“Came in on Labor Day eve and it was dead. The servers went out of their way to make my visit exceptional. Food was comparable to Pastis in the Meatpacking but less pretentious. Service was top notch. The decor was gorgeous and food was quality. We had the mussels in white wine and Provençal pizza. The portions were enormous! My husband was in heaven. I would highly recommend a visit. I wish I had room for dessert.“

“Nice coffee place, they have breakfast options and desserts as well. If you dine in they have a second floor, which is more spacious, quiet and very cute.
Parking: Most of the time I am able to find street parking just by cafe, but sometimes you have to circle around“

“Lively, old NY vibe with great food and attentive service. I was able to get a table for one in the middle of the day on a Friday. Ordered the Minetta Burger, cooked to a medium temperature. Slightly more red than I’m used to, but likely correct. More fries than I needed. Really yummy! Would go again.“

“The steak was room temp when it got to me which was a bummer I was really looking forward to it. The leeks were undercooked but the dressing was delicious. I wasn’t as impressed with the food as I thought I would be. However, the staff and service was prime! Lovely experience overall but maybe lower the food expectations.“

“Great location and very intimate setting/decor. Very classy and friendly service. Modern French cuisine is delicious and trendy; it is much better than the traditional French food, which is getting old and tired. Good selection of fine wines.“

“We highly recommend Levant Restaurant in Cobble Hill Brooklyn. The Tuna Tartar and Gazpacho were what we ate in the beginning of meal and thy were wonderful. This was followed by the Chicken Coq Au Vin and Duck Confit elegantly prepared. For desert we had the Almond Cake, a freshly baked almond flour cake with vanilla ice cream. This was light and screamed home made. Everything was enjoyable and served by Levant ‘s dedicated staff. The owner knows who his customers are and greeted us at our table.“

“I was a regular at Chef Markus Glocker’s previous restaurant, Bâtard, in TriBeCa. Sadly the pandemic put an end to my long streak of wonderful dinners there. Once my travel to NYC returned post-pandemic I was excited to once again enjoy his blend of Viennese sophistication and French techniques. I’ve now dined at Koloman around ten times, sampling much of the menu and seeing the evolution in both the food and the service.
Koloman provides extremely high-quality food in a sophisticated but not overly-fancy/stuffy atmosphere. The remodeling done after they replaced the Breslin brings some Deco and Art Nouveau style. The bar is a particular standout with its giant clock and brass accents. Depending on where you are seated the noise level can be fairly high on a busy Friday, but most of the time it is moderate.
Stand-out dishes include the signature salmon en croute, which maintains the core strength of perfectly-cooked fish while adding visual flair and contrasting crunch. The gougeres (with shallot filling, if I recall correctly) are a perfect start to any meal. The schnitzel made its way from Bâtard and still comes with a delightful duo of lingonberry and sea buckthorn sauces (I do find the cook on this can be a bit variable at times, the breading sometimes getting a bit loose/oily). I actually appreciate that the schnitzel isn’t absolutely overwhelming in size, as they often are, so that I can enjoy other courses alongside it. The chicken, in its various incarnations, is honestly pretty much the only chicken I will order at a restaurant. I’m not anti-chicken, but I feel like I’ve mastered it at home, or at least I thought I had until I ate it at Koloman.
My favorite dish on the menu may actually be the celery root tartare; I have to fight with myself to try something else, and it’s what I always recommend when new guests ask what they should start with. It has a perfect acid-salt-bitter-sweet balance that makes me want an entire deli container of the stuff. I ate the new all-plant-based menu at Eleven Madison Park the other night and all I could think was how much better a veg dish Koloman is making than 90% of what is on offer at that three-Michelin establishment.
Desserts often include Austrian classics like Esterházy torte and apple strudel. The duck egg crème brûlée somehow manages to be both incredibly rich while also light enough to scarf down; it’s probably my favorite version of the dish, displacing the one I used to have at John Besh’s Lüke. My personal favorite is the Lübeck Marzipan. It has the most satisfying chew, and I have been known to get one to go to serve as the next morning’s breakfast at my hotel.
A cheese plate was recently added to the dessert menu (I can’t take credit, but I had been repeatedly asking after having eaten so much of the stuff at Bâtard), and the bleu I had the other night alongside (gelled?) honey and cotton candy grapes was the perfect end to a lovely meal with friends.
The wine list reflects a lingering focus on Burgundy and Champagne but also includes loads of other quirky European choices and (for obvious reasons) one of the deepest Austrian lists in the city. Current somm Max and his predecessor Hanna have both guided me to wonderful recommendations and assisted well in maintaining budgets when required.
Service at Koloman has been friendly and efficient, and I’ve noticed some improvement over the last year and a half as well, perhaps a reflection of getting into “the groove” and building a bench of more experienced staff. In addition to the aforementioned somms, I would be remiss if I didn’t mention Angélica, my several-times server who has helped me handle unexpectedly-vegan old friends, semi-awkward business meals, and solo-dining oases. Her knowledge of the menu and ability to adjust her delivery to the mood at the table have been very valuable in giving all my various guests a comfortable and memorable evening. A heartfelt thank you to her an“

“Had a lovely evening here. I highly recommend a visit when in the West Village. The food, drink, and service are an A+! Our server Milli was attentive, friendly, and one of the best servers I’ve had in a long time. A true gem and expert on the best menu items, drinks, and New York! Be sure to ask for a table in her section. The Fraise Crèmeuse cocktail is a must try!“

Everything was just on point and the service was amazing, for what I paid for in the end it was worth it, shout outs to the chefs working hard in the bad and all of the staff in the store for making my time amazing. Thank you for giving us a cake because the halibut took abit to come out but we understood and took our time with eating the foods that were prepared for us by the amazing team of bar Bête ❤️

If this restaurant is in your price range or for a very special date I would recommend it. All the dishes we had were exceptional and like nothing we've had before. Same for the cocktails. “The service, the food, and the view were impeccable. I was able to swap some dishes on the regular menu for some dishes on the vegan menu and all of them were an explosion to my tastebuds. I let my waiter recommend what he thought were appropriate swaps. He asked a few questions and made a decision and everything was just so GOOD. (I can’t put it into appropriate words. I just can’t) I do not drink so I ordered several pomegranate non alcoholic drinks. I can’t remember the name of it specifically. It was so good and it went with all of my meals, even the desserts. The chef deserves everything that he/she ask for and more. I was there four days ago and I am still thinking about my expedience and the food. I am planning my second visit there as well. I felt like a queen. They treated me like royalty. I can’t put into words how the service blew my mind. I live a few states away and drive to NYC just to try Per Se. I went to a broadway show and shopped at Saks Fifth Avenue that day. (a NYC experience ) Then, walked around NYC and then I drove home. Best day ever!!!! Thanks Per Se for a memorable day. They even printed my menu for a keepsake. Lastly, please leave room for the desserts. (yes plural)“

“I absolutely love this restaurant. Chef Yuu, along with the other chefs and staff, is very friendly. It’s hard to find a place in NY where you can enjoy classic French cuisine. This restaurant offers a wonderful experience with a touch of Japanese delicacy and precision, along with unique Japanese ingredients. I also discovered the excellence of wine pairings here; the synergy between the food and wine makes everything even more delicious. The final dessert is outstanding as well. I can’t wait to go back!“

“As mentioned in my previous reviews, I've been following the so-called revival effort of Rockefeller Center with some interest. And by follow, I mean eat.
Some places have been great. Others have been eh. NGL, I was genuinely expecting Le Rock to be eh, despite the recent hype. French fare is always so...extra. It's either obnoxiously rich or ridiculously overpriced, and more often than not, it's both.
Well, Le Rock is date night pricey, but not Michelin-starred pricey, and the food is only rich in the sense of bursting with flavor. We. Loved. It.
For classic pate and carbs, you are well-served with the Cervelle de Canut and Chicken Liver Mousse to start your meal.
I don't think I've ever seen Barbajuans on a French menu outside of France, so major props to Team Le Rock for serving this overlooked appetizer. They were fried to perfection. The Beignets Brandade de Morue were equally perfect, so savory I think I cried a little when the plate was empty.
The squeamish will avoid the Tablier de Sapeur because it says "tripe" on the menu, but they're fools who don't deserve good French food because this is a rare gem in the world of American French dining--a Lyonnaise specialty presented in perfect crispness with perfectly creamy sauce. Similarly, the squeamish (and jaded) will avoid the Escargots Bourguignons, but these were some of the best snails I've had, topped with a wonderful almond flour disc.
The Rigatoni Duck Bolognaise was rich fowl umami--so good, it should be upgraded to entree size, and so good, it puts most pasta restaurants to shame. The Steak Haché was filling without being overdone. I think the one dud of our meal was the very photogenic Leeks Vinaigrette--by all means, 'gram this dish in all its unwrappable glory, but the end result is kind of anticlimactic and too tart. And I love leeks.
Fortunately, dessert made up for that. The much-touted Baba aux Muses Verte is as moist and pillowy as you'd expect, but I'd skip the alcohol drizzle unless you have a problem. However, the Baba was easily surpassed by the fantastic Rhubarb Nougat Glacé aux Pistaches, which was perfectly semi-frozen and bursting with herbal, nutty flavor.“

“Solid choice if you're looking for a kosher dining experience in New York City. The atmosphere is comfortable, and the menu offers a nice selection of steaks and other French-inspired dishes. The quality of the meat stands out, and the service is generally good. Prices are a bit high, but considering the kosher certification and the quality of the food, it's understandable. It can get busy, which might mean a bit of a wait and a noisier dining room, but overall, it's a good spot for a nice meal.“
