“I do not pretend to understand the culture, the history, or the ancient wisdom behind this food. I only know this. I ordered it hungry and emerged changed. The General Tso’s hit like a warm hug from a very confident aunt who does not ask questions. The rice showed up doing exactly what rice should do and doing it with pride. “Compared to all the other Chinese around Latham that are not great at all golden house was the best BY far we ever had ! I am glad we stumbled upon them ! Everything was flavorful the crab ragoon was actually stuffed with more than a 1/2 teaspoon of filling ! The sesame chicken was not overcooked and the Mongolian beef was very flavorful , yes a lot of onions but I like it that way ! For the price it for sure was amazing rather than spending 100 on yangs( love their sushi) or anywhere around for mid/ overcooked no flavor . I would order again for sure ! And the house “cow mein” delish! The delivery driver so nice and fast !“

“This restaurant seems to be run by the next generation rather than the old school Asian restaurants. The staff is very upbeat and the food is delicious, not greasy like so many other restaurants. “We just moved to the area and have tried many different Asian cuisines. Tai pan was the best priced and the quality of the sesame chicken outshined all the other restaurants near by. The mei fun was super good too. The crab wontons were super fresh and not heavy in fried wrapper. The balance was perfect. One complaint was not enough white rice but that’s an easy fix for next time and didn’t take away from the experience. My husband got the red curry with no to lite spice and they made it just right. We did take away and plan for this to be our go to spot going forward.

PS - make it so you can order springs rolls on your website :) I only see it as an add on in the combos“

“I only order from East Wok. The best food around. Everything is fresh and delicious! Pictured is the lunch shrimp in lobster sauce & pork fried rice. I ordered the large container of wonton/ egg drop soup on the side. The lunch portions are large also!“

“The food is very amazing, portions are large, the price is fair. They have a lot of options and you can choose what you want in your order even if it’s not on display in front of the restaurant. For example you can ask for dumplings, shrimp broccoli, beef broccoli, chicken vegetable, and sweet and sour chicken. Cheese wonton and lots more. Waiting about 8-10 minutes. They make fresh for you. 👍“

“I ordered chicken lo mein, crab Rangoon while my friend had the beef and broccoli with white rice. OMG the crab Rangoon was nice and crunchy and not too thick like other restaurants. The Lo mein was hot hot and so delicious. lol I wasn’t able to take a picture of the beef and broccoli as everything was gone so fast(they inhaled it). Very delicious, I was super surprised at how fast the food came and how well packaged it was. They give you this cute little insulated bag and the silverware was also packaged separately and the packed it so well. “Fast delivery, especially for a Saturday. Lunch specials are generous. To the people who say the tariffs made their price to high, new no 1 has lower prices than many others in the area.
The fried rice was great in my lunchtime order, definitely not dry.
I won't name names, but I see reviews that have 1 star on atmosphere, appeared to have been delivery. Maybe you meant your own space (where you consumed the food) has a terrible atmosphere?

I also won't name my regular Chinese restaurant's name either, it is safe to say that I now have switched to new. No 1

“The owners are hardworking, nice & understanding. It's a family run business. One time, I temporarily misplaced my wallet (down the chute in between the door and car seat) and they still let me have my food order with the promise of paying the next day. Food is great; a variety of veggies like zucchini for vegetarians. It's flavorful, sauses aren't overly corn starched. It may look a little rough around the edges, the plaza is past it's prime, but out of the other options in Watervliet, Colonie, Troy, Latham. This and New Panda in Latham are my go-tos“

Parking: There is always parking in this lot as there are other businesses next door that also have spots available. The entire lot is usually only about 30% full.“

“I just moved to Troy and I’m still figuring out what’s what in terms of which parts of Troy to avoid. First of all I ordered a small beef and broccoli tonight and it tasted good. No complaints on the food. Also I have been trying out numerous Asian restaurants in the Capital Region and so far this one is one of the most affordable especially if you are a student because there’s a 10% discount w/ college I.D. Personally I just don’t like this extreme angle of the up hill drive here and when I pulled in some shady looking pan handler was asking me for money. Walking into the restaurant the first thing I noticed is it’s not really a very welcoming feel because there’s bulletproof glass and no where to sit and eat. This might just be best for delivery only.“

“This place is good as hell and people are simply ordering the wrong dishes- the lunch special spareribs are less than $12, the pork fried rice is solid, and the crab rangoons are some of the best in the area.

The incompetency of delivery apps and waiting two hours for “ice cold food” is entirely your own fault, as I have both eaten in and taken out and had no issues with food poisoning or the temperature of the food.
