“All you have to remember is: Chicken Cutlet Chili Cheese California on a Wedge. Music to my ears. I crave this sandwich. The chicken cutlet is thin and crispy, the chili is spicy, and the mayo lettuce and tomato cuts the spice. It's truly the perfect sandwich and every bite leaves you wanting to come back for more and more and more.“

Opinions about this Mamaroneck institution are as strong and mixed as their cocktails, but as various bars open and close all around it, this place stays true to itself. It's a neighborhood dive bar of the sort that are ubiquitous in my native Wisconsin, but rare gems in the NYC metro. Craft cocktails and small batch IPAs will not be found here, but simple mixed drinks and domestic drafts are always on hand. Darts and a few other bar games are cheap or free, and the beautiful original window storefront opens up wide to let the warm air in on summer nights. I have had some great memories here and it always feels like a sip of home.“

“I vividly remember the old Mercurio store the was on the Avenue across from this one. What a classic Italian deli, with the servers dressed in white smocks. The variety of Italian delicacies, and the aromas, were so enticing. I was glad to see that the pasta store still exists. The lasagna noodles and fettuccine we purchased were excellent.“

“I would definitely recommend the ceviche pescado (fish only) or mixto (mixed with seafood. Light and refreshing. The chicken is very good and moist. You can order a quarter chicken which is convenient for a child. The portions are generous.“

“We love going to Foster—at this point, you could say we’re regulars. We typically sit at the bar. We especially love their specials, and I’m still thinking about the elk burger I had last year (please bring it back!).The oysters are always fresh and delicious, and the fried chicken is absolutely amazing. Recently, I’ve been loving the salmon with corn and shishito succotash and blueberry teriyaki. Honestly, everything is consistently fresh and delicious.

John, the bartender, makes excellent cocktails—many with fun names like Silence of the Lambrusco. He puts a lot of care into his craft, from house-infused ingredients to thoughtful presentation. He also always keeps you hydrated with their house water, which I truly appreciate.

Happy hour is a great deal and is available at the bar only, Wednesday through Sunday from 5:00–7:00 pm, and all night on Mondays. We love ordering the wood-fired Margherita pizza and fried chicken wings for $12.36, along with their house margarita at $10.30—delicious and affordable.

When we do get a table, the service is always spot on.

She made sure our drinks were always full, checked on us at the perfect times, and gave great menu recommendations.

What really stood out was her positive attitude and genuine care for the customers. Even though the restaurant was busy, she handled everything smoothly and made us feel like a priority. Service like this truly makes the whole dining experience better.

Urban Central on Central Ave was welcoming and very clean, and the food tasted fresh and delicious. We actually took a chance on this place about three weeks ago and were very satisfied, so we went back again last week-and it was the same great, welcoming experience.

They served the mayo on the side so it wasn't slathered too heavily and the side chips were great, not greasy or salty. I substituted a salad for the chips and it was generous and fresh. “First time in the restaurant and dined in. I ordered steak 🥩 but was given a big slab of burger. I was disappointed and told them I didn’t order ground beef I wanted steak. You cannot confuse me with food I’m a foodie I know what I want. I asked them to give me a real piece of meat steak and they did. I wasn’t rude or anything I just didn’t expect to be given that kind lol. If I wanted a burger 🍔 I would’ve ordered burger. It’s obviously not a steak they should change the description of that menu item if that’s the case. Don’t dupe me with something I didn’t ask for and cover it with sauces and mountain of sides. Anyway, they were nice enough to change it the way I asked. I appreciated that. Thank you for your service and kind understanding!“

My burger bun was hard as a rock, the bacon was hard and cold, my kids' broccoli was swimming in some weird oil like liquid, inedible, the chicken Mac& Cheese bowl tasted warm and seemed microwabable.....and we literally had to send back the wine carafe, it was BITTER!!! Needless to say a waste of money! Sorry, I wouldn't recommend, cute place but that is all.“
