50 Best Chinese Restaurants near Rye

“Fairfield County Connecticut does Not have any mockmeat chinese takeout menu (the closest is New Asia- Hartford Ct which has similar mockmeat takeout offerings as this & is cheaper) so bonus points for just filling a need. Unlike other restaurants, China Harden-Rye had a whole veg/vegan menu (not just 2 lame tofu offerings like most restaurants offer) The mockmeat dishes such as sesame chikn, general tsaos, orange chikn were those fried flat, round nuggets with sauce which is OK for takeout but I can take nuggets & toss with sauce at home. I'm still searching for proper breaded seitan/tofu fried pieces that are big like non-vegan meals. There's no vegan sweet & sour pork or v- walnut shrimp which west coast vegan takeout has. && The menu says vegetarian but they claim it's vegan. Service was excellent as they accomodated my nut allergy by not putting nuts in kungpao chikn & assuring no nut oils in anything. V-beef & broccoli was delish however didnt taste like the meat-based dish & texture was excellent. Was expensive for takeout quality, we ate at the restaurant on plates & the serving size seemed smallish but food was pleasantly hot & crispy. they put relaxing musac on for our dining pleasure too. Will definitely return bc there's no other mockmeat chinese takeout place anywhere near fairfield county. Updated from previous review on 2025-03-10“

“I generally like the food here, I have tried their general tso's chicken, pad thai, scallion pancakes, pork fried dumplings and various sushi dishes which were all quite good. Not a top restaurant but definitely a decent pick and not insanely expensive considering the area it is in. There usually arent that many people eating there if you like a relatively quiet dining experience but I also rated it a 3 for atmosphere as it isn't very lively. Good service, 4 stars for me overall.“

The seductive, 1930s Shanghai-glamor ambience paired with cool music played at just the right volume creates a wonderfully chill vibe. My only request is that they'd add shaved ice to their fantastic martinis and serve them in classic martini glasses.“

“I go every Monday with my husband , we love this place , the front guy desk with glasses I don’t know his name but he is so amazing he is one of the kind me and my husband loves going there because of how he is treating us nice and good customer service , my husband is a police officer and I’m a teacher so we only get 1 once a week to go on a date and every week on Monday we go to curry N wok because it’s so awesome , the food so amazing too , customer service amazing , I love the DoSa , pakora with their amazing tea , also their sambar Veda super super amazing , this place it’s my go to . “Open Rice Poke Bowl is one of my favorite spots in Stamford! The food is always fresh, delicious, and consistently good. I love that the menu offers a variety of options, so there’s truly something for everyone.

Favorites from there are the Thai Curry Noodle Soup, Hibachi, Mongolian beef, pineapple pork fried rice, szechuan dumplings, sushi is very fresh as well! Highly recommend!“

“Seeking gourmet level Chinese cuisine brought me to Mister Chen’s Seafood & Bar. Their extensive menu confirmed my next dinner destination.

My luck continued as upon arrival @7 Sat night there was plenty of seating. Immediately seated, I began the tough choice of so many unique preparations!

My choices included Fresh Seafood & Bean Curd Soup, Chicken & Broccoli, Beef w Szechuan Chili Spiced Onions, House Style Singapore Noodles.

The soup was subtle & delicious, slightly different appearance from menu. Some chili oil & soy sauce made it just right for my palate. The Beef was really tasty & well seasoned, subtle flavors with familiar spices & some mysterious undertones. Chicken broccoli was a great version of a popular combination. The Singapore Mei Fun noodles had an emphasis of curry which was unexpectedly inspired yet did not match my taste. It may have been slightly over seasoned for my liking.

Overall an excellent choice for inspired Chinese cuisine food! Returning soon!!!“

“I ordered shrimp with broccoli from East Bamboo Chinese Restaurant and was very disappointed. The broccoli and sauce were very bland, and the shrimp tasted bad and seemed spoiled. I called the restaurant to let them know, but they told me the chef said the shrimp was fresh. Unfortunately, based on the taste, that was not my experience at all. Overall, the food quality was poor, and I would not order from them again.“

“After years of eating at all the local spots (Bamboo Garden, Peking, and New Great Wall) I can honestly say this is the BEST Chinese food I’ve had in White Plains. The extra drive is absolutely worth it. Portions are “old school” big, prices run about $2 to $3 less than other places, and they always throw in something extra for free. The egg rolls taste just like the ones you remember as a kid, and the boneless spare ribs were superb (IMO). My wife, who usually gets headaches when MSG is used, had no issues here, which says a lot. Just a heads up that it’s cash only and they don’t deliver, but honestly, that’s no big deal when you can eat this well without it costing an arm and a leg!“

Took me 7 minutes to order a cheeseburger, couldn't make it into a meal unless I chose a specific restaurant... its all being made in the same kitchen, people like me do not care about the name associated with it. “This is the most horrible restaurant place I've ever ordered from. I ordered and picked up in store. I ordered "Roast Pork with Chinese vegetables" I specifically asked if the vegetables included bok choy and was assured that it did. When I got home with the food the only vegetable included with the Pork was celery. Just a container of pork and celery, another time I ordered BBQ Ribs and it was a very small order and some of them were burned. When I questioned the counter person he answered that they had run out. Then why did they sell, and charge me an order? Don't order food from this place, If you want to enjoy it, it is BAD and they.“

“Since Steam changed owners, it feels like a completely new restaurant—and the food is absolutely delicious! It’s unfortunate that reviews from the previous ownership are still weighing down their rating, because the new menu, staff, and food are all fantastic.
The tofu lettuce cups, Szechuan dumplings, scallion pancakes, and bamboo-fired fish are absolute must-tries. And definitely ask for extra dumpling sauce—it’s amazing for dipping the fish!
If you love Chinese food, I highly recommend giving Steam a try. Don’t let the older reviews deter you—the new Steam is fantastic!“

“We ordered the vegetarian spring rolls, pan-fried pork dumplings, chicken and broccoli, and roast pork with broccoli — and were pleasantly surprised by how good everything was. The chicken and broccoli came with plenty of broccoli (which we appreciated), and the roast pork had great flavor without being fatty. The dumplings were nicely pan-fried, the spring rolls were crisp, and everything traveled well for takeout. Generous portions, easy pickup, and solid value. We’ll definitely order again.“

“Hadn't been there since 2016 possibly when I moved away from the area in 2017 still got the same day service the same hostess was there and everything was wonderful I told them where I was and we reminisced and had a great time and hey the food is still the same as it was back then no changes next time in the area hope you have more money so I can buy more food to bring up to where I live I'm in the mountains where the options are limited and few. They also don't skimp out anything and make sure to give you all the sauces you can possibly want, even sometimes putting in a small container of sweet and sour sauce. The delivery guy is also very nice and funny.

Everything was exceptional with large portions and the food was ready for pickup very fast.

I always order their lo mein and it’s so fantastic it’s one of my favorite dishes here. As well as the sesame chicken, so flavorful and way better than the other Chinese restaurant in town. (New China) Their sesame chicken is just liquid for sauce and doesn’t stick to the chicken. New China’s sesame chicken is so bad I threw it out and came here instead. It was way better than New China the chicken was so fresh and warm and the sauce was so good and thick and actually sticked on to the chicken. I really enjoy their fried rice I have no idea what they put in there but my taste buds were in heaven! Their fried chicken is so hot and steamy I hear a crunch every time I take a bite, it was so satisfying. I also had their dumplings and the flavors were melting on my tongue, there was so much flavor in one bite and it was so warm the sauce was so delicious. The spring rolls were spectacular also very crunchy and yummy I could eat them all day long! Their broccoli chicken is so juicy and saucy I love to have it with there white rice. Their white rice is so fluffy I was like a cloud on my plate, the rice here is one of the best rice I’ve had in my life when I get Chinese takeout. Their food here is such a good price since I had enough for my whole family. It was so much food we had some for the next day! My kids were so happy with what they ate and wanted me to buy more. I always come here with my family. It’s the best Chinese takeout in town. The food is so good I ate so much that I was gasping for air! Overall I absolutely love this place I will always order my Chinese takeout here. The food is absolutely perfect and couldn’t get any better from here! They have so many options of food I can never decide wha to eat when I come here because I know every bite of any food I get will be super delicious.
