“Five of us had a party on Saturday evening. The tavern was quite busy which reflected on service (our waiter wasn't present all the time). But I can understand that.
The space itself doesn't look like a typical Greek tavern, but high ceiling, good furniture and an appropriate lighting are definitely worth mentioning.
The food is good, but some portions are too small. For example, Greek salad is very tasty, but the portion is way too small. The same goes for grilled saganaki. In addition, our lamb chops were served well-done, although we asked for medium. On the other hand, our red snapper was great.
Restrooms are too small for a restaurant with this capacity.
The wine list should be MUCH better.
Overall, it wasn't a bad experience. And the prices are very reasonable to be honest.
However, if I compare the food and portions with some other Greek taverns in Astoria I have to admit there are better options.“

“Food is so delicious and great, we tried the egg and cheese with halal bacon which was tasty, but the short ribs sandwich is another level of tastiness, was just perfect!
Their coffee is also perfect.
The staff are very friendly and nice, for sure I recommend this spot for a brunch.“

There was a small mishap where our order took really long to come but they gave us a complimentary beer and we're very polite about the situation.
Overall we waited over an hour.“

“Awesome little spot, would highly recommend. Literally tasted like it was home cooking. The everything bagel with lox was great, but the chicken with rice and beans was my favorite. Chicken was fall off the bone tender and melted in my mouth, with a kick of flavor from house-made salsa verde and some heat for good measure. I was also surprised that such a small place had amazing coffee as well. I only wish I had a bigger appetite that day so I could have had the ruben sandwich! Looking forward to coming again. Yaseen is an amazing owner!“

“First off , the food is incredible and definitely my death row meal (iykyk). Store is gorgeous , the wait staff are amazing, friendly and attentive. Drinks are strong and delicious. I’ve always loved this spot since the Jackson heights one. Recently I had an issue with uber and the owner went above and beyond to address the issue. I think it says a lot when not only the food is outstanding but also the entire staff. Thank you again!“

“Get ready to clutch your pearls: I've not yet been to Abuqir.
Gasp! Shock! Horror! Won't someone please think of the CHILDREN???
In my defense, doesn't this mean my review of Le Petit Pecheur (which always makes me think of George Bizet's underrated opera, for all you Romantic Era nerds) wil be...purer? No annoying comparisons and such?
I digress. We came, we seafood-ed, we smiled.
- Fried Sardines: My favorite dish of the night. Perfectly breaded, lightly crispy, totally filling, yet not briney or heavy. I think I'm in love....
- Baba Ganoush + Hummus + Pita: I forget why we ordered these, but they were tasty and creamy and made a nice distraction while we waited for our entrees.
- Grilled Octopus: Perfectly chewy and zesty, exactly the kind of poulpe you might enjoy on the beachy coast of the southern Mediterranean.
- Scallops: Also well cooked, and tastier than they had any right to be considering the simple seasoning.
- Shrimp Linguine in butter garlic sauce: I mean, you really can't go wrong with a dish like this. My only regret was having to share it with five other friends.
- Branzino: Butterflied, tender and full of flavor. There are many branzino dishes out there. This one won't break the bank, and will leave both your stomach and your wallet happy.
If you need more, definitely pad your meal with Mashed Potatoes and Fries because carbs are happy things, and happy things deserve to be eaten.
Space is ample, as are the portions, and service is quick and friendly. They play a lovely mix of North African French and Arabic music, which just adds to the beachy resort town atmosphere, IMO. Perhaps one day I'll finally make it to Abuqir, and the cycle will be complete.“

Highly recommend for having parties or going on date nights.“

“Pasta, al dente. Sauce, out of this world. Vibes, off the charts. Il Nonno is such a breath of fresh (basil-filled) air. Last night, I stopped in with my friends for dinner and --more than once--after one side of the table tried a dish and implored the other to try, our eyes met in total food joy. "Oh my gah...this is SO good" was uttered too many times to count. Now let's get to the nitty, gritty. Our picks: Porcini ravioli (homemade pasta, phenomenal) Seafood risotto (menu says it's in a light tomato sauce. Definitely light, but it's far more flavorful than what I consider "light tomato sauce") Pasta Bolognese (another handmade wonder, lusciously complex sauce). Pasta Siciliana this one has eggplant and ricotta in a ROBUST sauce. Squid Ink Seafood Pasta was out of control. Like I need more savory adjectives in my life to describe this adequately. Apps. We loved all equally, but I mean calamari fritti is a no-brainer here and I literally had to slap the bread out of one friend's hand because she'd say she was full but relentlessly dipped more and more bread into the white wine mussels broth! The tuna carpaccio was almost too pretty to eat buuuut...we scarfed it down. Finally, Dessert. Chocolate cake (go with me here...you could smell the warm chocolate as it approached the table, incredible). Tiramisu, not too sweet, not too "damp"...perfection. And quite possibly even better than the banging food, we were lucky enough to chat up the delightful owner who introduced us to the chef (who happened to come from a VERY well-known Italian restaurant in Manhattan)! And all of the culinary magic instantly made sense. Don't walk. Don't run. Teleport to this place. Your taste buds will love you for it.“

“Amazing place. So invited. You walk in and it feels like family. The staff, especially the owner, are all wonderful. I go there with my 1 year old daughter and always get the vegan Spinach pie. OMG sooooo freaking good. I can eat so many of them but I restrict myself to one. Even my daughter loves it. She gets so happy when we stroll on into the cafe because she knows what that means. I hope to try other items but just can’t let go of that spinach pie. Ugh so good lol“

“You must check out this coffee roaster in Astoria! They have a variety of coffees available so you are sure to find one you like. If you want a little treat they offer a variety of pastries including gluten free and vegan options which is a huge plus. On Mondays at 10:30 am they do weekly coffee cuppings that are open to the public. Be sure to give coffee cupping a try, it's fun to taste different beans and talk with others about what you're tasting.“

“Probably the best brunch I’ve had in Astoria so far. My bf and I LOVE food, and this is GOOD FOOD. Omg, I’ve been dreaming about the cachapa since I had the first bite.
Service is extremely friendly, feels like a neighborhood spot. Owners are super nice and personable. Music is fun. If you’re hispanic you’ll probably love it here. 🇻🇪 Try the passion fruit mimosa on a Saturday morning with an empty stomach because my goodness, you WILL be full. 🤩 Fair prices too. “I loved this place! First of all it is Islamic owned so everything is halal, kosher and Zabiha certified. (I believe) The place itself was easy on the eyes so there was a lot of color everywhere to be seen and they select art pieces on display along with props as such. They actually had movie like posters of their most popular signature options which I thought to be pretty cool as well as a wall art decor you can easily take a picture with. Plenty of seating to go around and street parking is available. They had a wide variety of selected options to choose from in their menu and luckily it was detailed, organized and visually appealing with all the pictures of the food displayed right next to the name of the dish, meal or drink. I myself spent $15 to get a Nutella, strawberry, jelly waffle Croft with a feta cheese, baby tomatoes, cucumber, black olive, mint, buttered and toasted sandwich. I would’ve got a drink but I didn’t want it to melt in my car by the time I went home. By the way I do recommend the select ice cream, smoothie, milkshake and or frosted options they have on display because they add a lot of ingredients that makes you feel you are getting the best bang for your buck. Everything is cheap, healthy and delicious and the staff are pretty welcoming and accommodating.“

“My friends who live in Astoria took us (me & my cousin & her son) to this boba place. I had Brown Sugar Milk Tea w/ black pearl, and boy, I loved it esp the soft, chewy pearl! I highly recommend it!
PS: service could improve though. I guess the girl who served us had a long day already - she had this poker face and dealt with us like she wasn’t feeling well.“

“I recently dined at this charming Italian restaurant and was genuinely impressed. From the moment we walked in, the warm lighting, rustic décor, and welcoming staff created an inviting atmosphere that felt both elegant and comfortable.
We started with bruschetta and calamari — both fresh and beautifully presented. For the main course, I ordered the Gnocchi Cacio Pepe My friend chose the Margherita pizza, and the thin crust was crisp with just the right balance of tomato sauce, fresh mozzarella, and basil.
The service was attentive without being intrusive, and our server offered thoughtful wine pairing suggestions that elevated the meal.“

“The bagel was good and the staff was nice. I took off a star because I got a smoothie and it was not great. They either need a better blender or the woman who made it needed to leave it in the blender for much longer. It was not smooth at all, it was pretty chunky and hard to drink. Not pleasant.“

“Tried probably 90% of the Chinese take out in Astoria & this ranks at the top of the list. The seasame chicken is crispy and they don’t skimp on the portion. Also the chicken and broccoli has a high chicken ratio unlike other spots near by . They stay open late, accept card and are nice people .“

“Paris Oven Bakery is a cozy, charming spot on 34th Avenue in Queens that perfectly captures the warmth and quality of a classic French bakery. The space is clean, well-maintained, and thoughtfully arranged, offering a welcoming environment for both regulars and first-time visitors. Despite its modest size, there is ample seating inside, with a few outdoor tables that add to the bakery’s inviting atmosphere.
Service at Paris Oven Bakery is outstanding. The staff, particularly the young lady behind the counter on Sunday mornings, is always friendly, professional, and genuinely welcoming, creating a personal touch that makes each visit enjoyable.
Coffee at Paris Oven Bakery is excellent, especially for espresso lovers, and pairs perfectly with their wide array of pastries. The selection includes buttery viennoiserie, delicate French specialties, and other baked goods, all prepared with care and attention to flavor and presentation. Regular customers, like myself, return week after week for the consistent quality and warm atmosphere.
Overall, Paris Oven Bakery is a delightful neighborhood gem. Its combination of outstanding service, excellent coffee, and high-quality French pastries makes it a must-visit for anyone in Queens seeking an authentic French bakery experience.“

“Had delivery a few times before and came tonight to eat in person with my wife and we loved it. It is a very tiny space but very nice. We split the stir fried bok Choi and the fried chicken mini dumplings. They were both good but the dumplings were especially great. She got chicken with broccoli and I got Mala chicken; both were also great. Finally, they gave us a free cucumber salad which was actually the best thing we had!
The staff were not very talkative but very nice!
I will definitely go back! No question.“

“Great spot for Gelato Ice cream. We really enjoy the pistachio, biscoff, dulce de leche, and espresso ice cream. 🍦 I think this store is open all year long and even on cold days we will still come here and get a couple scoops of ice cream. Just a heads up the gelato ice cream is a little sweeter and richer than regular. However with that being said there is usually a higher price for that. Be prepare to spend around $10 for cone or cup. But I highly recommend 🍨🍧“

“I walked to five different places, and I finally found this gem. Not only did I have the garden omelet with added bacon and peppers, I also had a hot pumpkin spice coffee. I didn't even need any creamer. Okay, I did put three packets of sugar. But still! Customer service was superb. There are so many different options. If I lived in the area, this would be a go-to spot. If you're getting off the subway, check this place out. You will not regret it, I promise.
