“9/8/25 - Another Monday night and the family wanted Chinese again. And that means another night I didn't get to go to my regular place.\n\nTonight, we did take out from a place in Sayreville, NJ called New Lams Garden. One of the things about living in this area is that there's no shortage of great places to pick up a meal and this absolutely applies to Chinese food. \n\nLams is a little bit further out than my regular place but the quality here may make me want to travel the extra miles. \n\nI ordered Beef and Bean Curd with a pork egg roll and got in on a few steamed pork dumplings too. \n\nThe Beef and Bean Curd was perfectly cooked. The vegetables they used were all cooked perfectly. They were all drenched in a delectable brown sauce and snapped when you bit them. The egg roll was a bit greasy but more meaty than the ones that are usually available in this area. Appreciated! And the dumplings are clearly the ones are prepared on site and not just bought from a wholesaler. And I LOVE that. \n\nMy daughter ordered chicken lo mein. You can just tell by the color of the dish how awesome it tasted. \n\nSo yes I still have a solid Chinese place that I will return to and review. But in the mean time, New Lams Garden is more than just an adequate substitute. \n\nPoints were deducted for clunky website with no ability to order online.\n\nOverall Rating: A-\n\nPS--- best thing about Chinese food is LEFTOVERS! I will enjoy this meal at least twice more in the coming days.“

“one of my favorite places to order food from. The mini pan fried dumplings are incredible along with everything else we have ordered. And for chicken fingers it doesn't get better than here. The orders are fast, hot and fresh and well done. Especially the luncheon specials. Generous portions and every single dish we have ordered was incredible. Worth the trip going there.“

“This is our usual go-to. The sesame chicken is delicious, and so is the chicken&broccoli. The fried wontons are some of the best I've had. Sometimes you have to repeat parts of the order again, but the order always comes correct, hot, and delicious. The prices have DEFINITELY jumped, but honestly- What prices haven't?“

“Best Chinese food in the area. I've tried others, but have been coming here consistently for about 10 years (they were closed for a bit due to a fire in the shopping mall). Call ahead for takeout and the wait time is never long. Great portions and the food is always hot and ready. Not really a place to dine-in; maybe one or two tables.“

“Rich and flavorful broth! Great sides!

Wow! Firstly, very lovely first impression walking in and being seated. I am a big fan of the robin-egg colored tableware and the Miniso Dundun chicken timers lol. The place felt very clean and fresh, upon arriving.

Food:
The broth was extremely rich and flavorful! Genuinely tasted like it was prepared for a long time (10 hours) just like they advertise! It tasted very savory and it pairs well with the chicken and the other sides! The fish maw white fungus, chinese yam, pumpkin, and hand pulled noodles were all very fresh and high quality. I personally loved how chewy the noodles were after cooking it!

Our order was 2 servings it felt like a reasonable price. Definitely satisfied with the portion size given that we felt pretty full afterwards.

Service felt very welcoming and friendly.

“I took my fiance here this past weekend and we had a great time. We got to pick which vegetables, meats, tofu we liked, which were all fresh. And then we pick the broth and pay. The Mala Tang in the end was delicious. The broth was very flavorful and aromatic and the meats, vegetables and tofu tasted superb!“

“This is the only place I feel safe ordering in from as someone with food allergies. I have a dairy and gluten allergy and they are so accommodating with the dishes. You get big portions for a good price and the food is always so fresh. I also have a super stomach with some problems so I always feel icky eating out and since the food is cooked in high quality oil I never feel icky after eating here which is SO rare for me. The owner is incredibly kind and told me how she also has food allergies and is happy to make modifications and help. It’s so rare that restaurants welcome modifications and she always does so for me. I’ve never gotten sick here and it’s the one restaurant I feel comfortable ordering in from and look forward to doing so every week. The entire staff is helpful and are always kind and respectful even when the phone is ringing like crazy and there’s a line for pick up. They never rush you and always make you feel welcome. “We got the crab roe over rice and the green peppers with tofu. The crab roe over rice was really good, but pretty pricey. Next time, I'll probably just get the crab roe with tofu. Recommended dishes:
Free-range chicken (a classic of Hunan cuisine, the chicken is delicious when killed alive), sizzling squid (not fishy at all, with the aroma of barbecue), dry-pot beef brisket (not too bad, not chewy, just the right texture), smoked bamboo shoots and beef rice noodles (freshly fried toppings, full of pot flavor, personally ranked first in the Edison rice noodle category)“

“A small takeout Chinese eatery with a fairly standard menu selection bearing high average prices. Hong Kong Express serves americanized Chinese fare. Set in a small strip mall, there seems to be adequate parking. Upon entering, the first impression is clean. Featuring newer furnishings, decor and construction. As a child took my order and payment, this is clearly a family business.
So I've only had one dish at this place. I can say for freshness of ingredients, it's excellent. For amount of meat added, average. Unfortunately my dish was extremely bland. I had to add 7 packets of various sauce and that was still not enough. As I make this dish at home, the main sauce is soy. I wish I had grabbed more.
Speaking of sauce, no sauce, forks, chopsticks or napkins were added or offered. I'm glad I checked and added on my own.
This business succeeds in 2 major ways most other Chinese places don't (freshness and cleanliness). I hope I just caught an off dish. I'd return, but until I had a better dish, I wouldn't recommend.“

“The Chinese restaurant we used for years recently changed owners, and was not to our liking anymore. This was our first time ordering here and we were very pleased. I placed an order online and was it was delivered 20 minutes early. We ordered the kung pao chicken (extra spicy) combo, sesames chicken combo and wonton soup. All were tasty and fresh. “We’ve been ordering from the New Rice Bowl for 10 years and the food is always delicious! It’s always fresh and hot whether you have it delivered or pick it up. No matter how late or early I go the food is always made to order and consistent…never sitting around all day like in some places. I can’t say enough good things about New Rice Bowl!“

“The only negative I have (and it’s a big one and has happened 4-5 times now), I order no onion in my pepper steak and they add a $2 extra meat fee. I didn’t ask for extra meat to compensate for lack of veggies , and I don’t like it added without it being acknowledged or even approved/denied.. really not okay with that decision being made without my knowledge of it and will say something next time..

However when it comes to the food? Do it. Our usual orders are a some kind of mix of chicken&broccoli, pepper steak, boneless ribs, sesame chicken, fried wontons… everything has been great every time.
