“This was my second time at NY Axe Williamsburg and they really upgraded their game since they were bought out in Fall 2023. They now have interactive screens over the wall where you throw the axes so that axe throwing doesn't get stale, including a Zombie Killer game and a version of the card game 21 (where you need to hit certain cards, in this case with an axe, to get exactly 21 points). It was a great way to spend time with my family and the instructors were very friendly and tried to give instructions to help improve our skills. I would definitely go back!“
“Came to L'incontro for a casual lunch on a Saturday around 2p. Did not have a reservation and was immediately seated. I gotta say, the service was excellent! Many waiters were serving us and they were constantly checking if we needed something. They were refilling out waters all the time and it was just very polite. What was interesting is the "daily special menu", the waiter was standing their reading about the daily special for like at least 5 mins and we had to stop him from continuing. Either way, we got the bucatini cacio e pepe and it was very yummy. My husband got the veal and it was not the most photogenic dish, but tasted much better than it looked. We also got the octopus, which was soaked in balsamic, also very nice. Overall a very nice traditional Italian place.“
“Even though I grew up in LI I never liked NY triangle slices. I always ate Sicilian slices. Detroit style is an ever better version of a square pie with cheesy crusty sides. Insanely good! Ace’s is the only one I have had in NYC and it lived up to the best I have had out of state. It’s also a cool retro atmosphere. Would definitely come here again to try more pies. The music is so cool and trendy - goes along well with the vibe. The menu is straight to the point with amazing options. We ordered the Caesar salad, VCR pizza, espresso pot de creme dessert and a cocktail. First of all, my cocktail (Night Rally) is soooo delish!! The Caesar salad is an extreme 10/10. I absolutely loved it! The VCR pizza… another 10/10! The sauce and pepperoni and a bit spicy for those who are sensitive to spice. Nonetheless it was phenomenal. The dessert was such a pleasant, light surprise! I asked if they have an affogato and the substitute was such a relief! We loved it. Just one downside with one of the employees there - she wasn’t too friendly. Good thing she wasn’t our server. Either way, I absolutely would return in a heartbeat!!“

They have espresso martinis on tap but we opted for the wine - all reasonably priced by the glass and super tasty!Between two people we shared the DelRay (their version of a pepperoni) and a white kale pie. The DelRay was a juicy and savoring slice with perfect tomato sauce, and salty greasy saucers of meat. They have chili oil and chili flakes which only help magnify the flavors. The white kale has a base of a nut-free kale pesto with cheese and garlic. This one was a sleeper hit. I usually don’t like white pies but this one blew my expectations.We also had a tres leches cake which was soaked in sweet milk and had a sponge texture. Not my favorite dessert but it could have been that I was so full at this point.I can’t wait to come back and try my pizzas. Might be my favorite sit down spot in NY for pizza ?❤️“

“i ordered their prosciutto and burrata (which comes with imported burrata and 24 Month prosciutto di parma), tonnarelli cacio e pepe (pasta with pecorino and black pepper), and infernetto pinsa (roman style pizza with tomato, mozzarella, spicy soppressata, and pecorino). all in all, every dish was made with fine ingredients and was cooked well. the burrata was very creamy and delicious, i would recommend it if you’re a fan of burrata cheese. the pizza had a good coal fire taste to it and came out hot and flavorful (the spicy soppressata was tasty, but i would like to try some of their other flavors eventually). the cacio e pepe was tasty and had a strong pecorino flavor (creamy, rich, slight cheesy musk to it). the pasta had good texture and mouthfeel (firm al dente noodles). all in all a decent spot for italian!“

So when the complimentary, and perfectly cooked, bread came to the table I asked for a side of cheese. I tasted it plain and could tell immediately that it was DOP. (Those who know what that means, understand my meaning.)I then proceeded to have the carbonara. Many restaurants (even those who claim they are Italian) in the US make this dish with cream…and that’s totally wrong. The magic of this dish is the perfect amount of pasta water and cheese that is added to the pasta and then vigorously mixed until it becomes creamy. And the egg must be tempered, or else you end up with scrambled eggs. And guess what…this restaurant knows how to do it perfectly.For dessert I had their bread pudding…another classic Italian dessert that if done correctly, is delicious and if done incorrectly is just a pile of blah. The chef here, once again, outdid himself. It was so buttery and the ratio of raisins to bread was perfect. Plus the hint of Sambuca just put this over the top.I can confidently say that I will be back, and can’t wait to order one of everything over the course of my upcoming many visits. The pizza was fantastic (much better than most neopolitan places in the US, though the pizzas are a bit more busy ingredient/topping-wise than your usual neopolitan pizza), had a great salad. I loved that they had a bunch of imported Italian beer, most of which I’d never even heard of before but was really fun to try. The tiramisu was amazing - tasted truly homemade with actual mascorpone, lady fingers, and the right amount of coffee and cocoa powder. And the lemon sorbetto was surprisingly great and came served in an actual lemon!! Will def go back. One of my favorite discoveries in NYC.“
