“I couldn't decide what I was hungry for when I entered the store. I walked around then left. A lovely person came out to see what was up. I told her & we walked back into the store. I roamed around again & finally ordered a BLT. One of the BEST ever. Was it about making a sale? Sure, it's a business, but a business with heart. We have so appreciated their return to Claverack & especially love the pastries. The eggplant parmigiana is also really good. But that BLT?! ?”

“One of Hudson‘s hidden gems and when I say hidden, I mean it it’s around the corner from the Google location, but it’s worth the hunt. Expect lines and expect the best pastries,. You won’t be disappointed.”

“We first heard about Via Cassia while visiting Tuscany, and knowing we lived just an hour and an half away from a restaurant that we heard about from across the Atlantic, we had to come visit. We couldn’t have had a better experience! When the owners heard how we found them, they both made sure to come meet us. They were so kind and welcoming and took very good care of us! The food was absolutely incredible, and we got to enjoy the same wine we had while visiting Tuscany. Truly a 10/10 experience and we will absolutely be coming back.”

“We were out and about in Hudson today and we were a little hungry so we stopped into kitties and I had probably one of the best egg sandwiches I ever had. I highly recommend the egg sandwich with sauerkraut. The vibe in there was very comfortable iced coffee Was nice and strong. They had a great bakery selection and a lot of local products. So if you’re coming out of the train station in Hudson, I say swing by kitties you won’t be sorry.”

“Great food, and the service was good. But please…slow it down a bit! We asked for 3 courses, and they brought out the first two together, and the entrees a bit after. We were in and out of there in 1 hour, which is way too fast for a Saturday night out.”

“I was just traveling through the area and had the good fortune to give this cafe a try for breakfast and I have to say it was perfect,every part of my meal was delicious. I have rarely been so satisfied with the freshness and preparation of a meal but these folks are putting in the care and work to do things right, my waffles were stellar definitely not made with pancake mix like so many mediocre restaurants do everything was well seasoned and nicely presented by an attentive staff.I garuantee you anytime I am any where near Chatham I will be dining here(I live in Maine but visit friends and relatives in the Albany area)!”

“For the sake of full disclosure I’ve worked with the owners for over twenty years in the television industry. They have brought the same dedication and amazing attention to detail that has resulted in their tremendously successful careers, to their wonderful new restaurant. They have thought of EVERY detail from the whimsical videos playing in the rest rooms to the sugar cubes for your espresso... they have missed nothing. The menu is inventive and perfectly executed... Watermelon Gazpacho?! Whoa! The unique presentation of the Calamari appetizer was wonderful. Bouillabaisse?! You don’t find that as the seafood option very often... what a treat. Others in my group enjoyed perfectly cooked steaks and the slightly smoky Mac & Cheese. Of course the cheese plates are spectacular. This is one of those meals you won’t forget! But wait did I mention the speakeasy downstairs? The perfectly appointed room features an amazing menu of craft cocktails AND six draft beers to choose from... including Ommegang Rare Vos... you simply don’t find that on tap anywhere!! Finally a word about the service. It was impeccable, perfectly attentive without being stuffy. Chris and Ellen have created a destination restaurant!”

“My husband and I had our 90-guest wedding at the Vanderbilt on 6/8/24 and it could not have been any better. We found the Vanderbilt on Airbnb when looking for a unique wedding venue, visited it in January of 2023, and booked it instantly- didn’t even see another venue. As stated in previous reviews, Henrietta made the planning process as easy as possible. We communicated mainly via email, but she allowed us to come to the space as often as we needed (I think between both of our families we were there 3 times). She also provided a list of vendors that previous wedding parties had used at the Vanderbilt, which I used for our planner, tent company, shuttle company and photographer (all great). When it came time for the tasting, we were provided with an extensive menu of food and drinks curated by Matt. We were blown away by the food. As the wedding day approached, Henrietta was easy to communicate with and flexible. She helped us plan a thorough rainy day plan B, and was the bearer of good news when she called me 2 days prior to tell me the weather looked good and we were going with plan A. The weekend of the wedding was incredible. Our families stayed in the 8 rooms upstairs Friday and Saturday night. Henrietta and Matt were in early on Saturday to get everything prepared. Their team was incredible. After the ceremony, Henrietta greeted us with champagne and a congratulations. When cocktail hour ended and we realized we were so busy that we didn’t even eat our appetizers, Henrietta put together a plate for us and brought it over. I’ve heard from a number of guests that the food was the best they’ve had at a wedding, and I agree. It’s important to note that the staff was also FUN to have around. Bartenders and servers interacted with guests and kept the energy light and fun. The next morning, Matt prepared a great breakfast (much needed) for those staying at the Vanderbilt, even including some leftovers of our banana pudding dessert from the night before. Now let’s quickly talk about the space. The Vanderbilt Lakeside is the most unique space I’ve ever seen. Each room has its own personality and is decorated meticulously and beautifully. I only had to bring in decorations for the tables, as the venue itself was already perfect. The deck was a perfect fit for our 90-person dinner. The lawn, outdoor bar, and lawn games were a hit for those who wanted to chill out rather than dance. The Bar room was the perfect size for our musicians and a dance floor. The rooms upstairs are clean, all about the same size, and all have their own bathrooms to make for a comfortable stay. Overall, I cannot recommend the Vanderbilt enough. We’re racking our brains for an excuse to host another event there. Henrietta and Matt are incredible to work with!”

“The Juice Branch has amazing smoothies, bowls and sandwiches. Everyone in our family loves eating there including our kids (who are 1 and 4). George who runs the place is one of the friendliest people you will ever meet and gives the place a great welcoming vibe. The smoothie menu has dozens of options but our favorites are the Showtime and the Downtown Stroll. I also recommend whatever wrap they are currently offering with oyster mushrooms.”

Looking for art, classy curation, culture, real coffee, a workspace for creators and makers, and a smile to greet you ... CITIOT is all that and more.”

“Just edging out Pizzeria Posto, Night School has the best New York slice I have found in the Hudson Valley. Great atmosphere, excellent drink menu, it's the kind of place you want to hangout with your friends. The pepperoni was plentiful and perfectly cupped. The undercarriage crispy with just the right flop. And the crust was tasty but not surgery. Posto might have a slightly better technique. But Night School's charm and the size of their pies make them a destination. If you're near Catskill, Cairo, Saugerties, or Hudson it's worth making the trek.”

“Upper Depot hosted an informal get together for graduates of Claverack Elementary School this past Friday. The food, drinks, and staff were all awesome.
