“Alex is an absolute institution in the neighborhood and (even more important), a truly good soul whose kindness makes all of the food taste even better. He knows every family by name, and goes out of his way to look out for all of us. This morning he saw me drop by coffee all over myself on the street and was immediately there with a wet towel and a replacement coffee. “Awesome italian deli with great bread and sandwhiches. They also have a small hot table w prepared foods and a small section of imported Italian goods and mets memorabilia. They own the bakery next door and I saw someone who ordered some amazing looking french toast and bacon egg n cheese on foccacia. They have a garden patio with seating and a fountain that you can sit at and enjoy. The garden area reminds me of my grandparents and elderly relatives. Love how the painted mural has the Bari mentioned.“

“Fillmore Deli and Backroom is a pretty solid neighborhood spot with a surprising mix of options. The Korean fried chicken is actually really good crispy, flavorful, and definitely worth trying. They also have a large variety of sandwiches, so there’s something for whatever mood you’re in.

One thing that always throws me off though is they tend to run out of the tuna pretty often, which is strange for a deli. But besides that, everything else seems to be okay. It’s a reliable place to grab a quick bite and the food usually hits the spot.“
