“We had the personal pizzas and they were excellent. They have draft beer and a variety of mixed drinks. The seating is cozy. Wait staff was attentive and ready with recommendations for first timers. It can get a bit loud when full but a very warm and inviting atmosphere.“

“Excellent coffee shop on Long Island, come for the caffeine and stay for the community. We stopped by my mom’s favorite coffee shop mid-afternoon, because the family was trying to kill me with caffeine deprivation. The oat milk latte was carefully made and smooth and easy to drink. The interior is great, for a brief moment in time you are anywhere in the World with roll up garage doors, fooseball and a clean setting for evening entertainment. I’ll be back next time I’m visiting!“

“My best friend lives in Queens so she and I come to the Onion Tree every other Friday night. I wish this place was closer to me. I live in Yonkers. The food is superb, seasoned extraordinarily. The chicken is fresh, soft and cut into small bites. I always order chicken tikka masala, butter chicken, or chicken tikka pizza. I have never had food that I enjoyed this much and I have tried all foods all over the world. I never get tired of this place. And the food is served quickly and piping hot. They’re opening a second place in Manhattan. We’re getting closer to Yonkers!! The drinks are awesome too. Barbra and Louis work behind the bar. They’re friendly and great bartenders.“

And since they bought DiMaggios next door the food has taken a step up from their normally great food and specials. The place looks really nice, too! “I was with some friends for a bit of a reunion. I honestly did not know what to expect from Haven but all I can say is that it is a wonderful, friendly and cozy place. The lite bites were all tasty, but the tap list, the whisky...and whiskey list were outstanding, but the cocktails...oh my! Everyone in our party thought the cocktails were truly outstanding, different, and creative. And priced fairly. I have paid more at several places for cocktails that were nowhere as good as at Haven. The owners are delightful and made us feel at home and next time I find myself in Port Chester, forget anywhere else...I know where I am going. Thanks Haven!“

Opinions about this Mamaroneck institution are as strong and mixed as their cocktails, but as various bars open and close all around it, this place stays true to itself. It's a neighborhood dive bar of the sort that are ubiquitous in my native Wisconsin, but rare gems in the NYC metro. Craft cocktails and small batch IPAs will not be found here, but simple mixed drinks and domestic drafts are always on hand. Darts and a few other bar games are cheap or free, and the beautiful original window storefront opens up wide to let the warm air in on summer nights. “We had a last minute reservation for 8 people, and we were lucky enough to snag a table. YOU HAVE TO TRY THIS PLACE! Our entire table loved the food. From the appetizers (the warm bread, the amazing carmalized onion spread, & the Calamari), to the main courses (the NY strip steak, the shrimp, and the ravioli), to the dessert (trust me... get the bread pudding!) everything was impeccable.
