It might take a little while to get my order by NYC standards but pretty fast for weatchester, but the short wait is more then worth it. The staff there are genuinely friendly and kind, which makes the experience even better always going the extra mile“

“What a delicious, pleasant surprise this little restaurant was! When I walked in I honestly didn't expect too much because it was small and completely empty, and could have been a little cleaner. However the food was outstanding, and I am VERY picky. My friend and I split a ginormous Greek salad (the stuffed grape leaves were unbelievable), and we each ordered a gyro. Mine was chicken and so good! We also ordered the side of fries, and for $4 we received a large basket of fresh, hand cut, perfectly cooked fries. I don't live anywhere New Rochelle but I'm hoping to make it back there!“

“Perfect little neighborhood gyro shop. We are frequent customers. Very residential area, quiet and relaxed. The food is great, it always tastes very fresh. Large portions. Our usual waitress Violetta is attentive, friendly, and wonderful. We live a block away and they are good neighbors and a wonderful addition to the community. Only drawback when visiting is that parking can be a challenge.“

She went out of her way to make sure we were comfortable and had everything we needed. It's rare to see such genuine, friendly service these days.

As for the food—wow, just wow! Beyond authentic! It tastes just like the food in Greece. The flavors were out of this world. Each dish was packed with so much taste, you could tell they used high-quality ingredients, and everything was perfectly seasoned. We ordered for four people, and everything came out fast—no waiting around here!

“There is no lack of Souvlaki restaurants in NYC, let alone Astoria, but Christos Souvlaki Stand stands out.

Your basic choices (as I understand them) are- skewer, sandwich, or platter. Then you choose chicken or pork. While your order is being assembled, a couple of additional questions: hot sauce (say yes, it’s not that hot), BBQ sauce (say yes, it’s not what you think), and “everything”? (Also say yes, as this includes Tatziki, lettuce, onions, and tomatoes.

I ordered a fantastic pork souvlaki sandwich (with all of the above). The pork had just the right amount of char and smoke from their natural charcoal, but it was still juicy and tender. The fresh pita became a sponge for all the delicious juice that needed a home before my belly. I had to take it home, but you can see its ample size. In total, I think it was $7!

If you need to get on the subway to come here, do it. It’s totally worth it.“

“I discovered Taverna Kos in Astoria through a YouTube video, and I’m so glad I went—it was an excellent experience. “Cute little food truck in a very busy area, and with so many options around I’m glad I chose to stop here. There’s no seating (as expected with a truck), but the food makes up for it. The ladies running it are super nice, and even though there’s usually a small line, it moves quickly. They’re clearly popular — while I was waiting, I noticed a lot of Greek people coming by, which is always a great sign of authenticity. The service was phenomenal as was the foo, from the appetizers to the dessert. We ordered the Agean special. The watermelon salad was one of my favorites! “I stopped by BZ Grill in Astoria for a quick lunch and left seriously impressed. The owner, Margarita, is a super nice, hardworking lady who clearly takes pride in her food — everything is made fresh and with care.

I ordered the Bifteki Sandwich Lunch Special, which comes with fries. The bifteki (a seasoned Greek-style all-beef patty) was packed with flavor — juicy, perfectly grilled over charcoal, and I could taste a hint of cumin and other warm spices. Easily a 9/10. I also tried the kebab— a delicious mix of ground beef and lamb with Middle Eastern spices. It was tender and flavorful — a solid 8.5/10.

Overall, BZ Grill is a must-try for Greek street food lovers. Great flavors, generous hospitality, and a clean, welcoming vibe. I’ll definitely be back!“

It’s been a long time since I’ve eaten here I miss the large metal bowls the salads were made in… and sure, “dressing on the side” is the healthier option but it seems to have taken away the classic-ness of the Greek salad. Still fresh and delicious, though!“

For my time here I received chocolate chip pancakes(a stack of four) w/ 2 hash browns and they were very tasty and filling. The chocolate pancakes weren’t too sweet but very carb heavy. I got a crazy potato with a cheese stick. It wasn’t dry nor too moist, the softest part was definitely the inside with the cheese. I also got a sunshine slush and a mango slush. The sunshine was a mango and strawberry mix with the same flavored bubbles and some small jelly cubes that were a happy surprise. The mango slush is much more recommended since it wasn’t too sweet and would relate more towards a frozen agua Fresca so very refreshing and light.
