“Excellent coffee shop on Long Island, come for the caffeine and stay for the community. We stopped by my mom’s favorite coffee shop mid-afternoon, because the family was trying to kill me with caffeine deprivation. The oat milk latte was carefully made and smooth and easy to drink. The interior is great, for a brief moment in time you are anywhere in the World with roll up garage doors, fooseball and a clean setting for evening entertainment. I’ll be back next time I’m visiting!“

“My best friend lives in Queens so she and I come to the Onion Tree every other Friday night. I wish this place was closer to me. I live in Yonkers. The food is superb, seasoned extraordinarily. The chicken is fresh, soft and cut into small bites. I always order chicken tikka masala, butter chicken, or chicken tikka pizza. I have never had food that I enjoyed this much and I have tried all foods all over the world. I never get tired of this place. And the food is served quickly and piping hot. “I was with some friends for a bit of a reunion. I honestly did not know what to expect from Haven but all I can say is that it is a wonderful, friendly and cozy place. The lite bites were all tasty, but the tap list, the whisky...and whiskey list were outstanding, but the cocktails...oh my! Everyone in our party thought the cocktails were truly outstanding, different, and creative. And priced fairly. I have paid more at several places for cocktails that were nowhere as good as at Haven. • Crispy Calamari & Crispy Sushi Bite – a must-try! The sushi bite was so good I ordered two rounds.

• Sweet Potato Fries – always a a good idea.

• 12-Hour Short Ribs – 4/5; flavorful, but would’ve been perfect if a bit more tender.

• Steak Au Poivre – 4.5/5; cooked well, though the sauce leaned slightly on the bitter side.

• Steak Yakisoba – 4/5; satisfying and well-balanced.

• Black Gold Truffle Fried Rice – 4/5; rich, but had a slight bitter aftertaste.

• Desserts – great variety, and everything we tried was chef’s kiss.

“The food and service was excellent. All three of us had the salmon BLT. A plus that it's on multigrain toast. They served the mayo on the side so it wasn't slathered too heavily and the side chips were great, not greasy or salty. I substituted a salad for the chips and it was generous and fresh. Our server was friendly, efficient and had a sense of humor. We had a great time and will be back.“

“The Snug and City Island Diner are true local treasures. They’re owned by the same wonderful people and share a kitchen, but each has its own vibe and hours — and together they’re unbeatable.

The fully loaded chili here is hands-down the best I’ve ever had. It’s rich, hearty, perfectly seasoned, and also shows up in their nachos, which makes them next-level comfort food.

One of my favorite things? They have a secret menu (no longer advertised) with specialty grilled cheese sandwiches and specialty hot dogs — and we absolutely love it. The Tuscan Melt (no onion) is perfection, and the Reuben Dog is unforgettable. With the hot dogs you get two, and you can mix and match styles, which is such a fun and generous touch.

At The Snug, my go-to drink is a black & tan, which pairs perfectly with the cozy, neighborhood pub feel. Over at the diner, my favorite dish is the Corned Beef Hash breakfast — classic, satisfying, and done exactly right.

Beyond the food, what really sets these places apart is the people. Every server is genuinely kind, welcoming, and deeply plugged into the City Island community. You feel like a regular even on your first visit.

If you find yourself in Tarrytown for shopping or seeing a show at The Music Hall, make a stop at The Tapp a part of the experience. Better still, make the trip just to visit The Tapp alone. It really is a great place to hang out with friends, catch a singer, play Tuesday Night Trivia, or have a terrific meal.“

The Apps were great, Hush Puppies and Fried Calamari, yum. I did a make-your-own Seafood Boil. OH MY GOD. “We decided to return to this lounge for the second time because we enjoyed the first visit.This visit different but mostly fun nonetheless.We sat for maybe 5-10 minutes because the bartender finished her conversation to attend to us.During those 5-10 minutes we enjoyed the Karaoke that was two rum punches which was a whopping $30.That threw me off a bit because on our first visit we order 6 drinks total for $50.Anyway, the rum punches were good, one was STRONG, the other was sweet but you could still taste the liquor.We were then greeted by a second bartender who was more pleasant than the first and more welcoming.She asked questions and checked on us to make sure we were okay.The dj was good but you can tell he’s old school which is fine because the car attracts crowds off all ages.The regulars there participating in the karaoke had great voices, especially the men.I asked about a food menu but was told that the kitchen was closed, this was about 11:30pm Friday night.They recommended a food truck that was parked next to the building that was affiliated with the lounge.The bathroom was very clean and well kept.
