“This has honestly and silently become the most solid breakfast spot in Ridgewood. Super understated, you’ve probably passed by it without even knowing what it was or how good it is but truly it is amazing and so worth a try!

3 varieties of crispy, flaky, flavorful burek (eastern European style pizza) - cheese, meat, or spinach. I’m veggie and the spinach is honestly to die for. Portion is huge and filling, and for $7.50 a slice it’s the cheapest breakfast “sandwich” you’re gonna find in the neighborhood.

There are some tables inside if you want to sit but it’s more of a take out type of place I would say. No frills, not the best ambiance, but the food speaks for itself! So so good. Be advised it’s cash only!“

“I’ve stopped in at San Remo’s several times and enjoy their food. But recently I was trying to order some pizzas for a group of people and needed to know how many slices is in a 16 inch vs 18 inch. I tried looking at the Google photos and their website, and all that I saw were AI generated photos which I didn’t trust. So I called the restaurant to ask about the difference in slices per pizza size. When I called, an AI bot answered, not a real person. It was able to answer my question and place an order, but I didn’t fully trust it (as I work in tech and know AI algorithms can be faulty). Luckily it got my order right, but the whole thing had me uneasy. I do love the restaurant’s food, but I recommend having real photos and real human service to help customers feel at ease.“

“Went here a couple months ago. had a good chat with one of the workers there while i was waiting for my pizza, I believe his name was robert. Real nice fella! Got my pizza ready fast and had a welcoming atmosphere, keeping it cool and professional. Even going as far as double checking that my pizza was okay and making sure i got everything i had ordered!“

“La Bella is one of those pizzerias that truly understands what “old school” is supposed to mean. Not “retro-inspired.” Not “artisan.” Not “deconstructed.” Just good food, made the way you remember it, with generous ingredients, plenty of flavor, and absolutely no fear of butter, cheese, or carbs.

Everything I’ve had there feels like it was made with care. The slice selection is huge, with just about every topping combination you can think of. The Sicilian squares are especially good: thick, fluffy, properly sauced, and somehow sturdy enough underneath that you don’t need a fork, a knife, and structural engineering degree to eat one. They’ll also add whatever toppings they have available, because apparently happiness is customizable.

My Friday go-to is the baked ziti with meatballs, which never disappoints, but the real heroes of the meal are the garlic knots that come with it. Soft, chewy, absolutely drenched in buttery garlic goodness, and perfectly designed for soaking up every last bit of sauce. Calling them a “side” feels disrespectful. They are an event.

If you’re in the area, I highly recommend La Bella—especially if you’re from that particular generation that drank from the garden hose, came home when the streetlights turned on, and remembers when a neighborhood pizzeria didn’t need a mission statement.
