“I’m in the area for just one night and needed to figure out where I could get a quick dinner. I saw Sophie’s Bistro and after getting a recommendation from a colleague, I made a reservation. It’s a really casual place; not pretentious in any way, but the bartender was both talented and conversational and made something off menu to enjoy. For dinner, I decided on French Onion Soup and Steak Frites and thoroughly enjoyed myself. Besides this, the bread service they bake in house is amazing and I learned about the owner and how he treats his people and that made me even happier that I came in. I wish we had a place like this where I live; I would be there all the time. I’m not sure when I’ll be back in the area, but next time I’m near Somerset, I know where I’ll do dinner. Give it a try, you’ll be happy“

“Excellent - wonderful lunch menu with daily specials . Soups snd risottos are my favorites but the entrees are delicious and perfect amounts. The soufflés - from choc to mango - are to die for. Even the expressos are good.“

“A little cool French inspired restaurant with a bar upfront, seating wrap-around in Maplewood NJ. Street/muni parking, so it may be a little hard to find a spot on the busy days.
Service was ok; often came around for water and interrupted conversations for picking up plates (some false starts with people still eating).
I tried the French Onion Soup - love the crisp crunch of the crouton, but the soup itself was overly sweet. The escargot looked great - will have to try that next time. Even my neighbor's salad looked really good.
Tried the special pork chop - giant, thick cut and delicious, which was good it was thick, the balsamic maple glaze was far too sweet otherwise, a little went a long way, but the mushroom/farro/kale was soaked underneath, tough to eat it all since too sweet.
The dessert - they were able to do a candle, but they brought out the wrong dessert (a coffee panna cotta? instead of the chocolate lava cake). I had a great strawberry panna cotta, a little champagne flavor.
Overall, tended to the sweet side, will have to try some of the other dishes next time. Definitely very positive points for a trend of what looks to be very good food.“

“I celebrated my birthday at Serenade Restaurant, and it was an exceptional experience. The ambiance was elegant and welcoming, creating the perfect setting for a special occasion. The highlight of the evening was the salmon—cooked to perfection, full of flavor, and beautifully presented.
The attentive and friendly staff enhanced the experience, making the evening truly memorable. If you’re looking for a dining spot with fantastic food and a wonderful atmosphere, Serenade Restaurant is definitely worth a visit. Highly recommended!“

“I love coming to Wasai Bistro whenever I’m visiting the east coast. I’ve followed Chef Nelson since his days at Aozora and Wabi Sabi. His food quality, menu options, and value are unmatched in the area. Once you try his food you will understand why he has so many repeat diners. I highly recommend the Mes Reves Roll, Uni and bone marrow ramen, Miso glazed sea bass entree and salmon lover entree but it’s very hard to go wrong with anything Chef Nelson serves. Parking is street parking only but honestly I’ve always had a very easy time finding a spot. BYOB so you can drink what you love.“

“The staff was extremely friendly and accommodating. They knew about a gluten-free allergy which was extremely helpful and they were very kind to people. The food here was absolutely fantastic. Only down side is we got the shrimp pad thai and it only had 5 shrimp which is expected but for lunch I would have liked a little more since it was almost 100% noodles with very little egg or veggies in it. Overall, the noddles were amazing. The lunch special came with a salad which was also very good. I would totally come back here again.
Dietary restrictions: Gluten free accommodation! Amazing!
Parking: Free parking for 2 hours.“

“Adorable place. Great for Mother’s Day, Girls Lunch or any reason to have a tea party. Great atmosphere and staff. Nice selection of tea and sandwiches. Adorable kids tea choices. Scones are a little more dense than I am used to. Clotted cream and lemon curd is an extra charge.“
