“Get ready to clutch your pearls: I've not yet been to Abuqir.
Gasp! Shock! Horror! Won't someone please think of the CHILDREN???
In my defense, doesn't this mean my review of Le Petit Pecheur (which always makes me think of George Bizet's underrated opera, for all you Romantic Era nerds) wil be...purer? No annoying comparisons and such?
I digress. We came, we seafood-ed, we smiled.
- Fried Sardines: My favorite dish of the night. Perfectly breaded, lightly crispy, totally filling, yet not briney or heavy. I think I'm in love....
- Baba Ganoush + Hummus + Pita: I forget why we ordered these, but they were tasty and creamy and made a nice distraction while we waited for our entrees.
- Grilled Octopus: Perfectly chewy and zesty, exactly the kind of poulpe you might enjoy on the beachy coast of the southern Mediterranean.
- Scallops: Also well cooked, and tastier than they had any right to be considering the simple seasoning.
- Shrimp Linguine in butter garlic sauce: I mean, you really can't go wrong with a dish like this. My only regret was having to share it with five other friends.
- Branzino: Butterflied, tender and full of flavor. There are many branzino dishes out there. This one won't break the bank, and will leave both your stomach and your wallet happy.
If you need more, definitely pad your meal with Mashed Potatoes and Fries because carbs are happy things, and happy things deserve to be eaten.
Space is ample, as are the portions, and service is quick and friendly. They play a lovely mix of North African French and Arabic music, which just adds to the beachy resort town atmosphere, IMO. Perhaps one day I'll finally make it to Abuqir, and the cycle will be complete.“

“Private Room is easily one of my favorite night spots! The chicken wings come with a side included, which is a great deal—and everything was well seasoned and flavorful. We also tried the chicken empanadas and the oxtail pizza… both were sooo good.
It started getting pretty busy around 1 AM, and the music was a perfect mix of rap, R&B, afrobeats, and reggae, which kept the vibe going all night. If you’re into hookah, good food, and a lively atmosphere, I definitely recommend checking it out!“

There was a small mishap where our order took really long to come but they gave us a complimentary beer and we're very polite about the situation.
Overall we waited over an hour.“

“Had delivery a few times before and came tonight to eat in person with my wife and we loved it. It is a very tiny space but very nice. We split the stir fried bok Choi and the fried chicken mini dumplings. They were both good but the dumplings were especially great. She got chicken with broccoli and I got Mala chicken; both were also great. Finally, they gave us a free cucumber salad which was actually the best thing we had!
The staff were not very talkative but very nice!
I will definitely go back! No question.“
“Popeyes was formed in Arabi, Louisiana, a suburb of New Orleans, Louisiana, in St. Bernard Parish. It first opened its doors on June 12, 1972, as "Chicken on the Run". Owner Al Copeland (1944–2008) wanted to compete with Kentucky Fried Chicken, but his restaurant failed after several months. Copeland reopened the restaurant four days later as Popeyes Mighty Good Chicken. By 1975, the company had been renamed as Popeyes Famous Fried Chicken. Copeland started franchising his restaurant in 1976, beginning in Louisiana. The chain expanded to Canada in 1984, and opened its 500th restaurant in 1985. B. P. Newman of Laredo, Texas, acquired several franchises in Texas and surrounding states. Two hundred additional locations were added during a period of slower expansion.By 1990, Copeland Enterprises was in default on $391 million in debts it had taken on in its 1989 purchase of Church's, a rival fast food chain also focusing in fried chicken, and by April 1991, the company filed for bankruptcy protection. In October 1992, the court approved a plan by a group of Copeland's creditors that resulted in the creation of America's Favorite Chicken Company, Inc. (AFC) to serve as the new parent company for Popeyes and Church's.[14] AFC went public in 2001 with initial public offering (IPO) of $142,818,479.[15] On December 29, 2004, AFC sold Church's to Arcapita (formerly Crescent Capital Investments) retaining Popeyes.[citation needed]On August 8, 2000, Popeyes announced a franchise development plan/agreement that included 35 new restaurant locations around Australia in a bid to solidify their presence within the Asia Pacific region. All were to be located in Sydney, the capital city of New South Wales. On June 17, 2014, Popeyes announced it had re-acquired full control of its seasonings, recipes, and other proprietary food preparation techniques from Diversified Foods & Seasonings, which remained under the control of Al Copeland and his estate after the creditor sale of Popeyes to AFC. Popeyes had continued to license the seasonings, recipes, and techniques from DF&S for a yearly 'spice royalty', before buying them outright for $43 million. DF&S remains the main supplier for Popeyes until at least 2029.“

“We literally just went two nights in a row!
The food is awesome. First night we got the Shrimp Ala Sabry's. Amazing. Second night we got the Seafood Combo for two!! Incredible. The prices were also so reasonable!
Highly recommend!“
