“I gave it 4 only cause it was a bit pricey for no meat. I had the callalo, rice and peas with plantains. Mustvsay I was very pleased with the taste and the presentation. The lady who served me was also very nice. I quess i would go back when I'm high on funds. I ate all of it..very good and fulling...“
“Johnny's is a must for those looking to try some delicious Jamaican food in the Far Rockaway area of NYC. I stopped here to order some food for an event my friend was having. The meat choices especially the j*** chicken and salmon were delicious. I would recommend this place for those looking far and wide for good Jamaican food in NYC. Especially in this part of town. Close to the subway and hotels. Also very helpful people.“
“I called the restaurant today on my daughter’s birthday (2/26/24) to ask for a table for 5 people including two children. I was told there’s not enough seating for everyone but they would gladly accommodate us at the event space next door. I agreed. My family arrived at around 6 and the two ladies took our order and Yvonne took a few minutes to prepare the table for us. When she led us into the room we were so delighted and astounded! The place was so beautifully decorated, and she managed it in a very short time! All the food was delicious! She made my daughter feel so special, she danced with the girls and helped cut the cake! I was very lucky and blessed to have been given this wonderful memory! It was such a pleasure to meet Yvonne, she is so sweet and has such a good heart! I will definitely be back again soon!Dietary restrictions: Totally Vegan and plant based menu.Kid-friendliness: Yvonne was so sweet with my girls.“
“If you are looking for amazing Jamaican food AND outstanding customer service, look no further! The owner only sells quality food and it is a family owned business. Amoya (hope I spelled it right) is mostly there serving the food whenever I go and she is an absolute pleasure to interact with. I can honestly say they serve their food with LOVE and GRACE. Money spent here is money well spent.“
“The place is nice and the food is pretty good. The issue remains the same, the restaurant space is compact. Perhaps better in the summer time if there is outdoor space to help with seating etc. Overall, I had a great time, the music was lively and the energy of the staff and DJ was refreshing. I didn't like the fact that you don't get an actual receipt while dining at the tables (you do get one at the bar). So it's difficult to analyze what you're being charged. The fact that gratuity was included was not disclosed so you could tip twice if that wasn't your intention.“
“This place had some of the best jerk chicken I ever had in my life. I've gone back 3x times in the past month and they are not there anymore. Does anyone have an updated location for this jerk pit?Because now I'm sad...sad spelled backwards is das and das not good :/“
“I’m from VA and I was at my brothers home for Thanksgiving in Jamaica Queens. The day of me leaving to go back home I wanted some authentic Jamaican food. Here it was!! The food is amazing, service is great. It’s very clean. I got the Oxtail with rice and all I can say WOW!! While I was there I asked the staff member ackee and of course she had it with fried dumplings. That was amazing ?! This will be ato go place for me every time I visit my brother. Thank you for your great hospitality. God bless you.“
“The trick with this place is you have to catch them around lunch time when that jerk chicken comes right off the grill and ask for the extra sauces on the side to take this experience to the ultimate level yummy! Also just a heads up they make great soups as well I've tried the chicken soup and others as well great on a cold day to help warm you up on the insides! Last but not least the jerk pork is where it's at as a nice side to your Oder to add a little more flavor and variety to your dish enjoy!“
“Food is always good here.At times there's a wait but it's because the cashier shares food and if she's sharing no one else can cash you out.Well that was then. I just ordered veggie chunks and the entire thing was awful. Too salty and no flavor. Miss G's can do better. No fork either. I normally love ordering from here.“
“Stopped in here 2 days in a row. I'm a contractor doing a job in the area. Day one I had curry goat and rice and peas it was absolutely phenomenal. Day 2 I had j*** chicken with rice and peas and it was delicious. I will definitely go out of my way to get food from here it's delicious and authentic.“
“They did not have what I order but called and still fulfilled our order. I wish I took a picture of the food! Ordered the boneless jerk chicken, oxtail, rice&peas & Mac and it was delicious. Got sweet sauce and oxtail sauce on the rice. Tropical juices good too. Will order again!“
“This is a business we have been patronizing for years as born West Indian restaurant. Finding a authentic West Indian restaurant is difficult over the last few years. The price has increased over the years but the cuisine is constant and delicious. We love the whole fish, soup, the rice and peas, rainbow cake, if you’re in the mood for a cocktail the bartenders are very excellent. Historically we would have the jerk chicken pork but we no longer eat chicken or pork but if you are in love her of that chicken and pork is delicious. If you’re in Jamaica Queens, are you just in the mood for some of them to Jamaican food the door is the best spot for brown stew fish, excovitch fish.“
“The food at this restaurant is authentically Jamaican. I had a boat ride last year in Freeport, Long Island. The owner/chef not only delivered the food to my boatride but also helped to set up. This is by far some of the best customer service I've ever experienced. My guests raved about the food all night. This review is long overdue and I just realized that I hadn't written one. Better late than never I suppose! ?“
“I actually stumbled upon this restaurant on Uber Eats after the other Jamaican restaurant canceled on me. I decided to give Jah Leng a try. First of all it came in less than 30 mins. I ordered the oxtail, it was so delicious I am sorry I did not order the large. It was soft and it was not salty or fatty. I love that the salad was in a separate little bowl. I have to find the restaurant and have a sit down meal. Very pleased!! 10 out 10 for me!!“
“Country life jerk is definitely a hidden gem. The food is authentic and delicious. To date i've only tried the jerk chicken, mac n cheese and soup and none of them disappoint. The mac n cheese is made with cheddar and is cheesy!! The jerk chicken is seasoned well, tender and portions are always good, even for the small sizes. In addition, they follow special instructions and the service is friendly ...top notch!!“
“This is definitely a good jamaican restaurant. You can get a whole meal for $7.00 oxtails rice and peas with plantains ,not bad.and the wait isn't long at all. Not to mention the young lady that works there customer service was pleasant.don't for get there pineapple sodas, jamaican style.“
“Ordered from this place over the weekend, and I wasn't really impressed to be honest. I originally ordered oxtail with Rasta pasta and homemade ginger beer only to get a call 2 minutes later telling they didn't have Rasta pasta OR the homemade ginger beer. I had to get Mac and cheese instead. I won't lie they DEFINITELY made up for it because they gave me TWO drinks and a large oxtail instead of the medium I originally asked for. The food wasn't bad, the mac and cheese was oily...it wasn't anything I'd jump and holler for....but the customer service was good. They also packaged the food VERY well making sure none of it spilled which I also appreciated!“
“The food is really Jamaican! Full of flavor, spicy, tasteful! It has a grandmother cooking kinda vibes to it which makes you appreciate the authenticity of the food and setting. It's definitely not commercialize but rather unique in feel“
“this is easily the best jerk chicken plate in rockaway, and it’s not even close. i ordered 5 jerk chicken dinners plus some sides, and the very helpful young man working hooked me up with great service, which is RARE in far rockaway. my whole order was ready in a couple of minutes, and mind you, he was getting fresh chicken right off the grill and chopping it up. the macaroni and cheese was perfect, not too cheesy and nicely seasoned, the rice and peas were cooked on point. honestly, just go get the food, you won’t regret it. hell, i’m about to go get lunch from there ? very good food that’s worth your money is gonna do it every single time!“
