“We visited Sofia's tonight with the family to celebrate our birthdays (mine and my two siblings). The food was incredible and the cocktails were great too. The calamari was seasoned just right and crispy. Everyone loved their meals; the table had veal parm, chicken alla Sofia, spaghetti and meatballs, and pasta with pear and gorgonzola. The portion sizes were generous. The restaurant had a lovely ambiance. We each received a complimentary birthday dessert, and they sang to us twice because my brother missed the first time. Despite being overwhelmed with several tables at once, and training a new hire, our server was poised, graceful, and prompt, and was kind enough to offer suggestions for entrees and wine pairings. It was evident that her section was extremely busy, and we were politely notified that the kitchen was short-staffed that Friday evening. But we never would have guessed as the service was outstanding and the food arrived within a reasonable time. “While I expected to have Coal Fired Pizza, it wasn't available. That being said the lasagna was excellent, the meatballs had great flavor and you got 4 of them. The spaghetti carbonara was delicious and the penne ala vodka had a red pepper kick to it.

Over all the food was good. I just had a hankering for the pizza and when I saw it advertised on the window I was super excited... but quickly disappointed.“

After losing the Italian deli in Saratoga that I've patronized for many years to a buyer from Albany that doesn't even answer the phone, I began a search for a true Italian deli. When I walked into La Gioia I knew I had found what I was looking for. The aroma of Italy in the air, the hustle bustle of a staff serving with professional knowledge, courtesy, and a neat and clean appearance so rare today, and shelves and cases filled with all the Mediterranean delicacies imaginable, made me realize the true gem I discovered. This was a wonderful epiphany for me; I smiled all the way home 30 miles away.“

“Stopped in for dinner with my wife and daughter and decided to try the Chicken Parm — my favorite meal but one that often disappoints. Not this time. It was perfect: just the right thickness, crisp breading, smothered in mozzarella, and topped with a sauce that had a great garlic flavor. Easily one of the best I’ve had anywhere. I snagged a bite of my wife’s prime rib and that was excellent too. Service was quick, the staff was friendly, and the bread with garlic oil before the meal was a nice touch. No starter salad, but the generous portions made up for it. If you’re a Chicken Parm fan, this spot is absolutely worth the stop!“

Im writing this review on a Sunday and am ordering pizza somewhere else because my favorite place isn’t open. They close early too. One time I called at 6:30 pm and was told I couldn’t order bc they wanted to close early that evening. So just make sure you order for an early dinner or else you’ll be out of luck. Still the best pizza ever. We usually order their square cut regular pizza. Perfect crust and amount of cheese. Never had another pizza like it.“
