“I hosted the after party for my wedding at Lavender Lake and it did not disapoint. The space was huge and affordable for a semi private area. They even had a DJ there that night who was so much fun. I highly recommend this space if you need to host a party in the area!“

“(Nov 2014) Uber cool high tech mod fitout and no shortage of opinionated beer nerds (complete with obligatory cult brewery t-shirts). Even at 2pm on a Sunday arvo. Doesn’t quite have the warm of a traditional US bar but still pretty friendly. Very international list with a focus on left of centre. Pricing on the high side but reflects the quality of the beers. Served via cabernet glasses - a nice touch. I really grew to like the place and they use a small space well. Can I say it reminds me of Two Row in Melbourne? And....btw....the only other bar I have ever seen where punters are punching out tasting notes!“

“We came here for the $30 three-course Restaurant Week dinner. It was incredible, and an incredible bargain. The food was outstanding and the service was perfect. The only thing we didn't like was the noise level -- it's a large, high-ceilinged space and it was loud. Other than that it was perfect. Oh, the neighborhood (Gowanus) is a bit strange -- if you drive it's all good, but if you'll need to walk to the subway after dinner, it might get a bit dicey.“

“When you first walk in to HP, you assume its a chill laid back place thats prob gonna serve ok food and drink- you know a comfortable place where you can just chill. It's a chill laid back place for sure but soooooo much more. Drinks and food was excellent, done really well. The bartender knows his stuff! best drink I have had in a while! “Golden Years is a solid place to get together and have a simple drink or bite to eat. More a cozy bar vibe, this establishment has some fun outdoor seating under a large tree as well as a nice cozy inside for both hot and cold weather days.
I've come here on rainy days, sitting in front while hanging with friends and sipping beers, as well as into the night on a warm night and hung out in the backyard with small and large groups both on the concrete and the upper deck seating areas.
Outdoors has a few places to keep out of the rain but worst case, inside has plenty of places to sit at both the bar as well as tables including some near the front windows to view the city street.
Credit cards are accepted and they hold onto it while you have a tab open.“
