“We tried Taco Island Mexican Cantina in Mount Sinai for the first time tonight. We ordered the Fish Taco, Avacado Taco, Chicken Bacon Ranch Burrito, chips with homemade guac, and lastly the Pizza De Birria. The food was outstanding!! Honestly, it was some of the best Authentic Mexican food we have ever had. (Even our picky kids loved it) The employees were also super nice and brought us chips and sauces while we waited. After we ate they also brought us to go containers and a bag with a smile. 10 out of 10. Will return soon.“

It was my first time at this restaurant and it did not disappoint at all!
Im really bad with names but I think his name was Ricky, the manager/counter person. He was super welcoming, explained the menu, all our questions, hooked us up with some queso to try with the chips we ordered and threw in some dessert also!! Regardless of that, the guy is the type of person that'll make you wanna come back again.
With that aside, the food was amazing as well, big portions, super tasty, flavorful and their own sauce adds a nice flavor to it.
Highly recommend to any and everyone, Def must try. Come hungry cause their portions are pretty big, definitely worth the price!!“

Top-tier service, great cashier.

Guac is great, pork taco was great. Chicken taco was super dry and nasty. Steak taco was okay.

Rice was straight mushy. Could be from the drive home though.

My main issue is the sauce, asked for the spiciest they had and it didn’t have a hint of spice. It tasted sweet, a mild sauce from Taco Bell is spicier.

Really confused by it, my girlfriend who can’t handle pepper said it was good and had a “little kick to it”. She can’t even handle green Tabasco without freaking out… I NEED ME SOME HEAT MIGUEL!“

“Delicious Mexican food at a great price, from a local fixture!
Everything fresh and fast. Stopped in to pick up a couple burritos and the chicken grill salad. Batch of fresh chips and house salsa, excellent.
Steak burrito was more than enough for one, and packed with flavor.

I got them doordashed and they were still so hot, double wrapped with a soft corn shell so they didn’t get soggy, and then individually wrapped in tin foil. “I can not express how amazing the staff here was! We walked in and the hostess sat us immediately offering great conversation, the server was funny and really made our experience top notch. “My Dominican wife and I have tried almost every Hispanic restaurant on Long Island. We love authentic Mexican, Peruvian, Ecuadorian, Colombian, Dominican, Puerto Rican, all types of real Hispanic food. The food from this place is absolutely unbelievable. The el pastor taco was enough to make me close my eyes and block out the world. It was by far the most amazing taco I’ve ever had in my life. The octopus was also out of this world. The flavor and portions are unmatchable. I can’t say enough about how good this food is. You would never know it, hidden in this location. I swear on everything I almost got emotional eating this taco.“

The decor screams authentic and fiesta, the servers are all very friendly and helpful, and we love the menu!

There is something for everyone, our favorites are the fajitas and the enchiladas. There’s even a kids menu so our little guys can enjoy the night out with us.

Drinks are always great and the prices won’t disappoint either.

“My sons and I ordered takeout today; it was convenient to order online, and it was ready at the estimated time. The serving sizes are large. We ordered chicken, yellow rice, plantains, beef patties, and rice pudding. It was all delicious. And the woman who welcomed us in and packaged up our food greeted us with a smile. There's nothing better than authentic food.“

“Even though our son is a professional chef and we think of ourselves as "foodies," we have only limited experience with Caribbean cuisine. That's going to change, because we will absolutely go back to Taino's to explore more of the menu. We went around 6-ish on a Monday night to celebrate my birthday, and the only other patrons were at the bar. They appeared to be regulars, and the vibe was warm and casual. Coconut shrimp is one of my guilty pleasures and I order it every time I see it on a menu. Tainos' was quite possibly the best I've ever had: enormous shrimp coated in batter and flaked coconut, fried to crispy perfection and served with a to-die-for coconut dipping sauce. I'm also a skirt steak junkie, so ordered the Churrasco al la Parrilla which is served with a large serving of rice, bowl of red beans and chimichurri sauce, all presented beautifully, complete with an orchid. I was so full from the shrimp, I took nearly all of my entree home. Our lovely waitress (also the bartender) packed up my leftovers so they were just as attractive and appetizing the next day. Everything, including the steak, reheated perfectly. Granted, at my age I have a small appetite, but I'll be finishing the second (!) half of my steak, rice and beans tonight (night #3). Our son ordered the chicken Canasta de Platano (plantain 'baskets') appetizer and grudgingly gave me only a tiny (delicious) taste. Husband ordered fried cheese, and ate a whole piece even before I could take a photo. Again, I was allowed only one bite, but know I'll order my own the next time we're there. He also ordered the skirt steak, but our son tried the Colombian platter (steak, avocado, pork cracklings, fried egg, rice and more), which he loved. He gave me the sweet corn cakes which I devoured. Can't wait to try "mofungo," which seems to be a signature dish. The oxtails look fabulous, too.“
