great attention to detail. The Chef was great to speak with and made my entire party feel very welcome, it was a very organic and positive time.
I will definitely be back. Great customer service, hospitality and the food was spectacular.

“Sushi Oku is up in my favorite omakases ever.
The egg sundae is probably one of the best bites I’ve ever had. I almost ordered a second one at the end but was too full.
The fish was classic, no frills, omakase except for a few fun dishes here and there. If you’re a sushi purist you will like it here. The ice cream sandwich at the end was also one of my favorite desserts I’ve had at omakase.
The staff was attentive and friendly, and chef was so funny!
The vibes are vintage sports memorabilia and dark interior, which made for a relaxed environment.
I don’t normally repeat omakase places but I would come back here for sure.“

“I got so lucky when I randomly stumbled upon this place while getting lunch at work. As someone who loves chicken teriyaki trust me when I say you must try theirs. I have been searching for the last few years all around the bergen county area for the best chicken teriyaki and I have found it here. This is my absolute favorite! I have tried probably 50+ restaurants and nothing can beat this. From the way they prepare chicken, to the homemade sauce they use, the perfectly cooked rice and the avocado, egg and dumplings they add on.... it is one of the greatest combinations i've ever tasted. On top of that, their sushi is always delicious and fresh. If thats not enough, they also have fantastic owners and workers there. I always get a warm greeting, and they're thankful for my patronage. Fantastic all around. I will be back soon... My favorite sushi spot!“

“Really great sushi spot on Mercer. The fish was super fresh and had amazing texture. You can tell they use high quality ingredients. The sushi rice was just right, perfectly seasoned, and paired really well with the fish.

“It was a decent experience with A LOT of rice. The service was good and the food was fresh. They don’t have sashimi on the menu (I get it, it’s a business). I’d say 70-80% of the menu is rice/carb heavy.
The novelty of the conveyor belt is kind of whatever. You have to get use to eating and looking out for food coming in or the server will come and remind you. You can’t even see the food coming on the higher conveyor belt level because it’s so high up. 90 minute limit, no food left behind.
I just hope they wipe down the ipad after each customer, it’s a lot of touching.“

“Food: 10/10

Ambiance: 10/10
Wow,you have to try this place. The flavors are on another level.
I made a reservation on Resy for 5:30 PM on a Wednesday, and the experience was incredible from start to finish. The space is small and cozy, with an intimate setting—just six guests seated at the bar right in front of the chef, which made the whole evening feel really special.
Everything we tried was amazing, but the standout for me was the smoked hamachi (Japanese amberjack). The flavors were so complex—honestly unlike anything I’ve ever had. I wish they sold that sauce because I would put it on everything.
My second favorite was the kani (crab) hand roll with truffle aioli and potato crisps. The sweetness of the crab paired with the richness of the truffle and the crunch from the crisps was just perfect.
What really elevated the experience was the chef—he walked us through each dish, explaining how the fish was prepared and what went into the sauces, which made it even more memorable.
I would absolutely come back again—no doubt about it. 10/10, highly recommend!“

“I recently visited Sushi Lin with a friend for their omakase experience, and we were both very impressed. The sushi was fresh, beautifully prepared, and the portions were surprisingly generous. For the quality of food and overall experience, the pricing felt very reasonable.
The atmosphere was warm and inviting, and the sushi chef was professional, friendly, and clearly passionate about his craft. The restaurant’s interior is also well-designed, creating a comfortable and enjoyable dining environment.
What surprised me most is that Sushi Lin doesn’t seem to get as much attention on Yelp as it deserves. It’s one of those places that quietly delivers a great dining experience without a lot of hype. If you’re looking for quality omakase at a fair price, I highly recommend giving Sushi Lin a try.

“I’ve been coming to Sushi Story since the day it opened, and it continues to impress every single time. The first thing that stood out to me was the service—warm, immediate, and sincere. The moment you walk in, you’re greeted and made to feel welcome. The waitresses are consistently polite, attentive, and always carry a genuine smile. In particular, the waitress with the slicked-back hair has a way of elevating every visit; she’s made several special occasions truly memorable. The restaurant is almost always busy, and for good reason. Because seating can be difficult to secure, I strongly recommend making an RSVP ahead of time. Even with the constant flow of guests, the experience never feels rushed. The master sushi chef is actively engaged with diners, adding an extra touch of authenticity and hospitality to the meal. As for the food—exceptional. The salmon and tuna are always fresh, vibrant, and prepared perfectly. It’s easily one of the best places to enjoy a great evening out with family or friends. And don’t forget: it’s BYOB, so feel free to bring your favorite bottle of wine. Sushi Story is truly a gem, and I look forward to visiting again very soon.“

“Hands down the best sushi in the entire Kearny area — nothing else even comes close.
We always ordered their sushi and sashimi deluxe and always blown away by how fresh, clean, and beautifully prepared everything was. The quality is always incredibly consistent — every single time we order from them, the fish is top-notch and the flavors and freshness are perfect. Even the miso soup that came with the sushi is great too.
Their service is also fast, friendly, and reliable.
We always finish our meal feeling satisfied, grateful, and impressed. They only offer take outs which is always readily available by the time we got there.
If I could give them 100 stars, I truly would.
Highly, highly recommend!“
