Butcher and Banker NYC Reviews
Great experience, attention to detail and very attentive staff made for a wonderful evening
Make sure to wear pants. They’ll let you in with ripped jeans if you’re rich. But regular people don’t pass muster. Steak was good. The employees work their butts off. I’d go elsewhere though.

Butcher and Banker NYC offers a unique dining experience in a stunning bank vault setting. The restaurant's beautiful decor, highlighted by the large open bank vault, creates an amazing underground atmosphere. The food, including the delectable wagyu steak special, rib-eye, New York Strip steak, filet mignon, and lamb chops, receives praise from customers for its outstanding quality. Many diners enjoy the complimentary bread with onion butter, noting it as some of the best they've had. Attentive servers consistently cater to diners' needs, and the manager often checks in to ensure a great experience. While the service is generally excellent, there have been occasional issues with dishes being overdone, but staff are quick to fix any concerns. Butcher and Banker has become a favorite for special occasions like anniversaries and birthdays, thanks to its skilled bartenders and exceptional cuisine. Many recommend the lobster mac & cheese and suggest saving room for dessert, particularly the apple tart, creme brulee, or homemade ice cream. Guests praise the flawless filet mignon, tender and perfectly cooked, as well as the expertly prepared Chilean sea bass. The atmosphere and food are highly appreciated, with some noting the experience of eating in a bank vault as fun and unique. The warm rolls, flavorful duck fat potatoes, and generous Caesar salad add to the meal's appeal. Friendly and attentive servers contribute to a pleasant evening, even if sitting in the vault can be a bit noisy at times.
Recent reviews note that service and value are very good, though some found the food just good, with less flavor than expected in the steak and vegetables. The cozy ambiance, delicious food, and great service make it a popular spot for celebrations, especially for birthdays. However, others have experienced disappointments, citing inconsistencies, such as lack of acknowledgment for special occasions, delayed or poorly presented food, and overcooked dishes like the apple tartlet. Some guests mentioned that staff failed to introduce themselves or suggest wine options, and at times, waiters were hard to find, leading to frustration. Despite these issues, the restaurant remains a place with a great space for intimate gatherings and photo opportunities. Overall, while many enjoy the setting and certain dishes, recent experiences highlight that the service and consistency can vary, impacting the overall dining experience.
