“Five of us had a party on Saturday evening. The tavern was quite busy which reflected on service (our waiter wasn't present all the time). But I can understand that.
The space itself doesn't look like a typical Greek tavern, but high ceiling, good furniture and an appropriate lighting are definitely worth mentioning.
The food is good, but some portions are too small. For example, Greek salad is very tasty, but the portion is way too small. The same goes for grilled saganaki. In addition, our lamb chops were served well-done, although we asked for medium. On the other hand, our red snapper was great.
Restrooms are too small for a restaurant with this capacity.
The wine list should be MUCH better.
Overall, it wasn't a bad experience. And the prices are very reasonable to be honest.
However, if I compare the food and portions with some other Greek taverns in Astoria I have to admit there are better options.“

It’s intimate diner throw back to another time atmosphere is refreshing! The traditional Greek food is out of this world and very reasonably priced. And it has a thriving takeout/ delivery business. Neighborhood eateries like The Family Corner - is what makes our Astoria community great!!!“

“Christos Souvlaki Stand is a gold mine and I say that because there isn't a day that there isn't a swarm of customers gathered here. His souvlaki is the absolute best within the Astoria area!
It's always so fresh, well seasoned and prepared right in front of you and can be topped with whatever sauce you want - my go to is the BBQ sauce.

“I discovered Taverna Kos in Astoria through a YouTube video, and I’m so glad I went—it was an excellent experience. The owner, Mike, was incredibly humble, down-to-earth, and took the time to check in and make sure we felt at home. You can tell he cares deeply about both the food and the people who come through his doors.

“When it comes to the top 3 food carts for souvlaki in Astoria, I always put Souvlaki Lady in the conversation. I’ve been going there for years, and it never disappoints. The chicken thigh souvlaki is juicy, tender, and perfectly charred, and the pork skewers have that classic smoky flavor I grew up loving. “The food was amazing, I order a stuffed burger but what I received was not as expected nevertheless it was delicious 😋. My friend and I had a last minute dinner and went there. The salmon was cooked to perfection and moist. Oh, I wasn't expecting veggies to taste delicious but their veggies was amazing delicious. I hate zucchini and I ate how delicious it was. “I got a chicken gyro to eat inside, the lady asked “with everything?” and I said yes. Usually “with everything” means that it has fries (and no lettuce). The one I received did not have fries (it had lettuce). Disappointing. It was still great and had crispy gyro meat. I ate inside the restaurant and at some point a worker opened the door and a horrid dishwasher sewage smell blasted out, in my direction. I had nearly finished eating at that point but my last bites were difficult to swallow.“

“Outstanding bakery. They have a number of hard to find Greek and Mediterranean specialty pastries. Prices are reasonable and there is a nice little seating area on the sidewalk. Namely - they have Kavala cookies. Delicious and crispy. What a treat to find these here.“
