the dishes were delightful :) lovely experience here!
After a few hours at MoMA, my husband and I stopped into 53 for a cocktail and a break from the summer heat. What we expected to be a quick stop turned into one of our favorite moments of the day.
The cocktails were excellent, but what really made the visit was the bartender. We ended up having a great conversation, exchanging recommendations for speakeasies and cocktail bars around the city. It's those genuine interactions that make a place memorable.

53 offers a great atmosphere for both business and personal gatherings, with a comfortable and spacious seating arrangement. The menu features a variety of creative and mostly "hit" dishes, with the option to adjust the portion sizes to accommodate party sizes. Standout menu items include the Oyster&Uni and Eel Club, while the Duck Pie Tee may be too sweet for some. The food quality can be inconsistent, with some dishes, such as the curry and mizuna salad, being described as bland and lacking in flavor. However, the food and drinks are great quality, and the expertise of the staff can enhance the dining experience. The service is excellent, but some customers have noted that the attitude of certain front staff could be improved. The high prices and small portions may not justify the overall dining experience for some customers, but many find it well worth it, especially for special occasions. Reservations are recommended, particularly during prime dining times.
