“Very good food at Popei's starting with their garlic+ bread. I had the lobster and shrimp stuffed penne in vodka sauce - hearty, tender, perfectly cooked seafood without that rubbery feeling in a fantastically creamy sauce. I sliced my stuffed penne into diagonal strips and every bite was amazing. Others had the crab leg and steak special; crab wasn't as good as my shrimp and lobster being a little over-boiled perhaps but the skirt steak had great flavor and chew. Most entrées hovered around $30. Would absolutely return.Note they have valet parking due to its popularity and limited parking space - so bring some small bills.“

“Saturday evening dinner without a reservation. Walking in, my eyes immediately gravitated to the pictures of the owners and the many celebrities that have eaten and visited there before. The bar area is very nice and large, with TVs playing sports and news. We were greeted, welcomed and seated immediately. The dining area is very large and decorous. The tables large enough to sit us all. My cousin-in-law and his family frequent the restaurant and he practically knows everyone there, so as we sat, we were introduced to the owners and pretty much about a half dozen waiters and other staff members. All were extremely friendly and welcoming. As expected with all family style restaurants, the tables are very close to one another but positioned in a way that still allowed for ample space for you to move and sit comfortably. When we sat, there were hardly any people there, but within an hour it was full of patrons and large families. It was loud, but manageable. The food was unbelievably delicious. I haven't had true traditional family style Italian food in a long time. From the Fried Calamari and cold antipasto appetizers, to our Veal Parmigiana, Penne allá Vodka with Shrimp and prosciutto entrees. Paired with a Cabernet Sauvignon Palermo Napa, I truly enjoyed my meal. I haven't enjoyed food this good in a long time. My girls shared a huge plate of Chicken fingers and fries, and they loved it. The parking here can be a little tough but there is a municipal parking lot about 3 short blocks away and you can also take public transportation there, it is about a block away from the Bayside Long Island Railroad station. Try their steak its my favorite, but I also recommend the octopus, and their fish is always fresh and delicious, but you really can't go wrong with anything you get here. This place is always super clean, the service is always great and they pour a great drink. Now, this is an edited review from my original because i just had to mention Arif, who is the general manager. When you meet Arif you will understand why this place is so great. We entered the building which took us into the bar, which was bustling. The dining room was quaint, with some really nice booths and a fireplace that should have been lit. Our server was a good looking young man, pleasant, not overbearing with a sense of humor. We opted to include an additional appetizer of baked clams to our meal, along with the crab cake and winter salad, which I forgot to take photos of. My friend opted for the lamb chops while I had the branzino piccata. Yummy, although the menu never stated that the fish was served over a shrimp risotto. (I'm allergic to shrimp). Only 1 bone in the fish, so I was lucky. Our dessert consisted of tiramisu and rainbow cookie cheesecake. I was "fortunate" to get the last piece although not very cheesecake-y. All in all we had a nice dinner and will maybe return for another meal.“

Forgetting a lot of ingredients and when I asked for a little salmon with my spicy tuna, she literally put one piece of it. I always pay extra for the salmon add on but she didn't let me explain. I'm sorry but I don't know if I can keep going somewhere and constantly telling them what to put on when she keeps looking back at the menu and still forgets. Before her, I had no problem at all! “Ordered from this place for the 1st time and eventhough i only live about 10 minutes away it took the uber driver 23 minutes to get the order to me..... even with that being said, the food came hot and it was delicious. The only thing i wish is that they would supply the utensils needed to crack open the crabs but if you have some industrial scissors and a good hammer and forks you can make it work. I would absolutely recommend this place even for ordering if you live near by it is worth it. next time i want a seafood boil i will go to this location in person to be able to experience the restaurant itself, the staff, and the service.“
