“Had breakfast here early on a Saturday with a friend. Food was good for sure. However, EVERY person working at this restaurant attended to us. We had a hard time finishing one sentence of our conversation without being asked how things were or if we wanted more coffee. I'm serious, no fewer than 6 people visited our table. Our waitress, Marissa, was personable and helpful; she was taking care of us very well. The 1-star for atmosphere was because the OWNER came to our table and asked if we wanted more coffee. I declined, but my friend accepted. I swear she did this just to make him go away as Marissa had offered us coffee moments before and she'd declined. THEN WE OVERHEAR the manager giving Marissa a hard time because we ACCEPTED COFFEE. His assumption was that she had not been attending to us instead of understanding that women know that the male ego has a hard time with the word NO. Not only should management not be giving a good waitress a hard time, they certainly should not do it where customers can hear. Gross!“

“Tasty lemon ricotta pancakes. Prepare to wait for your food. For some reason I waited about 20 minutes for my breakfast when otheres who ordered after me were served.

I always forget to ask about up-charges for substitutions. The server excitedly assured me I could but neglectsed to inform about the extra $3. it felt like trickery. She should have kept me informed. Did she want a bigger tip? Leaves a bad impression.“

My only issue is that on Aug 12 2025 I ordered my usually breakfast sandwiches and instead of telling me they ran out of eggs they sold me the sandwiches at full price and yea beef bacon cheese on a roll with jelly does not hit the same without eggs. I didn't hold it against them and I came in today Aug 13 and me not even asking for anything free or any favors started to inform the woman at the counter what happened and she just cut me off mid sentence and asked for my order she clearly did not care. I left it alone and this was my favorite breakfast spot but today will be the last time I give them my business. The food is great tho.“

Walking in, there’s an immediate sense of familiarity. IHOP has that comforting, no-frills atmosphere where families, friends, and solo diners all feel at home. It’s dependable—and sometimes, that’s exactly what you want.

I went with the classics: pancakes, eggs, and a side of bacon. The pancakes were the highlight—light, fluffy, and perfectly golden, soaking up syrup just right without falling apart. The eggs were cooked well, and the bacon struck that nice balance between crispy and tender.

Coffee, as always, played an important role. It was rich, warm, and exactly what you expect from a classic breakfast spot, with refills keeping the table going.

Service, however, was a bit of a different story. Visiting on Palm Sunday, the restaurant was noticeably busier than usual, which seemed to impact the overall experience. While the staff remained polite, service was slower and less attentive than one might hope. It’s understandable given the holiday crowd, but it did take away slightly from an otherwise enjoyable meal.

What stands out most about IHOP is its consistency. It doesn’t try to reinvent breakfast—it simply delivers it. Even on a busy holiday, the food held its standard, which says a lot.

IHOP may not be a culinary revelation, but it remains a reliable go-to for comfort food and familiar flavors—just perhaps not at peak holiday hours.

“This was my first time eating at this Texas Weiner joint and was the second of four Texas Weiner spots we visited on the day. They are a family owned and operated restaurant for over 50 years. The interior is a bit animated with its menu signs and had the second largest seating capacity of the four places. While not very large there was more than enough seating available. \n\nThis Texas Weiner-only tour included four luncheonettes located in Dunellen, Middlesex and Plainfield. Our order included a classic Texas Weiner up that were graded according to Texos Weineros’ 8 Commandments:\n-\tThou shalt not serve a hot dog with no snap or shorter than thy bun\n-\tThou shalt only serve quality hot dogs made from beef and/or pork\n-\tThy hot dog must not taste like the salt of the earth\n-\tThou shalt serve hot dogs on fresh, traditional hot dog rolls\n-\tThy hot dog roll shall never the star of the meal\n-\tThou shalt not serve watery sauce or sauce without depth of flavor\n-\tThou shalt mince thy sweet onion and not chop them\n-\tThou shalt serve brown deli mustard\n\nWhat I Liked:\n-\tThe hot dog was all beef\n-\tThe hot dog bun was fresh and was not the star of the meal\n-\tThe Texas Weiner sauce had a good depth of flavor\n-\tThe onions were sweet. “I went there on a Saturday during the Puerto Rican Festival in Perth Amboy. It was crowded, and people were waiting for a table, but we eventually got one in about 10-15 minutes. The food was good. Patty Melt with Beer-Battered Onion Rings is always a good choice.“

All the other breakfast sandwiches are also really good, and the prices are very reasonable. I’ve only had their breakfast so I can’t comment on their other food.

I’d mostly recommend takeout here, yes there is a seating area but it’s kind of small.

I was very impressed how good service my server HMaee ( I might spell his name wrong ) offered -
he was the only one greeting me (meanwhile there ware couple younger female, waitresses busier checking on their cell phones then pay attention on walk in customers ) he worn smile and very fairly hosting people( there were party of 3 walking after me but he lead me to his section and them to other services section ) ; he talks politely and treat me the same as serving bigger group tables not because my table only me one customer- ( I had bad experiences with IHop at Elizabeth, NJ )
