“Calling this place “no frills” of pretty on-target, my dinner date walked over to the fridge to grab beverages that we ordered and never came. The tv, which still has it's “energy guide” sticker was playing a mix of YouTube music videos and commercials which seemed perfect for the adolescent guests who outnumbered the adults when we arrived just after 7 on Sunday night.
But that's not why we're here! Momo's and Liang Fen, authentic Nepali style, and a side of gyuma, traditional blood sausage with rice flour.
The Liang Fen are cold wide noodles wrapped around a filling that seems to be tofu. The “dry” version isn't in a broth, but it's hardly dry, it has a super yummy chili sauce that's just the right spicy, and the texture is a little chewy, but not tough. Very good
The blood sausage has the same grainy texture of British blood sausage, but the addition of toasted rice flour gives it a more pillowy texture. Also served in a light sauce with dried red chilies, it lit me up in the most pleasant way.
Then Momos with jhol sauce, fragrant of sesame, garlic, ginger and more chilies, spicy but not too much.
It's probably great as takeaway, but the pageant if interesting locals in and out, and Sabrina Carpenter and Taylor Swift with commercials for streaming services made for an unforgettable meal.“

“Best Jhol Momo and Mustang Aloo — a must-try! The Chicken Tikka Masala with garlic naan is chef’s kiss. Unreal. I never get pics because I dive in the moment it hits the table. My weekly go-to!“

“Great to have some solid momos in the area!
Came on a Saturday night and we sat down right away. The servers were very friendly and took the time to explain each part of the Thali we got.
Food:
- veg thali (4/5) - this is definitely a good bang for your buck, given that you can ask for refills. My favorite was the pea dish.
- veg jhol mojos (4.5/5) - nice deep flavor, the momos were solid. I’d be curious to try the chili ones and the fried ones next time.
- mango lassi (5/5) - everything you want mango lassi to be.
The vibe was pretty causal and they have a few tables for sit down“

“We are so excited that this amazing Tibetan restaurant reopened in a new location after the original location burned down in February 2021. The support of the community helped make it possible for them to continue serving delicious food in Jackson Heights. It’s as good as we remember, and the staff members are so kind. Please support our favorite Tibetan restaurant if you have the chance. You won’t regret it! 🥰“

“Just come here.
You know you've never had Bhutanese food before. You know you don't even know where Bhutan is. So stop pretending to consider, get on that 7 train, and come here. The trek only seems daunting because you don't know how hard actual Bhutan is to get to (seriously, look it up...it's mission impossible).
Get everything. If you can't, get these:
- Ema Datsi: The national dish of Bhutan. Crunchy peppers breaded in cheese. How can you not?
- Cheese Momo: Dumplings got a glow up, and now they come with dairy. Yes, please.
- Sikam Paa: If you like thinly sliced pork belly and daikon soaked in delicious chili sauces, you've found your dish here.
- Shakam Shukam Datsi: Like eating chunky beef jerky stir-fried in the best white chili sauce ever. What's white chili, precious? Come here and find out.
- Goep Paa: I assume that if you've come this far for this cuisine, beef tripe is not going to daunt you. Good. You've leveled up to this dish and can enjoy the most kiu kiu (chewy-tender) tripe this side of dim sum.
- Jangbuli: Maybe the one miss, for me. Stir-fried hand-pulled noodles in various seasonings. Great texture, not enough flavor. Bland, compared to its companions.
Oh yeah, they serve butter tea here--so if you've ever wondered what yak milk tastes like hot (it keeps me up most nights), you can enjoy a cup here for $3.
Small indoor seating, but now that it's warm times, they have several tables outside for parties of 2-4 that can be rearranged for bigger groups.“

Laphing was spicy and acidic, favorite of the evening. Thenthuk was warming and comfort in a bowl! Momo sauce really made the dish!!“

“This was our 2nd time visiting Om Wok, this visit to again sample their momo during the 2025 annual momo crawl. These momo are larger than most, with a moist filling with a bit of savory broth which can almost be compared to a soup dumpling.
Delicious!
The staff and owner are kind, hard working and passionate about their momo and other dishes.
A small, intimate place.
We would not hesitate to return to have more momo and sample other dishes.
Congratulations to Om Wok for being the champions in the 2025 momo crawl!!“

“I recently had the pleasure of dining at Taste of Himalaya, and it was nothing short of an extraordinary experience. The moment I walked in, I was greeted with the warm, inviting aromas of authentic Himalayan spices, instantly transporting me back to the flavors of home.
The food was absolutely amazing, bursting with rich and complex flavors that perfectly balanced warmth and spice. The beef sukuti was a standout dish—perfectly seasoned, tender, and rich in flavor. It had that distinct smoky essence that brought back memories of traditional meals prepared with care and authenticity. The tingmo, a soft and fluffy steamed bread, was an ideal complement, perfect for soaking up the rich and savory flavors of the sukuti. The momo (dumplings) were also tender and flavorful, rounding out an exceptional meal.
What truly set this experience apart was how every bite evoked memories of home—family gatherings, celebrations, and the comforting sense of belonging. It’s rare to find a place that not only serves incredible food but also stirs the heart with a sense of nostalgia.
Taste of Himalaya is more than just a restaurant; it’s a culinary journey back home. I highly recommend it to anyone who wants to experience the true flavors of the Himalayas.“

“I’ve been walking by Pranam for quite some time and finally decided to come in - I can’t express how much I’m wishing I visited earlier! I’m blown away by the quality of the food and attentive service. The Momo were incredibly tender and perfectly seasoned and the entrees from varying places in Asia impressed me. Special shout out to the imported beers as well - I got the Nepal Ice beer and am now looking where to source it for myself. Truly a hidden neighborhood staple -
I encourage everyone to check this place out. You won’t be disappointed. Promise.“

“Great little spot for a mid-week dinner, especially if you like momos. It is tiny with only three tables but I didn’t have any problems. The service was super friendly and the food was excellent! I started with the wai wai sodheko, a dish I’ve not had before and it was so good. Like a crunchy instant noodle salad with lots of spices. And then the chef chili momos - also really good. And everything was really inexpensive. I’ll be back!“

“Hands down the best Nepalese food I’ve ever had. Chicken momos were layered w flavor inside and had thin and flaky wrapping fried crisp, thalis were stacked w so many seriously delicious components. Fish curry was tender, fresh, and complex. Plain lassi was the perfect compliment to it all. The service was outstanding, extremely attentive and helpful. Will absolutely be returning!“

“I usually don't review places that I love this much for fear that it will become overcrowded in time. But I also don't want this place to ever go out of business. Well, not the best Tibetan restaurant I've been to, it is very good, especially for the cost. A great addition to the neighborhood. The portions are adequate enough to leave satisfied, but if you're extremely hungry, you'll want some appetizers. Parking in the neighborhood is okay and it's literally next to the Q train. A true find and a hole in the wall that you'll walk by a few times before you realize it's there. Seating is limited and not recommended for large parties.
The servers are pleasant, but they should warn typical Americans expectations that the appetizers don't always come before the meal due to the cooking time.
Last I ordered The Mango Chicken, which was excellent and the vegan momos which weren't as flavorful as I would have hoped. The chili dishes are excellent.
Vegetarian options: There are plenty to choose from for vegetarians and vegans.
Parking: Street parking is adequate.“

“It's good, but, since I am a Nepali and have tried their food back home, I'd say it's not the same as it was back home. But, then again, ingredients change the taste, so, I would say this place is worth trying and you never know you might love the food. :)“

“Delicious Tibetan food right by the 74 street Jackson Heights train station. They have a breakfast menu that goes until 12 pm, and a lunch menu after that.
Prices are very reasonable, service is good, and the ambiance is cozy and cute. The menu has enough variety that it's worth coming back multiple times to try more stuff.
I got the Lhasa Beef Noodles, which were light and delicious. They can be flavored with some of the chili oil sauce on the table, which I will warn is no joke. Overall delicious food
I think the only thing I would have liked differently was for the menu to have some descriptions underneath the names of the food, just because there's so much variety that it can be tricky to know what to pick without searching up what something is. But that's a good problem to have.
Looking forward to coming back again.“

“We always come and get whole bag of Selroti when we visit NY. No other place makes sel like them. And if you have not had or know what Sel is it’s regarded as Nepali Dougnut but personally it’s something completely different. Chia and Sel combo is the best and this is the place to get.“

“Slow service because it's always busy!! Must try all their momo. Jhol Momo was my favorite, both chicken and goat. Perfect blend of spiced soup with the savory deliciousness of the momo. Think of it as a spicy soup dumpling. Their veg thupa was warm and delicious for a cold winter night, would recommend getting it with egg.
Fried rice and noodles weren't great - wouldn't recommend.
All their Thali's looked amazing as well!“

“I visited the Potala Fresh Food truck. These are my favorite momo in the city! The momo are so fresh and juicy you have to lean over the container or plate when you eat them, it’s that juicy! I typically get the beef but they have chicken and other varieties as well. I love that you can also order them frozen if you need a large amount for a home event.“

“Was in a job interview and early enough that I could grab lunch here. I just got back from Nepal & was craving momos.
Place is really spacious and at 2PM was empty - just one other table. Service was friendly - but the kitchen took longer than expected. Still - hands down - the best momo I’ve had in a very long time.
I’ll defo be back again! 😋“
