“From the moment we walked in, the experience was excellent. We were seated within a minute and greeted immediately by a friendly, attentive server who offered to walk us through the specials and made sure we had everything we needed.

Service was impressively well paced—our appetizers arrived within minutes, and our main courses followed shortly after we finished them. It was clear the staff was attentive and communicating well with the kitchen.

The food was outstanding. My steelhead trout over couscous was cooked perfectly, and my wife’s New York strip steak was equally excellent. The homemade biscuits are a must—slightly sweet and completely unique.

We finished with a fun dessert: a root beer float for me and a great after-dinner drink for my wife. The relaxed atmosphere made it easy to enjoy our meal, and the live piano and bass playing jazz added a wonderful touch.

The bill was very reasonable, and we left completely satisfied.

“I moved out of town to Duchess County and I drove down to Mohegan Lake just to go to the Applebee’s. The kitchen manager Will was amazing. He helped with my grandchildren’s specific dietary needs. Our server Anna was so knowledgeable and helpful also. I lived in Cortlandt manor for 25 years and loved going there.“

Parking and restrooms were very good. Neighborhood was a little sketchy saw homeless people looking for cans and asking for change in the parking lot. Overall was good and average place.“

Authentic Revolutionary War Era Inn setting with phenomenal dinner menu for Thanksgiving. 4 of us came here for Thanksgiving- my wife, me and her parents, we all got something different and this place did not disappoint on anything. The chateubriand filet mignon and New Zealand rack of lamb were on point in every way. The side vegetables- the sweet potatoes, the stuffing, the arugula, the green beans, and the carrots were all perfectly cooked to an optimome composition and coloring. The popovers were a nice throwback a little dry but the strawberry butter more than made up for them. The dessert the Belgian chocolate mousse was impeccable. The overall ambiance and atmosphere of this place was very Yankee in a great way, it reminded me of Olde New England Inns and Taverns. Pricing wise it was not the most economical menu but doing Thanksgiving at home with guests wouldn’t have been cheaper. I definitely recommend anyone slightly interested in a place like this come here as they will fully enjoy. We did not reside here but if their hotel accommodations are on par with their dining accommodations, you will get what you pay for and then some.“

From the very beginning, Chris, the owner, was an absolute pleasure to work with. Since The Beacon Daily typically does not offer direct delivery for a la carte orders, I explained that this lunch was part of a very important three day celebration and that everything needed to be handled with extra care. Without hesitation, Chris personally stepped in, took ownership of the order, and even delivered it himself all the way to Glynwood's Perkins House. His attention to detail, responsiveness, and willingness to accommodate our requests were truly remarkable. He thoughtfully provided compostable plates, napkins, and flatware and made sure every aspect of the order was handled flawlessly. The food is a classic American Diner but the food, Atmosphere and staff make you feel like your home. Some diners almost rush you out. Here they let you enjoy your food. “While I love the restaurant, and look forward to having dinner here at least once a month, I have just one complaint: after-dinner coffee is served without a saucer. Just a cup on the tablecloth. There's something so incomplete about this that it's jarring; once you've stirred the coffee, where to rest the spoon? It can only go straight onto the white tablecloth, leaving a brown stain. So, why on earth put the coffee -- and if it's cappucino, it's a $10.00 cuppa! -- directly onto the tablecloth without the saucer? I know they have saucers, because they serve afternoon tea. I have taken to bringing my own saucer. If this seems petty, order the coffee after your Bear Mountain Inn dinner and try it yourself (avoid the cappucino).

Otherwise, this is a lovely restaurant with gorgeous views across the river to Anthony's Nose, the trains hurrying along the shoreline, the lawn. Dinner -- especially the half chicken -- is usually perfection. Just get a saucer under that coffee cup!“
