“I have been going to Hongs since early childhood, but most recently celebrated my post-wedding lunch there with my and my husband’s extended families. The food and the service have NEVER been anything short of perfection! We especially love the ginger beef, Hong’s chicken, stir fry duck, and Cantonese style egg noodles, but every dish we have tried has been delicious! The wonton soup we recently had was the best I have very tasted. Be sure to order lots of extras, the leftovers are mind blowing!“

“Best Chinese Food I’ve had in a long time. Vegetables were cooked to perfection with just a little snap to them, rice was wonderful, chicken ball with not too much batter and yummy egg roll. So much I have some left over for tomorrow and at an awesome price.“

“We had gone out with friends for a lunch and tried all the different menu items. We thoroughly enjoyed each and every meal, be it the beef pockets, noodles, dumplings but the best one was the fried rice. The flavours are authentic, meal portions are great and the ambience is amazing and the best part is it’s all halal. If you are in downtown, I highly recommend trying this restaurant!“

“We had a great experience at Tasty kitchen which is a cantonese Chinese eatery. Simon is the owner and it was a pleasure speaking with him to understand how he started the eatery. The food is delicious and is priced very reasonably as it caters to students and locals nearby. I am glad we found the place and it is no wonder the reviews are excellent.
We ate there on two consecutive evenings. On the second night we bought some fresh seafood (scallops and fish) and Simon has offered to cook them for us. Now how often do you get these type of personalized service?
I highly recommend this place if you are in the Halifax area. I will definitely return the next time I’m in Halifax.
Thanks Simon!!“

“If you’re missing the lemon chicken, General Gao’s chicken, or chicken chow mein from Long Dragon, Foosing is your best bet. It’s not an exact match but it’s close, very tasty! Vegetables are fresh & crisp, generous portions, reasonably priced, and friendly service.“

“Been going to Canton Garden for over a decade with my family and friends, and have introduced many others to this absolute gem. The best Chinese food in Halifax, by far! I have not had one bad experience in what must be close to 100 visits over the many years. Incredibly friendly staff, phenomenal food, and a perfectly relaxed atmosphere.
Strongly recommend the ginger beef, general tao's chicken, beef and broccoli, and the wanton soup and spring rolls!“

“They were amazing!!!
I came here with my wife for her birthday party, and it exceeded our expectations. We had to reserve our table a day in advance ( which I am glad I did because they got packed not too long after we arrived).
We got ourselves some fresh lobsters, and they were amazing. The other dishes are extremely flavorful and a joy to taste.
In the end, they even surprised my wife, which I greatly appreciated!
They are amazing, and we will definitely visit more often because of their delicious food and hospitality.“
“To the guy in the bottom
I have been ordering at their restaurant for several years now. There has never been a situation like what you said. I remember once their restaurant was full of people, and the wife kept running through the kitchen and the front desk, but she always smiled at us and patiently communicated with us. To be honest, it's impossible for you to spend few bucks to get the quality of a Michelin restaurant.“

“Absolutely loved it! Wasn't crowded when we went. Service was very friendly and fast. Lunch menu was a very good quantity and reasonable price. Very welcoming atmosphere. The chicken fried rice has a nice smokey flavour, the bean sprouts and stir fried vegetables are very delicious. The sweet and sour chicken and ginger beef also very good. The medium chicken soup feeds 4 people. A very good place to share dishes. Overall a very authentic Chinese restaurant that gives a very warm and welcoming vibe and very affordable.“

“Simply delicious food. If we lived closer we eat here more often. Favourites of mine are the Singapore noodles (most places tend to make it very light on the curry, here it's fantastic with a much more bold flavour), Green Dream noodles (has a really tasty green onion sauce) and the Karaage chicken appetizer“

“READ FIRST: If you want stir fried noodles order the Low-mein NOT the Chowmein.
This is not a negative review and I quite enjoyed my meal (which I will get into later) but after reviewing nearly 40 different Chinese restaurants and always getting Chowmein at every single one, this is the first time that Chowmein did not have noodles.
I ordered a vegtable Chowmein with only beansprouts as I did not want other vegetables with my noodles, however, upon getting back to my hotel with my order I realized I had a takeout container full of ONLY BEANSPROUTS. Now the customer service at The Great Wall was excellent as I immediately called the restaurant about my confusion (not having any noodles) and they told me that Chowmein does not have noodles, that is low-mein. They told me if I came back they would give me a plain low-mein (only has beansprouts). I picked up the pain low-mein and (after checking it had noodles) went back to the hotel.
The "low-mein" was delicious with great flavor and portion size. I would recommend the "low-mein" to others looking to enjoy some stir-fried noodles. I also got a vegetable egg roll and that was also tasty. A subtle flavor with a crunchy crust and soft interior.
Overall I really enjoyed my meal, but the whole experience did leave me confused after ordering Chowmein all my life to all of a sudden have it not include noodles? I would recommend this to others but would only recommend the low-mein, not the Chowmein.
I included a photo of the beansprout Chowmein for reference as to the difference between their low-mein and Chowmein options.“
“We went there twice and had a very good impression of Osaka fast food! Fresh ingredients, generous portions, and cheap prices~
We are quite picky, but the meat whistle noodles are really delicious? The fried chicken in the meal is a little spicy and tastes great.
The boss is a husband-and-wife team. The eldest sister and brother are very nice and enthusiastic. They remember that we like spicy food, so they made us more spicy when we came to the store for the second time. It was really heartwarming?“

“I actually really love this place. They have quite a few options on their vegan menu, including a vegan version of their sweet corn soup. Sweet & Sour Tofu, Massaman Curry, etc - and their portion sizes are so big! I come here at least once a trip when I’m in Halifax area. Went again last night and loved it. The servers are always so nice too.“

“Horrible customer service, probably the worst I have ever encountered to be honest. If you enjoy being belittled, being called a liar, and spending 3 hours on a takeout fiasco LOOK no further this is the place for you. Make sure you repeat what you are ordering SEVERAL times. Make sure they repeat it back to you SEVERAL times. If you order something and receive something you did not order, you may get them to agree to bring you what you did order, HOWEVER, you will be called a liar. You will be asked prove they are at fault for the mistake or they will hold your replacement food hostage in your parking lot. You may have to snatch the food you paid for out of the driver's hands. I am not joking. I am speaking from personal experience.“

“This place is awesome. I have been going here since one of the first days they opened. If you haven't tried it you should. Show up hungry, you are going to get a serious bowl of ramen. Truly everything is good you can't go wrong the fried chicken is unreal.“

“Pay NO ATTENTION TO BAD REVIEWS We live in Claton Park and found the ChineseVietnamese food the best we have ordered since moving here from Ontario a few years back. It was a little expensive but more than made up for that in quality. We had the order delivered in a bad rainstorm and a little girl showed up the credit card machine in hand looking like the wind would blow her away My wife and I are pretty old, and we were both impressed with the food We have ordered from quite a few places but Fon Sing is definitely the best“
“Overall pretty good. We got a large bowl between the two of us and it was more than enough. The flavour is much sweeter than ones I’ve had in China or Malaysia. Set aside a lot of time for this: we ordered at 1:24pm and didn’t get our order until 1:55pm (and there was only 1 order in front of ours).“

“When eating at a friend's restaurant, you feel like you are in your own hometown, with familiar tastes, friendly faces, and a variety of authentic delicacies. The large chunks of beef in the beef noodles are enjoyable. The short stew is my mother's specialty, and it is well worth it. Okay, thank you.“

“These restaurant can definitely be considered as the kindest one I’ve ever gone to. I was starving after a tough day of work and I wanted to get some quick food at the mall but all the restaurants were already closing. However, when I went to Manchuwok not only did they attend me but they also did not charge me for it. Thank you very much! You really have no idea how you changed a day that had been totally awful.“

“Ordered their orange chicken combo this afternoon. Must say great taste. The chicken and the orange sauce was just perfect. Great balance of sweetness.Though could be more generous with the sauce on the chicken and overall quantity could be better as compared to other similar Chinese restaurant combos. The container had seperarate compartments for rice and chicken and hence it works better if it is a gravy dish, but when thick sauce like orange chicken is packed, it's hard to mix the get the whole sauce out hence either placing the chicken right over the rice would do be nice.Definitely ordering more often. Good work guys.“

“I've had good egg foo young, but this is by far the best I've ever had. the tempura shrimp was crispy and lightly coated. I enjoy broccoli with beef and this did not disappoint. My only complaint is I live too far away to come back any time soon but will surely miss the owners and the food... I highly recommend!“

“I dropped by Sheng's Chinese Restaurant, and order a suggested combo... I ordered the General Tao chicken combo, got back to the hotel and it was delicious not just good. I am used to over deep-fried chicken, their was lightly deep fried and juicy. It may have been the best chicken I've had, oh yes the fried rice and egg roll were also delicious as well. 5 out out 5!“

“Saturday evening (Feb 18) we randomly decided to stop by Jinloong for supper. We don't eat out much these days, but we were feeling like a treat. :) My husband had a combo Special A. It was a huge portion and delicious. I want to mention that my husband always finishes his plate. However, this meal was not only delicious but filling too. He had enough for in dining and leftovers for a take away lunch on Monday ! I ordered the Singapore Noodles, with no meat or shrimp. Our waiter was so helpful to make a lovely fresh enormous bowl of noodles with extra veggies for me. It was wonderful and I went home with 3 days of leftovers!! YAY!! This was such a great meal for "penny pinches" like us haha I'd like to say our experience at Jinloong was 5 stars, but I wish I could give an extra 5 stars for the lovely, helpful service we received from our waiter. He was a delight!! So kind, helpful and friendly. If you are looking for a Chinese restaurant don't look any further than Jinloong. The homemade sauces are absolutely worth every penny. The portions are fantastic, and the service is GREAT! We'll be back soon. I've included a photo of all our leftovers. I forgot to take a photo of the meal!! and I already ate one dish full of leftovers!! Thanks Jinloong! Cristine and Chris Thorne“
