“We sat outdoor on a Saturday night. Good food and atmosphere. Service is slow. Not that the waitress is bad, in fact, she is nice but there aren’t enough people it seems.

I know about labor shortage but I am a paying customer. I am not into worrying about anything else…“

“My best friend lives in Queens so she and I come to the Onion Tree every other Friday night. I wish this place was closer to me. I live in Yonkers. The food is superb, seasoned extraordinarily. The chicken is fresh, soft and cut into small bites. I always order chicken tikka masala, butter chicken, or chicken tikka pizza. I have never had food that I enjoyed this much and I have tried all foods all over the world. I never get tired of this place. And the food is served quickly and piping hot. They’re opening a second place in Manhattan. We’re getting closer to Yonkers!! The drinks are awesome too. Barbra and Louis work behind the bar. They’re friendly and great bartenders.“

It is a quintessential community institution - where even if you are new to the village, you will be made to feel at home! All are welcomed - there are board games and always sports on multiple TVs- I have been coming to this establishment through several different owners and name changes- but the current owner is the best by far!“

Opinions about this Mamaroneck institution are as strong and mixed as their cocktails, but as various bars open and close all around it, this place stays true to itself. It's a neighborhood dive bar of the sort that are ubiquitous in my native Wisconsin, but rare gems in the NYC metro. Craft cocktails and small batch IPAs will not be found here, but simple mixed drinks and domestic drafts are always on hand. Darts and a few other bar games are cheap or free, and the beautiful original window storefront opens up wide to let the warm air in on summer nights. I have had some great memories here and it always feels like a sip of home.“

And since they bought DiMaggios next door the food has taken a step up from their normally great food and specials. The place looks really nice, too! “This bar is the best one I have been at. They have the best pizzas in the world, the drinks are def great here too! The owner Anna and all her bar tenders and sisters that work behind the bar are always so caring and kind. Not alot bars have caring people but this bar does! Even the customers I met to hang out with were kind, and when we played pool it was nice how respectful they were. In all, def come here bc even the back lounge area is made like into a meditative spot with lots of blooming flowers. Once a week theres free food that is barbecued. The best hotdogs or home cooked food people bring in. ❤??????☺️“
