“On vacation as a joke, we searched for "the worst bar near me" which led us to this amazing little place. We had the absolute best food! The waitstaff was attentive, fun, and helpful. Prices & portions were fair. The whole vibe of the area was low-key & pleasant with the dog-friendly patio, next door local shops, and other patrons. If these Wisconsintes find ourselves in Jersey City again, we will absolutely make a dedicated return to the Wurstbar!“

“Decided to come around noon to try their 8.95 breakfast special and was helped by Allen. He was pleasant and respectful. The store is clean, bright and breezy during the day and makes you forget about how dirty grove street area is! The burrito was filling and came with crispy home fries AND they offered free coffee which was decent! They even had oat milk. You really can’t beat the price especially in this area“

“We stopped by during happy hour and were pleasantly surprised by how enjoyable the entire experience turned out to be. The drink selection alone set the tone for a great visit. I ordered the Malt House IPA, which was delicious—crisp, refreshing, and full of flavor. My companion went with an Old Fashioned, and it was exceptional as well: perfectly balanced, smooth, and clearly crafted with attention to detail. It’s always a good sign when a place nails both their beer and their cocktails.
For our appetizer, we started with the onion rings, and they were easily some of the best we’ve had in a while. The beer-battered coating was light enough not to overpower the onion, yet still crispy and satisfying. You could really taste and feel the onion itself inside, almost “blooming” beneath the batter. It’s a small thing, but it made a huge difference—simple comfort food done incredibly well.
My companion ordered the American Burger, and he couldn’t stop talking about it. The star of the dish was the onion jam, which added a sweet, savory depth that elevated the whole burger to something special. He said it was genuinely one of the best burgers he’s ever had, and he’s not someone who throws around that kind of compliment lightly.
I went with the Roasted Chicken, and it was the perfect comfort meal. The chicken was tender and flavorful, and the pairing of the creamy mushroom sauce with the tarragon and mashed potatoes created a warm, delicious combination that hit every craving. It was hearty without being heavy and tasted like a dish made with real care.
Overall, our happy hour visit turned into a memorable dining experience. Great drinks, excellent food, and a cozy, welcoming atmosphere made it a place we’d happily return to. Highly recommended for anyone looking for comfort dishes done right and cocktails that impress.“
