I left a lower than usual review because it was happening more than once as I am a regular customer. Immediately they were on it. I usually get the roast beef sandwich. It is the most delicious, tender, expertly seasoned roast beef I have ever encountered. It is a bright, bloody red. There is a relatively rustic area with sturdy wooden tables and chairs where you can eat your sandwich there on the premises if you don't feel like taking your food on the road. You can't find too many places like this anymore and it's a shame. I can almost guarantee that you will be hard pressed to find a sandwich on par with them in all the 5 boroughs. There's 8 cutting lines once you get in, and some good advice is to let them know how to slice your meat and / or cheese. I recommend thin or extra thin. The next challenge is to find a table. I recommend having someone from your group find a table while the rest order food or beverages. Also, there's another line to wait for table service, and if I ever go back, I will definitely choose that. I prefer it back in the old days when I used to go there over 35 years ago. It was just like in the movie, When Harry Met Sally. There were no lines and all table service.“

I had the Le French Baguette and I can easily say it was the best sandwich I had in the past year, likely longer. I am still thinking about it, maybe becoming obsessed. Everything tasted so fresh - the bread, the ham, the generous slices of brie, the lettuce and tomato. Everything just melded beautifully and the Dijon gave it the right punch. It was made to order so it did take about 10 minutes but man, was it worth the wait. I ate it about 15 minutes after pickup and there was no sogginess whatsoever. Generous portion, very fair price. We live in Manhattan but I will be making the trip over there again. Looking forward. I hope they can repeat their greatness!“
