“Wow, the food! Many places have good food. This was truly delicious. All four of us felt the same.Rustic atmosphere. Smallish place. Friendly service.We started with the out of this world Brussels sprouts and the excellent octopus (great artichokes and potatoes on that plate too). We had the bison/beef meatloaf, the tofu curry, a burger and a veggie burger. All outstanding. The curry was medium spicy. The meat was super delicious.Wish we lived closer. Highly recommended!Vegetarian options: Tofu curry and impossible burger as mains. There are also salads and apps.“
“Great local brewery/ hangout. Had a fun time (and some really good food) with some friends today! I had the pulled chicken Bahn Mi, my wife had the Margharitta Pizza, both were filling and pretty darn good! Our dining companions had a salad with chicken and the beef/ tomato/ and vegetable soup, and a middle-eastern dish with falafel (which were declared the lightest she had ever had!)“
“We went here for dinner last night. We have driven by a few times and finally tried it. I was planning on ordering seafood, but the aroma of steak cooking was too hard to pass up! We had battered shrimp for an appetizer, my husband had half a duck and I had the strip steak. Everything was delicious, food came out quickly, but not too quick. We had time to enjoy our appetizer before our entrees came out. Our server was very friendly and attentive. It definitely seems like a popular restaurant in the area, reservations are recommended. We will try again for sure, but will probably wait until the tourist season is less busy.“
“Very good food and a warming and welcoming atmosphere. The service was also top-notch. Our waiter was excellent. We hope to be back to relax by the fire in the comfy chairs someday, perhaps for a drink and some appetizers. The owners did a great job setting up the restaurant. It had some awesome Adirondack art work and north woods themed decor. It didn't feel crowded and didn't feel empty either. My wife and I look forward to going back.“
“Love their breakfast. AND the cinnamon rolls. So good! Not impressed by the pies. Bought one a couple years ago and the bottom crust was goo. Decided to try again recently and same thing. Goo. So no more pies from there, but definitely breakfast 100%.“
“Absolutely adorable shop with staple and unique food and personal care items. This was a great place to pick up some cute holiday gifts (fancy dish towels, things for making craft cocktails at home, soaps, etc). They also make baked goods in the store. I loved that each item had the simple ingredients listed with it on the name-- this made it easy for needing to ask if you have food allergies, but also terrific to see that the treats are made with basic ingredients like you'd use at home! I tried a snickerdoodle whoopie pie with cream cheese icing inside. The cookies were perfect and the frosting was a bit on the super sweet side but that's how I like my frosting so it was delicious! My mom got a slice of pie- the flavor was pretty good but since it was kept in the fridge, the crust lost a bit of the crunch/flakiness. We bought a take and bake frozen raspberry pie for the next time we have guests over. Mom also got a brownie, which she said was very good as well. The wide selection of pre made salads and sandwiches looked great as well as the large selection of take and bake meals and side dishes. This is my favorite type of a local gem to discover. It's a perfect spot to stop on the way to or from Lake Placid. I actually visited twice in the same day! It's open Friday-Monday (as of when I visited in November'23). I think I'll actually head back to that area next weekend and stop back in to pick up a few gifts and some more baked goods! Update--- We also did end up going back to the shop the following weekend for some more shopping. Customer service could use some improvement. **As I said in my main review, we bought a frozen pie to take and bake. We baked it for Thanksgiving l there was no scent while it baked which was unusual. It wasn't the prettiest looking when it came out of the oven. More unfortunately, no one liked it! My mom said it was the worst she's ever tasted. The crust was so thick and the filling and crust both had a strange aftertaste. This was very disappointing because the treats we had in the store were delicious. If the review was based only on the pie, I'd be a 1/5 stars.“
“This place is what the name says: a store carrying a general pantry and products with a heap of Adirondack charm. I recommend stopping here whether you’re a local on the east-side of Schroon in need of some quick groceries or someone who’s just visiting the area.They have a small dining area and deli bar which I haven’t tried yet. They also carry a selection of Adirondack-style clothing, knick knacks, and furnishings, though those things, as usual, are a little pricey. The owner and her sister were friendly and made the place a delight.“
