“Seafood Birthday Bash!

Went to this restaurant for my uncles birthday. He doesn’t eat chicken or steak so seafood is his favorite. Caldwell Seafood Market & Cafe was an obvious choice because of the pictures and the fact it was a fresh seafood market just stood out to me. It did not disappoint either! We were a group of 10 people and ordered everything our heart desired and spent $579. We ordered 3 orders of fried calamari which was nice and crispy and they even had a ginger sauce which is different. We tried the hot and spicy shrimp which had a great sauce to dip the complementary bread in. We ordered 5 bowls of New England clam chowder. I felt it was watery and not as seasoned as I am used to but we enjoyed it anyway. They forgot a bowl of soup but we won’t hold it against them. We all ordered entrees and most of us got a dessert! We left full and satisfied!

Knowing my family we love to eat and we are all reviewers at heart and are not afraid to say what we do not like. Everyone loved their food from the appetizers to the dessert and we were surprised at how fast the food came and how fresh it was. The waiter was very attentive as well. We didn’t need a reservation when we came in at 3pm and were the only ones there. Surprising it was not packed for a Saturday afternoon but started to fill up as we left.

Overall this restaurant gets a 5/5 because the experience was great, the waiter was very nice and accommodating, the food was piping hot and everyone was pleased even the kids who aren’t really seafood fans.

“We had an exceptional experience. This was our first time dining at Capital Grille, Whippany and it was perfect from start to finish. The food was perfectly cooked. We each got steak and it was cooked exactly as requested. The sides were delicious (creamed spinach & roasted mushrooms), the shrimp cocktail was one of the best I've had. The presentation was beautiful. We were never rushed, the pace of the dinner was relaxing and enjoyable. Our server, Luisa G. was wonderful! She was attentive without hovering, she had the perfect personality for her job, she was personable, friendly, professional and helpful. “ALWAYS delicious - I try to stop here whenever I am in the Cranford area. I’ve been a fan of this Jersey Shore style seafood joint for a couple decades. Fresh, perfectly prepared dishes that always allow the seafood to shine. Fried or broiled flounder and any kind of shrimp are a personal favorite. I always judge a restaurant by it’s side salad and here it’s never an afterthought, fresh and so tasty - they should bottle their house dressing it’s off the chart.“

“If this place a a few tables inside or even outside so you can eat your food fresh, 5 stars overall all day. I ate in my car to avoid the battered fish and fries getting soggy due to the steam being trapped in the containers the food is in. On to the food… since this place is very affordable, I ordered a 3 piece of catfish, 3 piece whiting, 3 piece tilapia and 6 piece wings with fries. Everything came out fresh. No fishy smells or foul taste. Very well seasoned and you can add a little shake of lemon pepper spice mix they have on the counter. Tater sauce is really good also. Not that it needs it, but taking a piece of fish dipping it in hot sauce letting the batter absorb it and then taking it for a swim in tartar before taking that bite of delight that will definitely have you going in for another. Their wings fall right off the bone leaving you with that crispy crunchy coating surrounding juicy chicken meat that also does not need anything else, but dipping that in hot sauce bringing your tastebuds to the next level.

Parking: I went around 1:30 on a Friday so not sure if it is easy to find parking during busy times.“
