“​We visited Avora in downtown Somerville yesterday with a party of five, and there is absolutely nothing negative to say—the food is delicious and the experience was top-tier!

When our initial service was taking a bit of time, I hailed Ilkay to ask a few questions about the menu since we were first-time diners and big meat eaters. Even though she wasn't originally assigned to our table, she stepped right in, gave fantastic suggestions, and seamlessly became our waitress. Avora truly has a gem on their hands with Ilkay!
​Also, it is a BYOB restaurant, which is a huge plus. Even though you bring your own drinks, they take great care of you—they provided wine glasses and ice buckets to keep our spirits cool throughout the meal.
We ordered the ​Chef’s Mezze Tasting: A delicious curated selection of six mezzes that comes with unlimited bread. Ilkay made sure we knew we could have as much warm, fresh bread as we wanted!
​Mixed Grill Plate: We ordered the Mixed Grill for four, which Ilkay smartly advised would be plenty of food for our party of five. It arrived at the table on a smoking grill with an actual flame—a beautiful, impressive display!

“Excellent chopped salad! Iskender with yogurt, Beef Manti and chicken and vegetables! The closest to Turkish food we’ve had in a long time! Will definitely return! Such fresh food!“

“Hard to say something else that the rest of the great reviews here. I went last Saturday with my family (6). Since the beginning we felt welcomed and teh great and friendly service started. The food was superb, on taste, size and presentation. We got some delicious tea and great desserts to close the night. The bill ($180) was totally fair for the amount and quality of the food. For a Saturday afternoon, the place was not busy at all, we share the space with 3 couples and a big family arrive when we left. Absolutely we will return soon!“

“I tried this place for the first time ever a few days ago. The lamb gyro was so good I had to come back today for more, except this time I got the lamb platter with fries. It was phenomenal, so much so I had to go out of my way to leave a review which I rarely do. Everything was packed with flavor and the portion size was great. I will definitely keep going back.“
