The summit itself and the Castle building remain an interesting destination regardless, with sweeping views over the Adirondack High Peaks, Lake Champlain, and the Green Mountains of Vermont. The structure is worth a look from the outside, and the observation area is accessible even when the café is closed. That said, for hikers counting on a warm stop and some food after a winter ascent, it is worth checking operating hours before heading out.“
